(oops sorry for the OT guys!) ya mine basically came from sweelee also.anyway, tat seng...ya they got no real presence...their website also is kinda pathetic. they did move outlets within amcorp recently tho...to one that is more visible. their sticker prices are also a little on the high side...but knowing typical malaysian mindset so they usually throw about 15% off the sticker price. or maybe no one really hears of them cos they dont really sell panerais This post has been edited by Everdying: Sep 22 2013, 12:24 PM |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Sep 22 2013, 12:24 PM) ya mine basically came from sweelee also. Yeah! I was at their new shop and saw the old one while walking around...the young guy who attended to me was quite nice and friendly and yah after discounts it was more or less market prices. I think they get their stock from overseas though? Quite a shame...I'm sure they would do quite well with some online presence like what the rest are doing! hahaanyway, tat seng...ya they got no real presence...their website also is kinda pathetic. they did move outlets within amcorp recently tho...to one that is more visible. their sticker prices are also a little on the high side...but knowing typical malaysian mindset so they usually throw about 15% off the sticker price. or maybe no one really hears of them cos they dont really sell panerais Im planning to visit them again real soon..maybe ill ask them why hahahhaa |

QUOTE(ck77 @ Sep 23 2013, 07:26 AM) typical charity driven for-profit organisationsQUOTE What percentage of donations go to the charities ? Each watch comes with a metric which is carried out with the purchase of the watch. Not only is this the best way to quantify change but it is entirely transparent. ie.) 1 white watch feeds 16 children in the Horn of Africa through our charity partner One Days Wages. The same holds true for each of the other metrics. The goal is to create actual quantified change in people's lives around the world for each watch sold. Probably 1/4 ($10) goes to charity while 3/4 ($30) goes to some guy's pocket. |

QUOTE(Jason @ Sep 23 2013, 10:42 AM) How does that work? I want to participate. I heard Rolex's profit are somewhat funneled to charity and Rolex in itself is privately owned by an organisation, or something like that. In simple terms, Rolex is not publicly listed. So no shareholders. It is entirely owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Trust. So, whatever profits will go to the charity of choice of the trust fund. I think it involves watchmaking schools (where frank muller graduated) And also some humanitarian charities. That is why Rolex is cold to the media. They answer to nobody. All their profits is not making some fat capitalist filthy rich but is funneled to charities. But with all things Rolex, information is sketchy at best. |

QUOTE(ck77 @ Sep 23 2013, 07:26 AM) The watch itself looks like a typical fashion watch, which I do not mind at all (might even wear it for a quirky look). The only thing is the accountability issue: the contribution may be quantified but who determines how much money really goes to the charities. IMO a marketing ploy by the owner but if it really benefits the under-privileged, all power to them. Anyway, I'm guestimating the manufacturing cost per watch would be in the sub USD5 range, based on this. |
