Got interesting new package from YES.

It's RM79 per month with unlimited quota.

BUT

Only for fixed address.
Private IP
60GB quota on TnC (currently un-implemented)

But I believe it's quite a good package beside lowend streamyx package.

Nice find aneip!

Finally a wireless provider that offers real fixed broadband for use on PC.

What most people want now is an alternative to TM's fixed line and by far NONE of the ISP offers a true UNLIMITED alternative to TM comfortable monopoly.

All the mobile telcos seems to have got mixed up with the definition of mobile internet which their quotas are only restricted to a few gigabytes.

These kind of usage is only meant for those who intend to stick their SIM inside their smartphones and talk about expensive!

DiGi Prepaid Internet is selling 4.5GB for RM100 and once used up, your line gets blocked, just for comparison.

da technical answer is too long & complex.
but da simple answer is,
"it's ain't yours, it's YES 4G's. We want your money."

All the information I put here is from their own FAQ.. At least they admitting about the limitation put in place for this package. While it's quite restrictive, I think it's better than other provider which said nothing but implement all the limitation silently.

And i hope this will drive lower price for our broadband.. I still can't understand how 1Mbps streamyx package is still RM110. Hoping to see cheapest broadband will be Rm50 with at least 1Mbps speed and not 384Kbps.

That seem to be streamyx 1mbps standard speed.

I would probably get one and have a try with it.

--Update--
Attached Image

Just saw this, contract period seem to be 24 months. That's definitely going to drive me away from it.

More info, Yes is supplying a special white version of the Zoom device as a fixed modem for this service.

It may be only 1mbps but it's going to create a shakeup in the mobile telco industry for being the first brave one to defy the odds of having the outdated volume quota packages.

Having used Yes, 1mbps should be very consistent with the Zoom device with good signal reception when most people can already hit over 5mbps with it.

What the heck UNLIMITED consistent 1mbps with good international links is way better than LTE with very small quota.

I watch streaming videos mostly before sleep, a few updates on my apps and surf multimedia rich websites.
Consistently hitting over 1GB daily in just under 3-4hours before sleep.

To give you a good idea, a 10min 720p streaming video will already take up ~180-200MB.

Malaysian telcos got it mixed up with Mobile Internet Vs Fixed Broadband

Once you insert the SIM into a USB dongle and start using it on a PC, the consumption is a whole different definition.
Easily, you would spend much more time and traffic flow in/out without your knowledge even when you leave the PC idle.

There is no wireless ISP at the moment in Malaysia that challenges TM fixed broadband in offering UNLIMITED monthly quota.

Even P1 WiMAX failed and they were swayed away with greed to compete on the mobile internet category because they lost direction in realizing the difference between the 2 markets.

If they have went to compete directly with TM on offering fixed broadband, they would have only 1 competitor to share the market with that is TM themselves.

As you can see, Malaysian fixed broadband sector has no competition except for very limited areas where Time and Jaring operates. The other mobile telcos were never serious in offering fixed broadband for desktop use because they are too caught up in the traditional voice and texts lucrative markets.

Many of them only want the public to think that mobile internet is only confined to smartphones, iPads and tablets since they consume very little volume while they can continue milking the users like cows.

Fact is once you start using the modem on a desktop PC, the consumption of data becomes leapfolds from that of your mobile devices.

If we continue on getting those stingy quotas, how are we going to do cloud storage, IPTV, Netflix-like subscription and heavy videogame consoles/net apps updates?

For price comparison look at Digi's recent Prepaid Internet Plan.

Startup pack: RM25 with 500MB of data
Speed: Same 1mbps/384kbps

The price? You'll vomit blood just to retrieve data about the size of a regular DVD(4.7GB)

DiGi charges RM100 for just 4.5GB of data. Once quota exceeded even when internet days is not, your internet gets cut off DEAD.

Does it really cost that much just to retrieve data the size of a DVD when even the original DVD itself might not even cost half of it? To think that our ADSL fixed lines can offer for less with all you can eat UNLIMITED quota, it's just ridiculous.

Another comparison is Maxis Hotlink Broadband, just 15GB for RM180???

If you use that on a desktop with all that speed, it's just a matter of days...

Agreed on yester-century quota.. 60GB might be a good starting point for fixed/home broadband.

24 months contract is quite a drawback but to think that's this plan is starting a new segment I think it's still acceptable. It's better for yes to offer 7-days trial or at least lower penalty something like Rm300 for terminating a contract.

The reason why Yes would only limit this plan for their brick sized Zoom is not because it give better signal reception.
Also they had such a silent launch that almost went unknown to the public.

They didn't want to spoil the expensive mobile telco's party of selling expensive dataplans which could have offended by VIPs which were directors in those companies.

WiMAX networks which were supposed to offer pure dataplay were meant to provide fixed unlimited broadband from the start competing with xDSL and other fixed line technologies.

I don't understand how P1 and Yes got themselves mixed up with mobile telco style plans with volume quotas.

I went to three Yes store today, one in Lot10 (flagship store) and 2 in Lowyat plaza, and no one seem to know about this plan! I asked them if I can apply for this, and they started to look confused, asked seniors, and come back with crappy answers (the one in Lot10 said these are for schools, and the one in Lowyat said this are for 'kampong' places only, cannot use in KL, and the other one even said that there are no such plans!)

