wow.. not bad..
which branch is it? i only got a miserable manicure set in Penang.
BTW, no more banker's cheque from BR from 2014, they will perform interbank giro to destination bank account and absorb the RM2 fees which is ok as banker's cheque may need 1 more day to clear.
*
This is going to make it hard to place FDs at other banks unless you have CASA account there for the interbank giro to work.

This is going to make us difficult to place FD in other banks on the same day;
perhaps we must go to withdraw/IBG BR FD early in the morning, but not sure
what time other banks can receive the fund?

And yes, another problem is we must have CASA in other banks to receive IBG.

So, most likely we will lose 1 day to 2 days interest..? sad.gif

QUOTE(tbheng @ Jan 9 2014, 03:08 AM)
Zero top-up, just uplift and place new FD with same amount.
Probably the officer feel sorry can't get higher rate for me... He said he had tried with HQ.
Feel they could give higher, but din have time to play the "if no good rate, I pull out completely" trick.  tongue.gif
Like some BR sifu here mention here before, just ask for free gift. Somehow BR is quite generous on this.
I got 2 diaries (I like the cover feel, see pic attached) from the officer, and ask again from the counter guy, got umbrella + 2 huge wall hanging calendars (hardly find it these days).  laugh.gif
*
BR gave me only one diary 2014 just like yours.

During last year December, I left my banker's check and my exiting matured FD cert in BR for
almost a week to wait for HQ to confirm and approve my requested FD rate. Since I left my banker's check and matured FD cert there, I felt like I had to accept whatever rate they offered me.. sad.gif
Hopefully they treated me fair..

Next time really need to negotiate FD rate on the phone first before go to BR.

My plan is to call them 5 to 7 days ahead of maturity of FD to negotiate for renewal rate. We can plan whether to continue or move to other banks ahead of time. biggrin.gif

Someone just told me that MBB has extended their PMA-I promo until May2014. Effective int/dividend is 2.75% + 1.1% bonus. But if you deposit thru the PMA-I child/trust account (max rm50k) you effectively get 3%+1.1%bonus.
*
Sorry found out myself that promo ends on 31Mar2014, 2+ months left so too short term.
For the PMA-I child/trust account you are allowed to make 1 withdrawal/month without affecting the 3% interest.

Yesterday, I went to UOB to open another FD account. I was supposed to open 13 months FD with 3.65% interest rate. But the customer service officer said I must open a saving account to eligible for the promo. So, I ended up with opening 12 months FD with 3.55% interest rate.Today, I make a call to UOB. The call centre officer said I don't have to open saving account for the 13months FD. Why there is discrepancy between the two officers ? Who is telling the truth and who is not ??? vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

About MACH FD promotion T&C:
---------------
4. For the avoidance of doubt, the term "new placement" shall refer to fresh funds deposited by the Customer into the Mach FD. Intra bank transfer of funds, i.e. transfer of funds from another HLB account (whether savings, fixed deposit or current) or from a Money Box Deposit Account shall not be considered as a "new placement".
----------

Does that mean depositing cheque into money box and then transfer to MACH FD is not considered as fresh funds? Anyone tried out?
The existing HL bank can't process MACH FD so have to go to MACH branch..sad.gif

the thing is you are allowed to submit the FD online by using fund from Money Box, in fact this is one of the plus point of MACH that you don't need to go to branch to deposit for special rate. So who is gonna govern whether it is 'fresh' or not?

Like to know whether there is an FD (or something similar to it) for 1-3 weeks instead of month.

Why? Sometimes I have FD maturing but don't need it till 1-3 weeks later.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Had a quick look. More like UT than FD. Capital can become smaller? I would not want to risk my capital just for a few weeks of saving.

Cheerio.

how? with
Zero sales charge to purchase, or to redeem.
Potentially earns higher returns, with the fund actively managed by a dedicated fund manager.
Daily returns on the Cash Management Fund. Daily returns are based on historical pricing.
No lock-in period.

hmm.gif but it think it is not as liquid as what forummer aeiou228 has pointed out in post #1000.
i think Cash Mgmt Fund needs a day or 2 to get the $$

AFAIC, there isn't any FD for 1-3 weeks in Malaysia. The closest you can get is CIMB Money Multiplier current account.
2.5%pa on your daily balance
Can make 3 free withdraw any time within a calender month.
Can issue payment by chq.
No ceiling limit.

It is an ideal account to park your fund in this account for short term basis cos this account is as liquid as any other current account and fund can be deployed instantly via chq without any upper limit. You will earn 2.5% (last time was based on 1-Month FD rate 2.9%) on your daily balances.
