QUOTE(Puteih @ Oct 17 2013, 03:31 PM) Is Sapphire R9 280X Toxic 3GB GDDR5 better than HD7950? Or is it still overprice? 280x toxic not just better than HD7950 bro, its even better than HD7970 GHz in terms of both price and performance and not to mention its new nice looking cooler with LED . But looks like the voltage is locked so not much headroom left for overclocking. Even one of the review that I read mentioned when they try to oc even 10MHz on the core, artifacts appeared and another review able to oc up to 1230MHz stable. in the end it depends on our luck This post has been edited by shepard: Oct 17 2013, 03:43 PM

QUOTE(sai86 @ Oct 17 2013, 03:46 PM) even 7970ghz has quite difficulties to reach that Core clock i only can do 1230 mhz n toxic may surpass my oc easily. (BF 4 no problem at all, but dota 2 gimme black screen with audio only ) so my real stable point is at 1200mhz. 1250mhz psu shutdown itself due to bump up the voltage. yea, my last 7970 can do max 1170mhz only.. very bad. 1230 consider good already bro, not bad..I think this 280x toxic also cant go far like earlier batch of 7970 where 1300+ oc not a problem even on air.

QUOTE(sai86 @ Oct 17 2013, 04:30 PM) sure. btw, any benchmark that is not bound to cpu and solely for gpu? my cpu is kinda dragging my gpu hmm ya I didnt play around with OC for quite some time already till I lost touch with those synthetic benchies but the best I can guess is you can try AvP benchmark and maybe Far Cry 2 benchmark? Cant be sure though because I only do benchmarks on own PC and no comparison made, so no idea which benchmark is solely bound to GPU since most of them requires raw cpu power as well. can check with owikh he might know. QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Oct 25 2013, 09:46 PM) Nah, Prolimatech MK-26 did a good job cooling 290x. You can get one for around RM250 in garage sale. Synthetic benches of 290x@1200/6000 here and you can find leaked R9-290 synthetic performance benchmark on the first page of the thread. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Wishing to get those monsters but this time have to wait..patience and wait for aftermarket cooler . at least my current GC is still there on the chart

QUOTE(kof1469 @ Oct 28 2013, 12:01 PM) ASUS R9-280x, not matrix nor platinum when you check in the link, there's few models of Asus 280x DCUII but I believe you're using the same model as mine. Its a 2slot Asus R9-280X DCII Top right? if yes then we have to wait until mid-late november for Full Cover waterblock. source: http://www.ekwb.com/news/404/19/

QUOTE(genjo @ Nov 6 2013, 09:32 AM) 7950 to R290 / 290x worth it? depend, if you're gaming at 1080p..to me 7950 is more than enough unless you wanna turn on everything in video setting and maxing all eye candies(SSAA/MSAA etc.) then I'd say 290 is the best choice right now. if 1440p is your preference, definitely 290 is the best amongst all offering for us ...I'll wait for custom cooler though. tbh even an oc'ed single 280x that i'm using right now is more than enough for 1440p..at least for now

[attachmentid=3713225] not low, that's a very nice score ...much2 better than my 280x which can only scored ~50fps+ when highly oc'ed. here's my 280x score at 1250/1700 this is a very high oc where it'll not stable for 24/7 / gaming unless WC :

Workload Single init returned error message: Initializing process failed. Hi thanks for the reply same here,no aircond at room I running the unigine valley and get about 7x too Anyway, did you oc your gc? guys, create a custom fan profile using msi afterburner or asus gpu tweak to reduce your temp at load...dont worry, even at 60%-70% fan speed this cooler is still quite silent (acceptable noise)

hmm weird..have you tried reinstall unigine valley/heaven? if things like this happen, just try to reinstall either the software, driver, direct X i'm not sure too but no harm in trying that first. This post has been edited by shepard: Nov 10 2013, 07:35 PM

QUOTE(Vynalion @ Nov 12 2013, 02:35 AM) can anyone give a me link to update my driver? im a complete computer idiot here, and i dont really understand those website, so many version ~.~ . currently using sapphire 7870xt with boost, win7 64bit. and about the AMD catalyst packages when i check amd website, do i download this and install or do i ned to download the latest beta driver as well?? confusing. lol here you go: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pag...on_win7-64.aspxYou can choose either WHQL or Beta driver but I recommend download the beta driver as its a the latest and usually optimized for latest games, If you found certain issues with it, uninstall and install WHQL driver instead.

QUOTE(faidz85 @ Nov 13 2013, 10:48 AM) Hi all, A question here. Does it make sense to go for R9 290 when the max I will go is 1080p at max settings? I mean my 7850 is still capable of high settings at 1080p in BF4 and Ghosts. But would love to see all the eye candy. Don't think I will go more than 1080p in the near future. What card would you suggest for this? I know that the R9 290 is for UHD resolutions so I am thinking it might be an overkill. R9-280x is your best choice if you wanna max out the graphics on any current games at 1080p. you'll find that perf increase is almost twice as your current card performance..this card is worth every ringgit at its perf/noise/power consumption/heat since its already came with custom cooler. Cheapest only around RM10xx new one and you dont have to worry about noise and heat anymore unlike R9-290 where you have to think about getting another cooler. Imagine R9-290+custom cooler around RM1.7k while R9-280x only ~RM1.1k and perf difference is about 20%-25% only. Anyhow if budget is not an issue, of course R9-290 with custom cooler is the best choice...but have to wait until december for that.

QUOTE(Puteih @ Nov 17 2013, 04:13 PM) Now dilema to buy Asus's 280x. Seems to be better than Toxic 280x. Anyone agrees? Asus R9-280X DCII Top is the best...2 slot cooler, low noise, cool, 3 years warranty...just OC this card to Toxic level (1150MHz core) and you're good to go. Mine can OC up to 1170MHz at stock Volt (1163mV)..tried BF4 at 1250MHz so far no crash