Dear all,

Just called YTL YES hotline, FIZ Plan is not available to Klang Valley. Even if you registered in our states (e.g. Ulu Yan) and bring it to KL, YES can tried your ID and stop your usage. doh.gif

At first when she said she got an unlimited plan from yes, I spend quite some time telling her that the plan is unlimited but the speed will be throttled after you reached your quota(she's not an IT person, heck, don't even know some simple IT stuffs, tongue.gif),but turns out it's true. haha. Not really sure, but she said she always stream Korean movies, I think it'll be okay, but it's only 1 mbps, having a 10mbps speed while streaming movie can be stressful for my friends, I don't know if the speed is 1mbps. biggrin.gif

So she is not complaining la. I will mainly be watching movies and my wife dramas from youtube. At present my P1 1mbps is hopeless for this. YES claim their 4G is a lot faster than 3G and is sufficient for Youtube.

Just to compare, would you say 4G 1mbps is equivalent to 2mbps on 3G? Tks for your feedback! nod.gif

there's 3 of us using internet in the house,so need wireless. YES claims support for 8 users without problem. I'm more or less certain to go for this. Should the service deteriorate after a few months later, then I will not be happy to continue with the service.

I too am concerned about this 1mpbs. My P1 on 1mpbs sucks. But that was 3G. YES is 4G and they claim it is much faster than 3G. I don't mind giving it a try,but what if it slows down after a few months or slows down due more people subscribe to it. It's a 2 year contract. This is the difficulty in my decision to proceed.

If a service is not rendered as promised,is the contract valid? I suppose there will be so many fine prints which will still make the contract valid!

P1 and Yes both using the same Wimax 4G wireless broadband. Who told u P1 is 3G ?
mpbs is the international standard unit for data speed. In teory all 1mpbs speed is the same regardless 3G HSDPA, wire ADSL,, 4G Wimax, 4G LTE, fiber, WiFi, leased line, microway, satelite etc. If u read carefully, telco said speed up to 1mbps. Term and conditions may apply.

Agree P1 is 4G now,not a year ago. I was told this by P1 SA who called me in July this year and said system is being upgraded to 4G. He is one who told me it is faster. If this is not true, then he should be fired for spreading false info. The conversation was recorded!

SA agreed to test it at my place. Not sure if he'll agree to the test after 6pm as that is after office hour. Anyway that is a good suggestion,I'll talk to him and see if can help out, especially since it's a 2 year contract.

I certainly need to know performance during peek hours. Otherwise like you said doh.gif mad.gif vmad.gif for 2years every time we relax to watch online movie after dinner.......hehehe!

That's why the 7 day trial period helps. I don't mind loosing $150 initial connection fee. It's better than putting up with snail speed for 2years. But they don't have the trial period like some other ISP. So I'm afraid I may only get a one time trial for a few minutes.

Can anyone please do a short review about Yes Fiz unlimited plan ?

I feel like potong-ing my P1, even with quota, it can be so slow.

No p2p but direct download no problem right?
This package seems good if at my place got coverage. Even if quota implemented, 60gb for rm79 is much better than celcom Broadband i use right now.

Edit - At FAQ it say the quota is 30gb.

Called YES guys for a trial. Told them to come at 6pm. They came at 6 :20pm, could watch youtube at my lap top and ipad with out problems. However my smart TV was very jerky. Was streaming every few minutes. They said upgrade work was just done that day and decided to give me another trial. I'll try next week again.

Singed up for it last week. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Download is slow even during non peak periods. Unable to enjoy movies. Since it has no quota,I download whatever i want 1st on my laptop and then HDMI it to TV. Download speed fluctuates between 70kbps - 150kbps. Took me an hour to download a 1gig HD movie last night.

Stuck with it for 2 years. But I still can watch what I want, that's the consolation. This is certainly not for gamers! The only good thing with this is no quota, download any thing and watch later!

I'm in Seremban 2. Btw there is no change during peak or non peak hours. It is stable throughout. I used to be on Maxis. It was very unstable during peak hours ( 6pm - 10pm) although it was 10mbps. I guess I am satisfied with YES for what it cost.

You can call them to try out at your home. IMO it is ok for general surfing. Movies better download and then watch for smooth and continuity. Since no quota, can download any number of movies!

Thanks bro. Imho, I think getting 70-150kBps download speed is quite good for a 1mbps line. At least we pay less and won't constantly DC like streamyx 1mbps.
Will give it a try soon.

Tks for your feedback. It does appear a bit slow but the unlimited quota makes up for it. I just download in the afternoon and watch the movie smoothly later without intermittent streaming. If you ok with this then go for it.

I understand this plan is not available everywhere. Where are living?

Somehow I thought YES was around for a long time. I go to KL often and have seen YES billboards.

YES (no pun intended).. Just as what u said, download now, watch later. Not really the streaming type since 7am-9pm will be mostly out to/from work, 10pm-12am dinner, cleaning up, etc then bedtime.. no time to stream at al during weekdays. Wkends usually chores in the morning, rest in the noon, then outing either later for dinner or the whole next day.

Always get that "what movie did u dload today, abang?" line most of the time.. haha

I'm using it in Kulim Kedah and I can say the speed is very stable through out the day..Just make sure the signal is 3 bar and above on your Zoom..Actually i think it is the best plan for Home Internet if you are not really into very high speed internet..Even streamyx is more expensive and you have to hack your wall.the downside in no P2P (not that i'm using it as i find direct download is better) and FREAKING TWO YEAR contract! All in all i'm happy with it.Certainly much better than my Maxis rm68 with 4GB ABSOLUTELY PUNY quota...

Was trying to apply for this plan this afternoon, since the area I live isn't on their coverage (knew it already before this), is this still possible to subscribe this plan? After the Yes people said they'll test the signal strength on the area you live (within few days later)...

By the way, is this a normal procedure when you subscribe this plan? Regardless you live on Yes coverage area or not...

