Can't brain last night's performance. So disjointed. Now everyone knows how to play against Liverpool..just press high up the pitch and force LFC to punt the ball upfield. This is BR's main weakness I feel. He's hell-bent on sticking to a certain playing style that he can't come up with an alternative solution. It was already evident since last season. Really poor performance by the midfielders yesterday, especially Stevie G. And playing Sakho at LB and Toure at RB yesterday was not the wisest move.

Just put all the youngsters + Suarez + Mignolet in the League Cup match. If progress, it's a bonus. If not, well for me doesn't really matter cause I never liked this competition anyway. Would be nice to sneak a win at OT though..

we can just recall suso right? i think we are eligible to do that right?

All depends on what both clubs have agreed on when the deal was done.

@8sg9ft - Liverpool seldom recall on-loan player. I just dunno Y? If they r good enough to play for their 1st team
i don't think is a problem for playing for us..if we give them chance.
No youth players is deemed good if they don't get a strings of games.

*
Again, like I said before, it all boils down to the agreement both clubs made. If there was no agreement that LFC can recall their players, then LFC would just have to abide by it.

Didn't watch the game last night. BR put out a really strong squad though. Still disappointed at the fact that we still haven't scored a 2nd half goal against a top-flight team.

Hopefully Kelly is fit enough to start the next match. Would like to see him at RB instead of Toure or Henderson. Toure should partner Agger in central of defence.

Maybe something like this for the next match? Mignolet, Kelly, Agger, Toure, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Hendo, Moses, Suarez, Sturridge.

you got our mighty Carroll

That's why he said he left out all the players signed in the first transfer window of their reign.

Anyway, success is very subjective. Some people might think certain players have made the squad better while other people don't.

thats why he bought Alberto in the 1st place right?

replace him with lucas and put Gerrard as DM.
*
Gerrard as DM? I don't think he's cut out to be a DM. I don't see a natural DM in the team anyway. If Lucas is a natural DM, well, he's a poor man's DM. tongue.gif Can do some of the dirty work decently enough but nothing more. I still miss Mascherano.

Must-win game tomorrow after the results today. Gotta take full advantage of it. Hopefully BR doesn't start with 4 CBs again.

Well, at least there's no 4 CBs in the starting lineup tongue.gif

Mignolet, Toure, Sakho, Skrtel, Enrique, Hendo, Stevie, Lucas, Moses, Suarez, Sturridge..

QUOTE(carloz28 @ Sep 30 2013, 09:21 AM)
Glad that we grabbed 3 points from Sunderland, it was one of the matches we could easily dropped 2 points and if I'm honest we could have lost the match if it weren't for some brilliant but jittery goalkeeping by Mignolet. Having Suarez back really make the difference. He may not as fast and sharp compared to his prime, but he is still head above heels over the rest of boys and very clinical in his finishing. Sturridge is my MOTM for doing the bulk of the work, one of the very few Brits I'd love to have in the team.

Now to Midfield. God dem, that was awful. I told my mate at halftime, our midfield was so shyte that the black cats are so eager to bury us like real cats burying turd in the sand. Coming from a man who boast about playing tiki taka football, I'm clearly not impressed at all. On the other hand, we were getting tiki taka'ed by a managerless, bottom of the table team.

Is our midfield creativity hinge entirely on one player, that is Coutinho? Someone argued that our midfield will not collapse because there are still Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson and they are NOT useless. Well, they are pretty close to 'useless' yesterday, aren't they? Playing 2 DMs yet again on the field should translate to more posession but that is not showing on the stats.  If Lucas can't do the job, get someone in who will FFS.

Defenders totally lost hope in our midfield that they just lofted the ball to the front two, the whole strategy evolved from pass and move to long balls as the match progress. BR lovers call this "counter attack" not knowing the fact that we were being pressed and closed down so much we cant even make a pass.

Hendo can't play right wing so why put him there? Put him as the CM behind the strikers and move Gerrard to the right. Not our captain's favored position but an aging Gerrard can do better than a clueless Henderson, even without the pace.

Get your act together BR, yesterday your ass were saved by the strikers, now go back and work on your midfield.
*
Agree with your assessment of last night's game. Midfield was sometimes being run over way too easily. Even Gerrard wasn't up to his best again yesterday. Lucas, well, was being Lucas. But who else to replace Lucas to play DM? Surely Allen can't do a better job, no? On another note, at least the defence did a better job this time. Sakho isn't afraid to climb all over strikers to get headers. tongue.gif

Glad Suarez is back. He really made a difference. Anyone noticed how Stevie nearly accidentally injured him after he scored his first goal? laugh.gif

3-5-2 with Coutinho and Johnson back from injury probably leaves Moses and Hendo on the bench? hmm.gif

I wonder whether 3-5-2 would be the mainstay formation from BR this season

Ok next time I'll just mention who is in my shit list which consist of the midfielders then smile.gif

Aside from that, anyone saw the Spurs vs Chelsea match? Should Torres be banned for what he did?
*
It was the wrong decision by the ref for that 2nd yellow card. Period. But since it's 2 yellows and not a straight red, I don't think Chelsea can appeal the mandatory 1 match ban.

from that 5 matches, I hope we can get at least 15 points from that. ehehehe..

but in reality. 6 points is look something possible.
*
Anything more than 8 points from those 5 matches will be quite good actually. But those games are more than a month away. Can't predict what sort of form those teams will be in by then.

Hopefully this weekend another win before the international break. Don't think BR will risk it by starting Alberto, Ilori, Aspas etc. More or less the same team will start. Maybe Agger in place of Skrtel or Sakho.

Is Lucas even suspended for the next game? Because he's only got 4 yellow cards in the PL. 1 was from the COC which doesn't count for PL matches isn't it?

*Right, he is suspended after all. http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/suspensions

I reckon Henderson & Stevie will partner in the middle. While Sterling will operates on the right flank. The rest will remains.

---------------Mignolet---------------
-Toure-----Skrtel-----Sakho---
-------------------------------Enrique
--------Henderson----Gerrard------
Sterling------------------------------
---------------Moses-----------------
-------Sturridge----Suarez----------
*
I actually see this happening too. BR brought on Sterling the other day and he ended up on the right wingback spot that Hendo was playing in and Hendo was put back to the centre of midfield.

Unrealistic but if we can, why not Mousa Dembele. He's so strong and quick. Something we clearly lacked in our squad now. I dont understand why BR went for Allen instead of him.
*
Unrealistic indeed. tongue.gif But yeah, Dembele is one of the more solid ball-winning central midfielders right now. Same goes to Paulinho. Spurs' midfield has so much depth and quality right now it's quite scary to think how well they can play if they gel.

Right now, LFC is not exactly short on numbers, just short of adequate quality replacements for certain positions. Defensive midfield comes to mind. Lucas does a half-decent job at that position. The problem is nobody can do a much better job at the same position. Henderson or Allen certainly don't play the role well enough to start ahead of Lucas on a consistent basis.
