280x toxic not just better than HD7950 bro, its even better than HD7970 GHz in terms of both price and performance and not to mention its new nice looking cooler with LED . But looks like the voltage is locked so not much headroom left for overclocking. Even one of the review that I read mentioned when they try to oc even 10MHz on the core, artifacts appeared and another review able to oc up to 1230MHz stable.

yea, my last 7970 can do max 1170mhz only.. very bad. 1230 consider good already bro, not bad..I think this 280x toxic also cant go far like earlier batch of 7970 where 1300+ oc not a problem even on air.

hmm ya I didnt play around with OC for quite some time already till I lost touch with those synthetic benchies but the best I can guess is you can try AvP benchmark and maybe Far Cry 2 benchmark?

Cant be sure though because I only do benchmarks on own PC and no comparison made, so no idea which benchmark is solely bound to GPU since most of them requires raw cpu power as well. can check with owikh he might know.

wow , in terms of performance it's a must buy card but then we need a gpu waterblock to cool down this beast..cant wait to see how it performs on 1080p and 1440p res since this is where we're gaming at.

Wishing to get those monsters but this time have to wait..patience and wait for aftermarket cooler . at least my current GC is still there on the chart

depend, if you're gaming at 1080p..to me 7950 is more than enough unless you wanna turn on everything in video setting and maxing all eye candies(SSAA/MSAA etc.) then I'd say 290 is the best choice right now. if 1440p is your preference, definitely 290 is the best amongst all offering for us ...I'll wait for custom cooler though.

tbh even an oc'ed single 280x that i'm using right now is more than enough for 1440p..at least for now

not low, that's a very nice score ...much2 better than my 280x which can only scored ~50fps+ when highly oc'ed. here's my 280x score at 1250/1700 this is a very high oc where it'll not stable for 24/7 / gaming unless WC :

guys, create a custom fan profile using msi afterburner or asus gpu tweak to reduce your temp at load...dont worry, even at 60%-70% fan speed this cooler is still quite silent (acceptable noise)

try 3dmark or heaven and see the score?

hmm weird..have you tried reinstall unigine valley/heaven? if things like this happen, just try to reinstall either the software,driver,direct X i'm not sure too but no harm in trying that first.

You can choose either WHQL or Beta driver but I recommend download the beta driver as its a the latest and usually optimized for latest games, If you found certain issues with it, uninstall and install WHQL driver instead.

R9-280x is your best choice if you wanna max out the graphics on any current games at 1080p. you'll find that perf increase is almost twice as your current card performance..this card is worth every ringgit at its perf/noise/power consumption/heat since its already came with custom cooler. Cheapest only around RM10xx new one and you dont have to worry about noise and heat anymore unlike R9-290 where you have to think about getting another cooler.

Imagine R9-290+custom cooler around RM1.7k while R9-280x only ~RM1.1k and perf difference is about 20%-25% only. Anyhow if budget is not an issue, of course R9-290 with custom cooler is the best choice...but have to wait until december for that.

Asus R9-280X DCII Top is the best...2 slot cooler, low noise, cool, 3 years warranty...just OC this card to Toxic level (1150MHz core) and you're good to go. Mine can OC up to 1170MHz at stock Volt (1163mV)..tried BF4 at 1250MHz so far no crash