Sorry in advance since these questions looks pretty 'noobish' ...

Forget about what I said on last post, everything just solved few hours ago, the signal strength on my area is around 3-4 bars/dots (on the Zoom modem) during this period, quite happy with the connections atm. biggrin.gif

If i'm not mistaken, does the first 15 days (after activation) charges on amount of data you used? Not really remember about what the technicians said while ago...

The coverage area is low, its not like the theorical 50km per tower signal when WiMAX first came out.
In where I live, i'm on 3rd story building, but ironically i'm in a blind spot. There are 2 towers within vicinity, each is direct of 2.5km, (somehow quite exact, using triangulation measurement)

and I get 0-1 bar. Figures. These are all "on top of schools" towers.

add on:

by the way, does anybody know which / who S.A in Sabah that I can contact about YES FIZ? I've tried calling some numbers that are supposedly offices in Sabah (can search via YES4G website) but they claim no such service exist.

I'm kinda dumbfounded here.

Indoor CPEs or modems should only get good coverage within 2km from a tower.

Malaysian WiMAX providers use 2.3GHz frequencies which are no good for wall penetrations. It's better meant for in building coverage and very small densely populated areas.

Even Wi-Fi which operate in 2.4Ghz frequencies, when you use indoor CPEs or adaptors without outdoor antennas, you need in building APs for good signals.

Malaysian WiMAX operators 2.3GHz band was meant for unlimited fixed line access that required outdoor antenna installation by skilled technician.

But because of greed and bad planning, they turn it into another mobile telco model that sold quota based internet following Maxis, Celcom and DiGi style.

I got my 1st bill already. No charge on amount used, one flat rate charge!

My area I get 5 bars most of the time. Have been watching you tube for a month without problems.

Am happy with YES. Non HD data streams without delay. It is stable, much better than Maxis ,U Mobil and P1 which I tried. I think YES is worth the money.

No trial/testing period. This is bad,cos if you are not satisfied, you are stuck with it for 2years! Installation is $150/-. No other payment required. Bills are every 9th of the month. Pro rata for days you connect before 9th.

I must have hit at least 40GB last month. Damn good for $79/-.

I think this is their registration fee! There's always a initial fee with any service provider. Had to pay for Maxis,u-mobile and PI. U-mobile give a $10/- reduction on bill every month for 10 months,so you actually recover the initial fee. But the service is so very unstable in my area. it's OK in KL.

3. Does the Unlimited FIZ Service Plan have a data quota?
......
At the moment, this plan comes with unlimited data. However, Yes reserves the rights to cap the data quota at 30 GB with prior notice to subscribers.

i realize that yes changed their FUP from 60GB to 30GB..

i realize that yes changed their FUP from 60GB to 30GB..
*
I'm sure after my 2 year contract, the plan will change. This no quota plan at $79 is too good to continue!

Ping, which IINM is the the length of time it takes for a signal to be sent plus the length of time it takes for an acknowledgment of that signal to be received, aka RTT.

You know, the one like 5ms, 30ms etc...

there is limitation in Wimax technology. although u are under coverage. at times there are good signal, bad signal and flaps. for those who need stable connection. to work from home like connect to office vpn. U MUST HAVE 100% ALL TIME STABLE INTERNET. otherwise u face lots of hiccups with disconnection and force to reconnect. what more with 2 years contract.

for those who web surf should be ok. cause u reload web pages when needed. just to refresh if page does not load. by then u are connected.

if u need to know it's best to elaborate the T&C. what are penalities imposed on you if u consider termination? for example everything fine during 1st year. later u had problems which is hard or intermittent which YES team not able to help. think carefully how to go about it.

problem most ppl go SKMM or MCMC, smear YES campaign via fb. it never worked so far from research. end of the day u as end user are to suffer because you are tied to YES legal terms upon signing up. the authorities are smart to protect themselves first, not to entangle with legal issues.

the first batch of user who tested out YES Fiz is obviously good. however when all the resident in rural area starts to signup. there are bound to be problems with speed, stability and connection. this is fact true. what more you are tied with 2 year contract.

even to my former experience P1 Wimax although with 1 year contract for 4Mbps 30GB plan. my suffering happens on the 8th month. till i seriously endure for remaining mths to terminition day.

the same myself with YES 4G after 1 year 3 mths. same shit happens and i shared most of the issues in YES discussion @lowyat.net . benchmark the initial result and compare with current one a year later. it's shocking surprise more users speed down to 50% adding up with services instability. that at my site office at puchong. when u complain to YES care they tell u more users and speed is best efford basis. don't like feel free to call SKMM or contact CFM. eventually i did that and SKMM only act 3rd agent to chase YES expedite the issue especially at wangsa maju which had worst problem of getting connection (well previously more stable at 1 bar). nothing more nothing less. your contract still as it is and solution for me is live up to it till end of your tenure.. good huh! yet to date there are no improvement comparable to past good quality internet experiences. gone are the days with YES. the authorities involved which we as user entrust them acted like puppet from behind only call YES to chase up only...

think back when P1 Wimax started up. so many testimonial of good signal and stable connectivity. the word of mouth spreads the good news . till it comes a day everyone started to rant everywhere.

obviously if u want to talk about the air vs wired broadband. there are limitations especially wireless.

when i look back to wired internet like streamyx. i used for 5 years even with 2 years overlapping contract over another. there are minor problems but most of time internet experience way far many times better than wireless. in overall perfect experience with notebook connected to office vpn.. i mean no disconnections at all.

one important note. when during thunderstorm (ribut petir). your zoom or fiz signal indicator surely blink. this same problem applies to P1 Wimax devices. again it's wireless limitation has nothing to do with ISP.

which means at that point of time, your internet is TOTALLY OUT. if u in need to connect urgently for vpn to work on critical issue. seriously you will be very frust. your boss will be calling u to your mobile. the next day you are to answer show cause. it depends if your company management can accept your valid reasoning or not. so potiential career risk also need to be taken into consideration. some more you are bound to 2 year inprisonment contract which needs to be monthly consistantly paid on time.

the best workaround this issue is wired broadband. streamyx only risk is modem/router blown by lightning. fiber to home is much better solution.

well i m not sure for users using 3G/LTE incase of thunderstorm.

