Smoothness is generally attributed to framerate and lack of fps spikes, and slightly related is input lag. Even with G-sync, 30fps and below will still feel sluggish compared to 60fps.

I think nvidia g-sync is very important technology.  We've been stuck with limitations of monitor technology. fixed refresh rate, cause frame rate to caps at 60hz.  Not many have 120hz monitor.

G-sync dynamically change refresh rate to whatever gpu fps to match it. What is the point of having fast GPU but the bottleneck is your monitor? What we want is fluid motion in gaming, and refresh rate is important just like fps too.

I got my DirectCUII R9-280X for 1159 from hikari.

Im bought the Asus R9-280X DCII Top.

When 1st time i put it in, it wont boot. Card runs fine.

Sent to the shop to take a look.
They said need to update the mobo bios.
After updated it, the pc boot up but intermittent.

Sent back to shop and now they said, my soundcard make the pc wont boot since it's not enuf power.
But im curious about that.

Current 280X using Tahiti XTL and what AMD is preparing right now is the replacement for 7950 imo. BIOS from 280x show Tahiti XTL instead of Tahiti XT2

damnnn AMD for the superb strategy!! if 290 non-x can fight head to head with 780 but priced lower then nvidia is gonna get hurt again.. or nvidia will just fix their prices because their reference cooler > AMD's

I'm surprised as well  that Sapphire has no knowledge on what kind of chipset their newly launched GPU is based on. That means whatever AMD shipped them they will pass to normal consumers like us without checking / verifying.

Very disappointing for a Sapphire supporter like myself or they themselves are unwilling to disclose that.

Might want to stay away from this brand for the next upgrade

  just get R9 290 High end is not overkill...  if you get R9 290 at least you know u won't need G,cards upgrade 3 year coming... or more..  or wait Custom cooling for R9 290 by way price so reasonable under RM1.5K fo performance cards that beat GTX 780... 

A software that will create a ramdisk?   RAM is >9000 times fastah than a conventional HDD so if your system have HUGE ram capacity you can create a RAM disk to install your game and your game will load blazingly fast. IMO not worth it.

You can create up to 4GB of RAM disk with the free version.
