+ Paddle shift responsive. In the Honda, this thing takes few seconds to engage. More like it waits for the perfect rev to engage. You can downshift up to 4 gears (or up to redline). Tried from 7, managed to get it to 3. I see huge overtaking potential in this. No idea what the "S" mode on the gear is for when you can just press the paddle shift directly. Also, no idea why you want that +/- gear change. Maybe if you dreaming want to be Sebastian Loeb, then I can see using the stick, which is still slower than pressing paddle shift. Pressing brake, auto overrides and goes back to D. Downshift or upshift is possible from D, depending on engine rev.

*
If one were to press the brake pedal and downshift at the same time, is it possible to get engine braking?

Not sure. If the RPM is too low, the D will kick in. So you need to time with the downshifts. I did around 100 km on 7th gear, then every downshifts seem to increase the RPM by 500. Max I got was from 7th>3rd gear at almost redline. After that, it will not downshift to 2.

It is very common to not use auto headlights. The accord have auto headlights, I still use the manual because, the auto cannot turn on the position lights during dusk/dawn time. The auto lights are either full or no light. It needs to be quite dark for it to on, so I rarely use the auto light.

doh.gif. Overtaking also got a few class. High class fly over the car in front?
*
High class is overtaking on the right, and use signal lights when vehicle in front is hogging the fast lane. No tailgating.

Low class is tailgating close to vehicle in front and overtaking on the left fast-n-furious style.

As for your comment about flying cars, that won't happen anytime too soon, though perhaps sometime in near future cars may have that capability.

Does anyone know or any owners know what is that 5 year warranty is? What are the T&C?

Not mentioned on the proton edar website.
*
It's the same as Preve. 5 years/150000km whichever comes earlier and you have to get every service done at Proton SC. 10 years for power window, 5 years for engine and gearbox (IIRC), 1 year for battery etc....also got 3 years warranty for something else, cant remember from the manual.

My impression so far, after five days.

When you stopped at the traffic light and started moving, for the first few seconds, the engine is noticeably louder, and takes a little effort to accelerate. But after maybe 6 to 7 seconds, it would become smooth again. Driving on the highway is f***ing awesome! I really enjoyed it, the meter showed 6.5 litre per 100KM when I drove on the highway.

The leather seat is really awesome. I actually spent quite some time just lepak and tidur tidur ayam in my car.  biggrin.gif
I have clocked about 380KM in the past five days, and spent about RM80 for that. Average fuel consumption on the car showed 11.1 litre per 100KM for now.

The GPS works really well, my only complain is the resistive screen is a bit annoying because I believe many people are used to the convenience of having a responsive capacitive screen.

I tried connected my phone to the car's bluetooth and surprisingly I can answer call, and talk on the phone without holding it. I tried calling my friend with it, and he could hear me crystal clear. I can't find where the mic is located in the car, but it sure is a nice feature to be talking on the phone while driving, without holding the phone or handsfree equipment etc. Nonetheless, the problem is his voice didn't come out from the car's speaker. I think there must be some setting options underneath the android console that I have to tinker with, to make it work. Will give feedback further when I find it.

Auto-wiper feature is very nice, as it will adjust the speed of the wipers, according to the severity of the rain. Heavier rain= faster wiper. Rain stopped= wiper instantaneously halt its operation. Nice  rclxms.gif

Auto-folding side mirror is also another neat feature of this car. It would auto-fold when you press the lock-button on your key fob, sparing you the effort to try opening the car door, to ensure that you have indeed locked the car.

By the way, not having a dedicated boot release button is not a problem at all. (Paultan's Hafriz Shah complained about that thing). Just press the unlock button on your key fob for a little wee longer, and there you go, the boot opens. smile.gif

I don't really know much about cars in general, so I can't really give a technical review for you guys.

The only thing that I don't like about this car now? Its noticeable engine noise. Apart from that, it is a really beautiful car, well-designed, and make people turn around when you drive pass them. Ride and handling is superb, as expected from Proton/Lotus, and I really enjoyed riding it when I melalui selekoh-selekoh tajam.  notworthy.gif

To be honest, I am still a wee bit skeptical with the quality of a proton product, but I am willing to give it the benefit of doubt, at least this time around. I hope it won't disappoint me.  tongue.gif

I will write more when I find something interesting/faulty about this car.
*
I'm ok with the engine noise, but the wind noise is apparent when driving >120km/h. Thinking of getting after market insulation for this. I want to drive fast quietly brows.gif.

Mine is pretty sensitive, it turns on even in a short tunnel or early evening (after 6.30pm). But I turn it off when I'm in a basement parking (segan la..hehe), i think the DRL is enough.

Not sure about that, but i think there's a fine print somewhere that defines lifetime as 10 years (which i think is more than enough). Need to check the manual again and see.

Hi,

So I introduced myself previously as being driver of white suprima tailgated by my bro in bmw. To be honest, I don't think it can beat even the 320i but with the engine, it's like you can get the power anytime you like with the max torque so early at 2000rpm. So, 320i will be left in smoke as I floor the pedal but in time, the 320i can still catch up.

A short review, some unlikable things first;
1. one of the roof rubber moulding was loose, got it replaced immediately.
2. The bluetooth system not working yet for me. Probably problem with the phone as it restarts itself everytime I got it connected to the car. I'm on Note 2.
3. I prefer BMW instant fuel consumption meter using needle vs digital display
4. Sometimes, difficult to shut the door
5. I'm from satria neo, driving position feels higher and steering is lighter. Probably, just need to get used to.
6. Engine noise. Whining sound from engine can be heard clearly. It's sweet if it's not CVT, though. CVT noise only appear occassionally.

The positive:
1. Power on demand. Merging into highway, overtaking is smooth
2. Stable ride
3. Excellent audio and I do prefer resistive touch for the screen for the tactile feedback is important
4. Spacious inside. Even looking at the big aircond vent makes it feels more spacious.
5. Simply looks good in white though will require extra care
6. Ergonomics of driving. Armrest on both sides are very comfortable. A lot of storage areas. Signal/Wiper stalk feels good to touch and set.
7. Excellent leather seat

That's all I can think for now. Will take more time to play around with it. thumbup.gif

Cant be. I get a lift in Cfe car. Everytime it goes in basement, the lights come on without fail.
It can be turned off if auto is not needed.

When you downshifted and RPM shoots up did you feel the engine braking effect? I've never driven a CVT car before....

i only drove EB, but i tot that was the same CVT with preve.
to feel the engine braking, u should full release your throttle pedal.
it is still in 'D' position for EB while downhill and i can feel strong engine braking.