TBH why FIZ appeals to me because it's less than RM100, with the speed of 1mbps streamyx and big quota compared to other wireless broadband.

But 2 years and not stable hmm.gif

however streamyx 1mbps now IINM is RM130.

as always price factor has always been end user decision.

for existing user with phone. you add streamyx is rm88.

the only differences is rm9. [thought fiz was rm75 earlier sweat.gif ]

by the way streamyx and phone is rm110 not rm130.

2 years is very extremely dangerous. if there is development and blockade in signal distribution. u surely will live in misery. this is for sure. the ISP tell u coverage is best efford basis.

i think 1 year itself also risky. but some ppl said thailand give 3 mths contract.. this is bolehland haiz.

signing contract with YTL on the internet services for 2 years is penny wise pound foolish decision. among all the ISP they dare to do so. because they do market survey. Most malaysian have the tidak apa attitude. so they make best use of this as marketting gimmick to their advantage. at same time encouraging others to do so. if none of the user give them business nor supporting their policy. this will surely discourage them and other ISP to follow their roadmap.

some ISP allow you to negotiate on reduction in mthly payment. if issue had been escalated and provider willingly accept as this is due to outages on their end. with case escalated to higher authorities on this. as for YTL YES cannot be so due to mini minor word in their terms and conditions. u sign u already accepted fate AS IT IS.

2mbps fixed line plans should not be priced more than RM100.

Thailand 10mbps fixed line ADSL also RM59 only including line rental.

Asked the YES guys at Aeon Bukit Raja yesterday, they said FIZ only for the felda people, meaning only 'kawasan pedalaman' eligible for it and not us non-felda ppl.

And as usual, they can't answer why when I said my frens in malacca are using it and they're non-felda ppl? doh.gif

Basic facts for those who interested this plan (Yes 4G Fiz):

First of all, I'm not YES reseller, i just helped my aunt installed in very rural area which didn't supported Streamyx at all!
Don't know why, very hard get informations from official website except FAQs. Better contact directly customer support for more details!!

1. You must find SELECTED outlets which offering Yes FIZ plan, non-major cities and rural areas only!

2. Technician will test your area for internet coverage before signup! (website checking is NOT accurate, my hometown is far away and NOT supported, but still can surfing withover 2Mbps speed)

3. RM150 activation fee and 24-Months contract!

4. NO 7-Days Cooling-Off Period in any Yes Plan! (Malaysia's ONLY telco didn't offer COP)

5. Capped download speed is 1Mbps and upload speed is 384kbps, Unlimited quota until futher notice! (Pre-stated 30GB/mth)

6. Latency and Ping time is much lower than fixed line or 3G telcos since it was 4G networks! (Heavy raining might affect connection stability, same to any 3G/4G/Astro services)

7. Modem is fixed location ONLY and supported 1 LAN + 10 wifi users! (Inform agent if you plan to moving)

8. Some websites and P2P is BLOCKED due to Malaysia National Laws! (Same to other Malaysia Telcos, but can be bypass if you know solutions)

Lolx Chuahcs79,

I believe you should do some homeworks first before CORRECTIONS!! By the way, I'm IT Graduated (UK)!
4G tech have 2 standards: WiMAX and LTE (Don't get confused by Malaysia presses)

*For another info, 5G network is deploying by 2017 South Korea Government announced!

QUOTE
In telecommunication systems, 4G is the fourth generation of mobile phone mobile communication technology standards. It is a successor to the third generation (3G) standards. A 4G system provides mobile ultra-broadband Internet access, for example to laptops with USB wireless modems, to smartphones, and to other mobile devices. Conceivable applications include amended mobile web access, IP telephony, gaming services, high-definition mobile TV, video conferencing, 3D television, and cloud computing.

Two 4G candidate systems are commercially deployed: the Mobile WiMAX standard (first used in South Korea in 2006), and the first-release Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard (in Oslo, Norway and Stockholm, Sweden since 2009). It has however been debated if these first-release versions should be considered to be 4G or not, as discussed in the technical definition section below.

LOLX,

Maybe you staying in cities areas and maybe many choices of ISPs for you, but there is still many areas which didn't supported fixed-line internet at all.

Yes WiMax capped at 20Mbps, P1 WiMax capped at 10Mbps and LTE capped at 75Mbps (except Celcom @ 50Mbps)
Yes FIZ plan (RM79) is alternative choice other than TM Streamyx 1Mbps plans (RM110) or P1 1Mbps plan (RM99)

After all, mostly Malaysia's telco capped speed 64kbps/128kbps after quota finished!!
What the points if internet high-speed but LIMITED quota???

*By the way, you're right! Malaysia/Singapore LTE is bullshit at 75Mbps only, because there is over 300Mbps+ in Germany and HK offered 1Gbps speed!!

Hahaha, that true must blamed malaysia/singapore telcos kept spying what users visited in internet, also must blame Malaysia users NOOB because didn't hiding their IPs using Proxy servers and VPN services. Local DNS also sucks big time!!

