Hi guys, new to cycling here (in fact I just learned how to cycle last week). Looking for a cheap and functional foldie here, preferably below RM1k.
Saw a Groupon promotion for a folding bike at a whopping RM319. Don't think it has a name. Are bikes which have no particular brand or model with that price trustworthy? http://search.groupon.my/?q=bicycle# Also, I had my eyes on Reebok Switch (the ones sold in Fitness Concept). Which RM1.2k with 20% discount. Anyone tried it before? Reviews in the internet seem to be scarce. From previous postings, Raleigh Ugo looks good too. Any other recommendations? Thanks. Much appreciated. |

For starters, I would rather go for Dahons or Terns, even the Vybe or Tern Link C7. It's proven and no regrets later. If you can't spare the extra RM200, I think you should go for the Raleigh. Those on groupon are crappy bikes and so is the Reebok which is actually not worth that much. Go to Kimbell Jaya in Taman Hussein Onn. You can get a Dahon Boardwalk (8 speed) for a little over 1K and that is a good buy. Nice geometry, sturdy folding and good ride. The shop also stocks Raleigh, Dopplegangers and some other brands.Saw a Groupon promotion for a folding bike at a whopping RM319. Don't think it has a name. bought this folding bike from china taobao. Brought it back myself via Airasia whileon vacation there with my family. Very nice and solid bike. Much better than the Raleigh UGO i use to own. UGO is very fragile with squeaking sound but this is very solid. Its full alloy frame and wheels too. Paid slightly less than RM500 for the bike but got tax RM50 by custom in KK and stupid Airasia require me to pay HK$300 for seperate cargo as bicycle is considered sports equipment.
