Just to reiterate, this is exactly what the great Johan Cruyff said after that miracle in Istanbul.

Johan Cruyff after Istanbul:

“There’s not one club with an anthem like “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. There’s not one club in the world so united with the fans. I sat there watching the Liverpool fans and they sent shivers down my spine. A mass of 40,000 people became one force behind their team. That’s something not many teams have. For that I admire Liverpool more than anything.”

This, despite being annihilated in the 1st half. Comments on social media were labeling us a joke. Still, our fans stood firm.

Just as in every day life, I believe football fans live by a code, more so Liverpool fans since "The Liverpool Way" became our ethos. The post below summarises how I feel about it really.

http://community.sigames.com/showthread.ph...e-Liverpool-Way

Key Paragraph

QUOTE
The Liverpool Way will mean something different to every Liverpool fan, but there are common values that define us as Liverpool supporters. It is those values that give our club and fans the identity we have today; and we should never lose sight of the characteristics that make our relationship with Liverpool Football Club so special.

The Liverpool way was really defined by Bill Shankly; who was the architect and pioneer of our transformation into one of the greatest clubs in world football. Shankly had a vision for Liverpool; he saw beyond the football club and wanted to use the City's characteristics to define the culture of the club. He wanted to give Liverpool a unique identity; and to lift the club and it's supporters to the best in world football.

So for those fans that maybe only began to follow the club in recent years, what is the Liverpool Way? What does make us so special? The simple way to define a Red is by wit, knowledge, patience, respect for your opponent and an unwavering support of your team. As supporters, we will not always agree with the decisions of the club or manager, but what makes us different is that we will always get behind them

There is a massive difference between supporting a player and deluding ourselves into thinking he is Pele reincarnated. In my opinion, we have an obligation as fans to adhere as much as possible to this code that was put in place by the Shanks. It was because of his vision after all that we are where we are today.

The author goes on to admit that as generations pass, we are beginning to lose touch with some of our values.

QUOTE
Over the last few years, it might be said that 'The Liverpool Way' has slowly started to diminish. With the ins and outs of new managers and owners. Ins and outs of world class players, and at one point the large possibility that we may go into administration. So it is understandable that we, the supporters, can't really be blamed for being cautious and not getting behind the club as we have in the past. Going after the former Americans with pitch forks and flames, and us being a large reason that Woy was sacked. Which is the first time that I can ever remember when we've ran a manager out of the club.

So my aim is to re-ignite the great Bill Shanklys vision. I want to bring Liverpool Its unique identity back, and to lift the club and its supporters back the best in world football.

My aim is the same, that is to remember who we are and for us to retain our identity. In the end though, the choice of doing so or not is up to the individual. For me, it is traditions and values like this that make me a firm supporter of the club and it is the main differentiator between us and everyone else.

Alas, here comes the personal attacks & emotional 1119 essays. Wounded ego and butthurt? Give me a freakin break. Single me out if u want, I couldn't be bothered about it. There's always a price to pay for going against the flow. You are not the first one I clashed my opinion with and definitely will not be the last one. I speak out what I see and I keep it real. You said you don't take yourselves seriously and then you wrote this marvelous piece. No need to be so emotional. Would rather talk about football rather than drawn into another moral debate about how to be a fan or so. Seriously, give it a rest.

Carloz man, i think even you can see and appreciate the tone of Led'z post. I don't think it was his intent to attack you, in fact he even offer an apology at the end of his post. He made an effort to have an open conversation with you and his post alluded that much. The least you could do is return the courtesy.

I would prefer discussion on the next game or even January transfer than dwelling on those petty matter. I think someone should forgive and forget and start posting the next game...

I will start with one. Read that Steven Taylor is doubtful for the game.

Gotta move on from this Allen debate, guys. He's not the only player in the squad..

Ditto. Personally I think he's a good player, neat and tidy and I'm sure he would do well in a team like Southampton or Swansea. However, whether he could step up to another level is a doubt. Based on our current squad, it will be hard for him to break into the first team. He has neither the engine of Henderson, the defensive abilities of Lucas nor the passing range of Gerrard. He has lots of ground to cover.

I was watching Ibrahimovic interview the other day and he said he prefer Messi over C.Ronaldo because the former is a more natural footballer and the latter is a trained product. That kinda reminded me of Allen and Hendo. Allen for me is the more natural footballer, where as Hendo struct me as a train product. I remember all those club's individual competitions where Hendo always ended up winning against the likes of Suarez, Downing, Coates etc. But of course Suarez turns out to be a whole different beast on the pitch because his natural football instincts come to play at the most crucial of moments where as Hendo football intelligence kinda lets him down. I believe that's why we need to see Allen is in his favored position before passing judgement, it is when he has the ball and space to attack that his football instinct comes alive.

I have to agree with solstice818, lets put on our opinions on the next game against Newcastle.

With Gerrard having two games in a row, i bet Brendan will rest him or bring him on in the 2nd period or not at all. With Coutinho, Allen, Johnson, Cissokho in the contention of returning to first team, i wouldn't want Brendan to take the risk of starting him. Newcastle isn't an easy opponent though they look vulnerable in defence.

Suarez looks hungry for goals and so does Sturridge..

I doubt Stevie will get a rest against Newcastle. Not sure who will come in if he does. Allen is available for selection and had this to say :-

QUOTE
‘I can get involved more in the creative side in assisting goals. That’s a big thing. If I have the chance to play further forward, like I did in pre-season, goals are obviously another big element that I’d like to add to my game.’

Don't think Gerrard will be rested in any league game under BR unless he's injured or it's a really insignificant match towards the end of the season, no matter how much football he's played for his country. Hopefully Johnson is available to start. Gives the team a more solid look at least on the right flank instead of Sterling.

Agree with you on his qualities. I remember when he first came in, he was shoulders above the rest. That's not saying a lot considering how crap the rest of the squad was doing but you knew he had the qualities - made the right decisions, kept the ball flowing and the moves tidy and always presenting himself as an option. But he needs to regain that form and confidence and also perform consistently in the team. To do that he needs game time. But I have a question, what's his favourite position? He used to play in Gerrard's current role in Swansea but I don't see Rodgers dropping Gerrard at all. If he should be played further upfront where he could cause the most damage, we have Coutinho and Alberto - 2 natural footballers no less - above the pecking order. It's going to be a tough mountain to climb.

Can't see Rodgers dropping Gerrard, seem to be his blind spot unfortunately.

Coloccini may not be fit for the match, so that's good news for us. I see us playing 3-5-2 with the same lineup:
Mignolet
Toure - Skrtel/Agger - Sakho
Henderson/Johnson - Lucas - Gerrard - Enrique
Moses
Sturridge - Suarez