Malaysians is famous world ranked TOP in P2P bandwidth suckers, telcos must block those sites to protect their IPs and bandwidths!

Taken from their website "Your current Postpaid Monthly Fee will be charged to the current month's bill (eg. Bill for 7th August will contain the Monthly Fee for the period of 7th August to 6th September). Having to pay for more than one (1) cycle of Monthly Fee will only occur in your first Postpaid Bill as no bill was immediately generated at the point of plan activation date to the end of next available bill cycle date. Please be assured that your subsequent Postpaid bills will only reflect the current one(1) month's Monthly Fee."

Basically they pro-rated your last month bill + this month bill for this one time only..

Also you can check your bill at www.yes.my..Just click My Account..YES does not send itemised bill by snail mail

How long you been on this plan? I'm just on my 2nd month, ok so far. You tube on my smart TV also runs fine most of the times.

ive been using for 5months allready.. low ping, stable connection even not full 1mbps. speedtest only got 0.90 mbps the highest with 3bar signal.. can play online games smooth and for browser surfing.. better than stremyx 1mbps for its price i think

My signal strength 5bars most of the time. Although 1mbps,but i only get between 90 - 150kbps,which takes a bit of time to download movies. However as the connection is stable, I'm satisfied with it.Tq

How come you are interested. This is actually considered slow, since download is only 90 - 159kbps! If you are a gamer,I'm sure you'll not be satisfied.

there is no guarantee stable internet conection with either both p1 or yes. we all know wireless WIMAX has much limitation.

best is not entangle yourself with their contractual terms. this is especially YES terms with many legal engineering words. better solution get a plan which u can terminate when u don't need anymore. till your wired provider arrives.

No subscription in KL..If they do this, It will eat into their other plan with data quota..I believe this plan is for rural area where they want to undercut TM for fixed broadband..

can subscribe in rural areas. if u want to move your YES FIZ to different rural location. You must call YES Care and tell them where you go. Then YTL Comm in turn will either approve or disapprove your request upon their own jurisdiction.

if u plan to register from own kampung. bring it to Klang Valley where you stay and work. the device is consider useless. YTL Comm choose not to activate for you. what u doing is violation of user term and services.

besides you are bond with 24 mths contractual term. whereby the device is static non movable.

since the awareness in rural area is low. this is where YES wants to bond as many in contract as possible. while city folks mostly well aware and experienced.

I still think this is worth it. I got it for my parents in Melaka.

Previously they using that Streamyx 384kbps combo for RM60. So many times TM call me to upgrade to 1mbps but I wouldn't let this package go. RM99 for 1mbps is ripoff..

Haha! Now FIZ with RM74 (with auto billing - RM5) it's so much more worth it and I get constant 1mbps with 5 bars.

the Fiz thing is recently rolled out. it always nice and good from begining...

wait till u see most of all your neighbourhood sign up.

no one can predict what tomorrow will hold. when the day comes, u need to hang on till your contract tenure ends. irregardless u like it or not.

As Yes Fiz is targeted for rural area, the population density is not quite as high as those in urban area so I don't think network congestion will be a major problem.. A lot of students in my area use p1 wimax for a couple of years but none of them reported any network slowdown in peak hours..Compared to people living in the Klang Valley which Yes Fiz is not available, most people that is probably using Yes Fiz will be living in landed property where there will be less user per area competing for access as compared to people living in apartment or condo in urban area where might be hundreds of user in just a small area.

depends on which area @KV. outskirt of city center is different. where u only have landed houses and factories way far apart. also tested with problem years later. first lauch perfect 5 bar 15 Mbps. a year later 4 bar 4~8Mbps with unstability.

anyway and anyhow, practically first year is the best experience. the 2nd year onwards will experience differently. it's obvious the case when more ppl signup. there are bound to be problems that eventually affect existing users. thats why the air has it's limit. unlike wired provider they ISP have to provide physical infra & additional ports to cater growth.

i do believe to be fair, those wireless ISP should bond 1 year. that is more than enough. unless if their device is rare and very expensive. like the fiber ONT for example.

True..Any contract should be less than a year considering their device is cheap and their infrastructure is already there..It's not like they have to built a new tower just to accomodate new user..This Yes Fiz is actually value for money but the 2 year contract is what will actually scare people from subscribing..Also their promotion also sucks..Not even their website have any info other than T&C.Wonder why??

YES marketting policy is you sign first. anything to redress contact the YES Care. from there they elaborate your TnC base on the problems case to case. if u want to read alone. you ended up with many guessings. only when trouble hits u know the entire truth.

i am also a YES 4G users i been through a lot.

the best part of it when u file complain to authorities, they inturn publish it for all to read. whereby most already signed up.

like my issue to wangsa maju, they responded by correcting the coverage map to my specific area only. hence they want to play cat and mouse game with me. when the authorities are looking into non coverage area. they can't do much to help... smart rite.

you can contact YES retail partner. saying that your area not under coverage and pin point them exact location. ask them to go on-site test out for you.

my advice if the Zoom/Fiz less than 3 bar. better don't subscribe. here is a link you can select area near you.

http://www.yes.my/v3/store-locator/retail-...349092263307904

to my experiences coverage is subjective manner. although the map shows no coverage. it may not be accurate. it happens at some places in industrial area outside of YES blue coverage area. i can get 4 bar strength.

hey guys, im currently using yes broadband prepaid as i dont have ppl share the internet plan with me. So plan to get unlimited one for myself ( usually do youtube video streaming and football live streaming ).

currently staying at Muar, Johor. passby dont know where and saw a bunting of YES RM79 unlimited quota. so just search and get to find this thread.

anyway, Yes broadband coverage at my place is just fluctuating btw 1 bar and 2 bars. So not sure whether the signal is the same as the one that YES FIZ can get ? any idea?

you can contact Yes authorize dealer in your area who provide Yes Fiz service and ask them go to your places to test it out first before sign agreement 2 years contract,..

ah yes coverage for fiz are using existing infra. if u get 1 or 2 bar fluctuating. this is very unstable. and for YES legal term services are rendered BEST EFFORD AS IT IS.

sign contract good luck to u.

some useful information about Zoom signal strength indicator base on testing for the 20Mbps plan. per my testing experiences.

