Shud be the bunga mas class, auxiliary ship converted from misc cargo ship then bought into the navy

if we can get mini dokdo class, it would be nice. I like wide open upper deck, make it look like we have aircraft carrier

news say we need at least 3 of those LPD.. then again, no budget for it. wait till next year see if the program reboot again.

hey that seems like a good idea..instead of acquiring dokdo or mistral, can we convert the Bunga Mas to LPD ship? or will the converting be more costly than acquiring a dokdo?

Bunga Mas Type if i am not mistaken only 2 left , 5 & 6 they were built by Malaysian Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd shipyard in Pasir Gudang, Johor. MISC has also exited the container shipping business in June 2012 ...so no more container ships !
Also design of container ships is different as process of container loading & unloading is via cranes or the likes of it, over the ships sides. LPD design different.
Closest we could get is a RO-RO (rolled on and roll off) ship as it has ramps for embarkation and disembarkation or even a ferry design.

The US Military Sealift Command's also use Ro-RO's in the form of Large, Medium-speed, Roll-on/Roll-off Ships, ( LMSR) . 19 LMSR's were built or converted ( 5 were converted container ships ) by US shipyards by 2001. It significantly expanded American sealift capability. Not sure how much it will cost but i dun think it will be very expensive. At least it will be way cheaper than mini dokdo and mistral.
