guys, i got a noob question to ask ..
I'm having some difficulties in deciding to buy a R9-280X toxic and a R9-290 . . My budget can cover but still based on performance vs money . .
if buying the R9-290, which brand should go? i heard current R9-290 is quite boiling running at full load . .

If not mistaken, you can;t really get 280x toxic now. Really limited numbers of that card. I would say 290 is good. Since they are all the same, just get the cheapest one. I might be wrong on this though. All I know is that they are of stock reference PCB and cooler.

R9-290, it's a bit hot but it's supposed to run that way in order to maximised its performance. Make sure you have a case with good airflow and you're set.

The cheapest I saw is Gigabyte R9-290 which is around RM1449. Can look at the garage sales just to confirm

Initially i also like you wanna take 280X, but after saw the 290 performance i straight make my mind to take 290. I never try any 280X card before so i have no idea how are the fans' sound volume but the reference 290 really can make your pc like a vacuum machine, no joke.

Artic Cooler Extreme = RM259

RM1.7k for non ref 290.

Why need to use Arctic cooler on your toxic? I thought the toxic cooler is ok?

Yes and yes, hence getting the cheapest will do aside from WARRANTY. sapphire provide 2 years while the rest is 3 years.

Why power consumption is slightly lower when using 3rd party cooler?

Want to highlight another thing, if u really want to buy the 290 reference card be careful on certain brand there is warranty seal sticker on those screw, i saw Asus have it that is why i choose gigabyte.