5 bar - can get above 10Mbps. usually 13Mbps - 16Mbps
4 bar - can get around 8Mbps - 10Mbps.
3 bar - can get around 6Mbps - 9 Mbps
2 bar - can get around 3Mbps - 5 Mbps (sometime fluctuate to 1 bar)
1 bar - can get around 1Mbps & random disconnection at certain times due to climate (reception are somehow sensitive). otherwise on normal days should be stable.

so if you opt for Fiz do expect speed are impacted due to signal strength.

if you streaming using youtube for 20Mbps plan with Zoom..

1 bar - 240p/random buffering at 360p

2 bar - 360p/480p

3 - 4 bar - 720p

5 bar - 1080p

do expect minimal buffering as speed fluctuates due to air medium. don't ever compare with wired internet.

bear in mind your quota exhaust very fast with video streaming.

the YES Fiz only meant for 360p. good point no quota restriction till further notice. difference is white Zoom.

Based on my experiences, speed is affected by signals strengths.
It's ALL depend your skills, and kept testing for optimum speed!!

FACTS: My hometown was totally OUT of YES coverage but still able to get signals and browsing upto 2-3Mbps!! (While in JB is between 2Mbps till 12Mbps)

Signals Strength:
below 75dbm is GREEN @ upto 20 Mbps,
below 90dbm is AMBER @ avg 3-6 Mbps,
below 104dbm is RED @ below 2 Mbps,
above 104dbm is Disconnect!!

While YES FIZ is capped 1Mbps, so nothing else need to do unless placing near WINDOW!!
*Yes Dealers will go to your site and testing BEFORE signup!! No Cooling-Off Periods in YES Plans.

------

Based on Youtube official guidelines and my testings:
144p - NO IDEA, tested very laggy with 128kbps
240p - NO IDEA, maybe required 512kbps
360p videos required 1Mbps (tested with YES FIZ, was loading smoothly)
480p videos required 2.5Mbps (Tested with YES FIZ, loading after bufferred a while)
720p and above - NO WAY to loading~ but can downloading instead!!

Ipoh city area got this FIZ?

Our only unlimited internet plan in Ipoh is Streamyx and no UniFi after so many years.

LTE and 3G so expensive with small quotas not suitable for home P2P and streaming use.

I think for the moment, YES FIZ is good. Cheaper alternative than Streamyx & for the housing area without landline.

I only use this FIZ starting this week. Really hope YES doesn't screw their customer up since the contract is damn 24 months.. & early termination fees is also crazy.. doh.gif

anything with contract is very subjective,..

and for those who fought YTL comm by getting blacklisted under CTOS. the amount will accumulated time after time. if u plan to clear your name and be apply loans. your financial will be crippled.

this company YTL communication is WORST than ah long. if u wonder why SKMM/MCMC don't look at it. well then u know i know. no need mentioning.

Legally this is disputable. If service is suspended due to non payment, they have done you a favor. You cannot be asked to pay for period of non service! Since the contract stipulates payment during this period, it becomes an unreasonable contract. An unreasonable contract, even though signed, will have no legal standing!

Tell me,which court will force you to pay for something you did not receive!

with YES it was never your right to dispute after the contract signed. because with your signature it is your acceptance to agree with whatever policy they are to implement... brows.gif to explain layman if you have remainer 22 mths as entire billing cycle. if u signup postpaid plan rm109 example is your commitment fee. your debts will be rm109 (commitment fee) x 22 (mths billing cycle) = rm2398. the amount is consider you had no default in payment. YTL don't work like mobile 3G network where suspension stops payment. besides they charge u interest.

11. Effect of Termination
(a) Upon the termination of Your account/Agreement by either party You will be liable to Us for:
(i) the Commitment Fee for the entire Billing Cycle in which the termination occurred, unless otherwise stated;
(ii) any voice calls, SMS charges and other services incurred up to and including the effective date of termination; and
(iii) any outstanding amount(s).

(b) Before the expiry of an applicable Contract Period, if You terminate the Agreement OR if the Agreement is terminated due to Your default, You shall in addition to the foregoing sub-clause (a) (ii) and (iii) be liable to pay Us the sum equivalent to the aggregate Commitment Fees for the unexpired Contract Period still remaining as at the date of premature termination (hereinafter referred to as "Early Termination Charges"). However, Early Termination Charges are excluded from instances of conversion of Service Plan where a larger value Service Plan is substituted for one of lesser value.

© All of the above amounts stipulated in foregoing sub-clauses (a) and (b) are deemed to be a debt due to Us and are to be paid by You immediately upon receipt of Our Bill which will be billed to you in the Billing Cycle immediately following the termination of Your account/Agreement. We have the right to set off this debt against any money due to You from Us - meaning YTL Comm can do whatever to you to charge u as they pleased until u pokai. this where mthly interest 1.5% comes to picture

(d) (i) All prior payments by You, including but not limited to any deposit and/or advance payments relating to any Yes devices bundled with Your Service Plan, are wholly non-refundable where termination is due to Your default.
(ii) All unused Data, Data Add-ons, Data Capacity Allocations and allocated free voice minutes and SMSes (if any) are non-refundable in ALL circumstances of termination unless otherwise expressly provided.

