hi all, need help.

Attached Image

when folding my tern link C7, the 2 magnetic plates doesn't snap together well, it just about 5% touching, as per (a) in the photo

I've adjusted (b) to the max, however the 5% is the already the best.

any one experience same prob before? what's the resolution?

Thanks.

Finally the Dahon Vigor P9 is ready. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif It is now more of a Vector P20 http://issuu.com/iberobike/docs/cat__logo_...64409%2F5819898 (check Dahon's 2014 catalogue here)
I think it's cheaper than getting the Vector P20 even after getting extra components (remnants from the Vigor P9).

I also used the same components as the Vector P20. SRAM X5's rear derailleur, SRAM 10 speed cassette, SRAM chain with power link, SRAM X5 shifter pods and SRAM Apex front derailleur. I also added a 39T (130mm BCD) chainring onto the existing crank. Added a FD adapter and bopught a RD hanger from Rodalink. I also shorten the handlebar (1 inch from each side) and added a cheapo grips with bar ends. Change all housing and cables to Jagwires. I also enlarge hole for the internal cabling so the FD's cable can go through as well. The modding costs another 1K in addition to the 2K for the Vigor P9. Still cheaper than the Vector P20! rclxms.gif

On top of the moddings, I still have a set of new rims with 9 speed cassette and shifter, the original Dahon brake set (levers and V-brakes), another crank (53T), the Biolagic seatpost pump. Anyone interested, let me know. thumbup.gif

Pls check, it may caused by the position of paddle, saddle or the handle bar.

Have you tried twisting the metal plate(the non magnet side). The bolt is not centered and it's on the edge of the circle. Just twist the plate and it will fit. icon_rolleyes.gif

bought this folding bike from china taobao. Brought it back myself via Airasia whileon vacation there with my family. Very nice and solid bike. Much better than the Raleigh UGO i use to own. UGO is very fragile with squeaking sound but this is very solid. Its full alloy frame and wheels too. Paid slightly less than RM500 for the bike but got tax RM50 by custom in KK and stupid Airasia require me to pay HK$300 for seperate cargo as bicycle is considered sports equipment.

What pump?

Your tires are designed to keep air pressure in. What happened when the pressure go down? Just pump in! But then, which pump? RM30, RM50 or RM10?

So i went to search for one. Read it here that it is not advisable to pump at the petrol station right? (my house is just next to Petronas)

So then i bought one. RM25. Its a handy pump. Made in China. And when i reached home, it just can't pump! Up till the pump is hot, the air is just refused to pump in.. Haih.. I think I rugi RM25 already.. The other day i went into another bicycle shop and bought a bigger (but still small) pump made in China (again) but this time is costs me just RM10. The OK ones are more expensive, starts from RM30+, but i guess i wanna try luck with the cheap one first. If this one still failed me, I'll buy the more expensive pump.. And when i reached home, its history. It just works! My RM10 pump works! Took me not more than 5 minutes to pump both tyres! flex.gif

So moral of the story is that, no matter how much is the cost of one item, its the end result that counts..

Now i can start to cycle again, no excuse for low air pressure.. but it is a rainy season now, hope there is no rain tonight!

My 26" x 1.75 ideally may need 60PSI (rear) and 45PSI (front) but i just pump in by agak2.. hahaha (i dont have air pressure gauge) tongue.gif

Didn't notice the bolt was actually not centered sweat.gif
btw, even after twisted it nearest to magnet, it improved slightly... around 10% now

After few trial-n-error, noticed when the handle post is upright (as attached), bolt & magnet manage to snap closely around 95%.... but once handle post is folded, it's again far apart rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
still trying to figure out what exactly the prob is... hmm.gif

Dahon have life time warranty? apply to all the part ? where to claim warranty?
Do tern have life time warranty as well?

At least recommend me a model from tern or dahon.
Really confuse with all the model.

Not the whole bike. Last I know is the frame is given warranty for 5 years and that too after the online registration. Other are moving parts, not possible for warranty lor! Anyway, I never look at the warranty side but given the fact that they do give warranty for frames really says about the quality, right? icon_rolleyes.gif Then again claiming warranty from LeRun industries (importers for both Terns and Dahons....MOST UNFORTUNATELY !) is like begging them!!! rclxub.gif Remember William's case! The shop tendang to Rodalink and Rodalink tendang back to the shop and then tendang to LeRun and then tendang balik to Rodalink. After much dissapointment and finally surrendered, it was repaired at another place, the Tern ambassador messaged him to ask if he needs assistance. By that time, the bike is so highly modded, I don't think they want to give warranty anymore. Hahaha tongue.gif So, my conclusion, go to a bike shop that you feel comfortable with and get to know the boss well. He is the BEST person to give warranty.

Model wise, I have been through 4 Dahon models now. The Eco C7 is good, the Boardwalk (used by my wife is also good, accoding to her lah!), The Speed, needless to comment is also good and finally Vigor which I have tried is also not bad. Another story, another fellow rider who bought the Dahon MU P8, stores his bike in his car boot. Never took it inot the house. When there's ride, he just wakes up and drive to the spot and then after ride, fold and tossed back into the boot. No servicing, no cleaning Nothing! rclxub.gif Yet the bike rides like a dream all the time. Only time is I adjusted the shifters barrel adjuster once. Funnily though, there's another unit, left over from last year still in bike shop. I can get it for RM499 less than the quoted price if anyone is interested.

Yah, you can actually do that and get away with it but my bike was brand new.  I actually don't mind paying Rm50 for the tax.  What really piss me off is Airasia in HK.  I bought 75 kg luggage knowing I am carrying my bike back.  But during luggage drop, they say bicycle is sports equipment and need to buy separate sports equipment luggage for HK$300 for 20kg!!!  I say already have 75 kg luggage but they say those are for normal luggage.

Just be careful if you carry bicycle when using airasia as you need to buy separate luggage for it.

understand your frust at that time. But they are right in executing policy thou.

ACE hardware is selling a folding bicycle where RM500 off 30%. Worth to buy?

Buy that and you will regret!  sweat.gif  If you want to spend RM500 for a folding, I suggest you go for a second hand unit or if you still want a new one, at least go for the Oscar Imagine. At least there's a bike shop to service you later. Ace Hardware don't service bikes. sweat.gif