(e) All unused Data, Data Add-ons, Data Capacity Allocations and allocated free voice minutes and SMSes (if any) are non-refundable in ALL circumstances of termination unless otherwise expressly provided.

(f) The MSISDN provided for the Service will revert to Us upon termination of Your account subject to clause 4 above.

talking of suspension this is the condition. they start charging interest. the longer your suspension the higher your debts.

(a) We may bar or suspend Your account for such duration as We deem fit if :
(i) Your debt to Us has been outstanding for more than thirty (30) days (barring applies);

(b) Service Restoration: Restoring the Service to Your barred account requires You to have first remedied to our satisfaction the ground entitling Us to bar, including the settling of any outstanding amounts due to Us and any relevant interest charges for late payment. Where an account has been suspended, payment of a prescribed fee may be required for re-connection.
(hidden charges shocking.gif )

this procedure will force u to corner end to under take Clause 11 that is effect of termination.. cause your debt be ever increasing from clause (a) must follow clause (b). you can run but u cannot hide.. brows.gif brows.gif u si beh tahan then clause 11 via legal letter from YTL Comm.

if u must know how they force u to no way street. this is the terms lor... pay up or go bankrupt. u tak da jalan to lari one.... brows.gif don't forget your next month payment and the months to come. it will be accumulated under your personal debts along interest daily basis calculated from 1.5% per mth @18% per annum. this is more like house loan daily OPR rate. the unfair thing they bar u some more xbole internet.... rclxms.gif you be worrying every ringgit with tik tok clock day to day.

6. Payments
(a) Bills are to be settled in full by thirtieth (30th) day ("due date") from the date of each Bill, failing which We will be entitled to charge You a late payment penalty of RM10.00 or interest for any outstanding amounts at the rate of one point five percent (1.5%) per month calculated on daily rest from the due date until full payment, whichever being the larger sum. Additionally, We may bar or suspend the Service until full payment is made.

With this kind of daylight robbery terms also SKMM can issue license to them for operating, there must be some serious corruption involved.

Service suspended already still need to pay yet after line reactivated if user settle it, the months lost with no access will not be returned to user.
Meaning:

[b]Line suspended after 2 months bill not settled, no service until after 3 months decide to settle the 2 months and pay for 3 months after suspension to reactivate line. Will 3 months access be given back to user?

Company minimal loss because equipment bulk cost sure very low since made in some China outsourcing backlane factory and chopped with Yes brand.

i deal with SKMM/MCMC on this issue before. they advice if the ISP terms is too tight u signed. there is a legal bond users have to work with ISP irregardless they like it or not.

there is nothing they can do much.. they can only push ISP in particular to speed up the resolution process. nothing can be done.

just like berjaya property in this forum. the dev signed with digi to monopoly the area. tm not able to penetrate. this issue still go ding dong till now for years. the outcome is residence signed the S&P.

the same issue with safron condo under YTL. the extiva own the internet backbone aka copper cable go to your phone line. the ownership is not open to public. in order to disown this and residence can apply for any ftth. someone needs to buy the infra from extiva than can happen.

the danger is always signing legal agreements. this is beyond their help.

they YTL Comm does not disclose much of the Fiz. for one good reason urban folks are well aware of their underarm tactics.

so this why they launch out at rural area because the awareness is low.

just wish there are no issues like coverage and services disruption will do. contract u cannot change hand. u have to live with it or pay hefty compensation haha if opt out.

it has nothing to do u pay on time. it's a legal bond which benefits only YTL. it's a one way street u slave they are your master.

give it a try then with YTL. then come back tell your tale... brows.gif

they fight back:

& end of the day u still have to pay... this is why I been mention many times YTL Comm T&C are bullet-proof.

No plans to offer FIZ 2mbps in urban areas for RM100-RM120 range?

Also please cut the 24months contract to 1/2 for fairer practice.
1 year contract is already enough.

YES equipment is cheap skate not worth to be tied to 24months full commitment.

not only that if YTL Comm restructure their base station. users are going to cry foul over their contracts.

in layman premise owner forces YTL Comm to decomission the base station on their rooftop that all year providing coverage to nearby residence users. this had happened at wangsa maju setapak.

Line is stable but they are not honest about the Quota.

They claimed that I used up 2GB within 1 day when I only used the line to view two Ip Camera 4 times on that day for about 3 mins on each viewing!!!

wrong thread, if u want to complain call up YES Care for resolution. otherwise go to SKMM/MCMC if there is hanky/panky on the ISP end.

Don't EVER touch YES...
Check which Telco have strong signal at your area since you gonna use it like "streamyx" Fixed landline.

Got Digi/UMobile/Maxis/Celcom
Unlimited....hmm....sure got but you need to look around but usually a "short term gap" measure
until your area got streamYx in future.

Again,
don't ever think of YES

My area has been developed and available for community for about more than 10. And still no streamyx.. rclxms.gif so good.
Thts why i need a plan that gives unlimited quota.

For other telco, yes, plenty brand tht give not so bad service, but i cant find unlimited ones. Once quota used up, speed throttle, and need to buy more volume/booster. sad.gif

May i know why u say dont ever think of YES? smile.gif

Thanks.

Been using it for 6 months now in Kulim..No problem, line is stable throughout the day..Downside is no P2P..If you download using torrent, don't use it.Besides that, for me it is better than Streamyx. No need to hack wall and cheaper..BUT make sure your area is truly covered by YES..The signal on your ZOOM must be 3 bar and above.

smile.gif Thanks for feedback.

And i already subscribed to this fiz plan after some thoughts.
Yeah about p2p, i rarely use tht for now,so i guess its ok.

My place, all the time i get 5 bar signal quality. rclxms.gif

So my own review,
1.Surfing is thumbup.gif smooth, no difference compared to 1mbps streamyx.
2.Speed, flctuate around this +-100KB/s. rclxms.gif "We get what we buy" can describe this.
3.Latency for gaming. this rclxms.gif not that bad because its not wired connection. Playing LoL most of the time, 50-100ms (totally playable) thumbup.gif Only play steam and flying spaghetti monster games, so far, not that bad the latency. smile.gif For others, cant comment. smile.gif
4.Downside, the contract 24monhts mayb a bit too long. hmm.gif

But anyway, so far ,im satisfied, bcoz this the only option i got for unlimited quota(So far). smile.gif

Just the same as streamyx 1mbps package, but cheaper.

No, youtube is fine. Torrent in the other hand cannot (directly). Some say chinese site can't be accesible. No idea what site.

No worry, we have our service team to run the demo (we are base at Melaka, so for on side demo we only cover Melaka region). If customer satisfy with the speed test result and coverage only sign up for the package.

If anyone from melaka wish to sign up this package can arrange an appointment with our service team, or just us an inquiry at sales@eaicomm.com

yea, i also said to the seller.. from what i know, YES fiz totally block p2p.... than the seller keep telling me that even if i download the torrent-ing or got torrent software the YES will allow the connect for first time and the second time they will block my ID and give penalty... so from what he said like YES is letting p2p just to make people pay for penalty... that confuse me alot... thank you for clearing my thought now smile.gif

to ALL Fiz User,
happily using now doesn't mean it will last like that forever,
Signing up with YES Fiz is TRULY ONE SIDED Sword

Mahathiar use to say
Melayu mudah lupa but in this case i will dare to say All User for Fiz mudah lupa as well.

Kindly heed toh2020 advise, remember it is 24month contract, everything will be sweet initially.

with YES it was never your right to dispute after the contract signed. because with your signature it is your acceptance to agree with whatever policy they are to implement... brows.gif to explain layman if you have remainer 22 mths as entire billing cycle. if u signup postpaid plan rm109 example is your commitment fee. your debts will be rm109 (commitment fee) x 22 (mths billing cycle) = rm2398. the amount is consider you had no default in payment. YTL don't work like mobile 3G network where suspension stops payment. besides they charge u interest.

11. Effect of Termination
(a) Upon the termination of Your account/Agreement by either party You will be liable to Us for:
(i) the Commitment Fee for the entire Billing Cycle in which the termination occurred, unless otherwise stated;

I'm using Fiz too atm. Just subscribed yesterday, before I read this thread lol.
For the moment, it is quite good, almost no need for buffering to watch vids at youtube.
Trying to instal Dota 2 later. Will see if it lags or not

I've been subscribing to Fiz from February and so far I satisfied with the connection speed and reliability. No buffering watching Youtube with 360p quality and I able to torrenting with full speed using VPN. The only downside is its only available in 1mbps and when 1 device currently using all the bandwidth, other device will have a hard time connecting to the internet.

Choice is in your hand, consider all other aspects.

Better to go for landline instead, but depends on ur location, as for me, housing area got no landline coverage,so Fiz plan is the best option so far.

So far, satisfied with the service. I need unlimited quota without hassle. blush.gif

I just ditch my Yes FIZ and upgrade to 4 mbps Streamyx. Screw Kedai TM for telling me there will be no Streamyx connection at my place and only can use phone call. I had a talk with Streamyx reseller here in lowyat forum and ask for his help. Less than a week later, TM contractor came to my house to install Streamyx. If I had known this, I would not terminate my previous Streamyx account. mad.gif vmad.gif

Those who went to Kedai TM and they said there's no Streamyx at your house, better double check with reseller here in Lowyat forum for confirmation. The one who help me is ahcheap. You see him a lot at Streamyx and UniFi thread.

Ya, I did know about the contract. I abide with the 2 years contract before because TM insist that there will be no Streamyx line at my place no matter how long I wait. Oh well, what's done is done. To others, don't believe in Kedai TM. I guess they're too lazy to entertain you.

With 2-3 bar I can always hit max speed consistently. Sometime the modem will hang when you online for long period of time. You just need to restart it by switch off and on it again.

Haha, actually it's half true. The YES device itself didn't restrict your connections to TWO but it will struggle to divide the connections if one device already hogging all the bandwidth.

The question is does the line fail after 2 user connected. Only connected wont have problem, if more than 2 devices is using the internet then sure slow down.

Ya, just make sure your place really don't have Streamyx. Don't believe kedai TM, check with agent. Else you end up like me.

Tried myself with ExpressVPN and yes it can bypass YES FIZ allowing me to torrenting at 100kb/s (sad speed, of course). Rather than this, another alternate route is to check VPNLAJU (https://www.facebook.com/vpnlaju?fref=ts), this is ALOT MORE satisfy for kaki downloaders out there

So YES FIZ is state lock not address lock. This is logical because some user live in the middle of 2 tower.

I don't have bad experience with this package as for now. The connection is good, sometimes got down a bit like few minutes (never experiences hours of downtime) & just reboot the router then it's good to go again..

Not only Melaka/Johor have this.. Many more place got but central area KL/Selangor don't have.. YES focused on "urban" area maybe..

p/s : I saw YES FIZ new white modem at dealers nearby my place.. Looks good, the router i mean.. biggrin.gif
