QUOTE(glozz @ May 19 2008, 07:48 PM) Turf shoes are meant for turf and cement. Playing them on carpet, terraflex or any other surface would mean too much grip and cause injuries when you're turning. Brown flat surface shoes are meant for carpet, terraflex and the opposite of turf. Playing them on turf, cement and the wrong type of surface would mean too 'lil grip and slippery. Most just buy brown since they're more versatile. Which part of Klang do you play in? The Roof? I'm not sure how I would rate my game tempo, I'm playing every Tuesday with a bunch of young and uncles, I'm playing every Thursday with a younger audience that is certainly higher tempo. If you are interested you can come along for my sessions as well, though I must admit I doubt they are really good players. How would you rate your playing level and which day do you want to play? I play fridays and sundays in Klang. If you're interested and don't mind playing high tempo levels and games, PM me for the details. I doubt I'm that good to have tips for you though. |

Played my first game in the Rawang League last Sunday. Drew 0-0 with a team comprising mostly of schoolboys. My forwards & midfielders were a disappointment, one midfielder even managed to get himself sent off after only being on the field for 20 mins. We were expecting to win our first game to boost morale, but the opposite happened. The very, very bad pitch didn't help of course. I didn't have much to do, not even a basic save. Just picking up loose balls. Only one dangerous situation, when one of their midfielders beat our offside trap & was clear, one on one with me. He tried to lob the ball on top of me but it was too high. Other than that, nothing.
The next game we're gonna be up against a Police side, so I'll be expecting a tough time, perhaps even picking up the ball from my own net more than once. Not being pessimistic, just being realistic. But I'm quite happy with my form nowadays. Felt pretty good. |

I might be bringing another friend along if you do not mind, he's outfield but he's lacking in the basic foundations of it, kinda like me, but as I'm a goalkeeper, I get to escape with it more. I play every Tuesday in Subang's SP, the one near Summit. They would love a goalkeeper as other than me, the opposition one is usually rotated between outfield players. The only drawback I see here is that they only play for an hour, which I don't think is long enough |

Alright guys,
Myself and Howard are planning to organize a weekly training session for FUTSAL goalies; doing drills which are readily available online or improvised. We can arrange for most of the equipment but the main drawback we face now is a court to train in. We've tentatively agreed for HTO's really small court which would be suitable for 2 of us; but ideally; larger courts will offer a much much better training. Therefore; I would like to ask whether there's anyone out here interested? I can lead the training; but I do not have a CV of any kind nor any kind of coaching experience; just been playing futsal GK for 'bout 6 years. And the passion. We need committed GKs who're willing to train weekly consistently. Tetatively the plan is as such: 8.30 - 9.30 PM Every Tuesdays Location: HTO Subang Jaya worse comes to worst. We need COMMITTED ppl; interested please PM me. Thanks. This post has been edited by glozz: Jun 9 2008, 04:03 PM |

There's a lot of good quality gloves around. What do U mean by "good quality" anyway ? Perhaps U've been looking at the wrong place. If U look at those Studio R or RSH or even Al-Ikhsan, there's a very remote chance U'll find a good variety of gloves. Pertama Complex is the place to go. If U can't get there, then there's always online shops. Maybe glozz can help U out. Guys, last weekend I played in the PNB Group soccer tournament in Maybank sports complex Bangi. I played for Sime Darby Bhd team, comprising some very talented players, & also some seasoned veterans (like me). The tourney started on Saturday, although I was quite reluctant to give up my weekend, I went on, just wanna help a friend. The quality of the matches were high, strong teams like Maybank (2 teams) and UMW Toyota (2 teams) took part. We played 4 matches on Saturday, won 2 (including a 1-0 win against Maybank B), lost 1 & drew 1. That put us in the 3rd spot, qualified for the quarter finals, which was played yesterday. Yesterday however was pretty chaotic. We arrived late coz we thought ours was the 2nd game. But the 1st match was called off becoz one of the teams didn't turn up. So we had to play 1st & without any proper warm-up. We scored 1st actually but was ruled offside. I had to make one save in the 2nd half from a powerful header off a corner. Then I misjudged one cross, completely missed it, & fortunately my left back was there to block the shot. Then came the decisive moment. A long ball was floated inside my box, I called for the ball, but my last man, proly he didn't heard my call, attempted to clear. But his clearance was weak & straight to the onrushing striker. I managed to parry the 1st shot, but the ball dropped right onto another striker. He was smart enuff to shoot past me. & that was it. We got knocked out. Quite frustrating to go out like that. I thought I played well throughout, I haven't played for two weeks edi. That was why I was quite reluctant to play. But considering the quality of my defence, & the quality of the other teams, we did quite well for a team put from scratch. I guess I'ma play for them again in the coming tournaments. |

You have met one of the requirement to shop online by mentioning "its very difficult to find in malaysia". Fingertip Replique E5S (my current favorite) goes for about RM110 in Pertama. Maybe U can get for around RM100 la. Fingertip replique E6S from Prodirect is 19.99 pounds, around RM128. & that's is minus shipping. Not really overpriced I think. But I'll be the first to admit Malaysian market lacks choices. & there's simply not enuff demand. Nobody wanted (or even knew) about Sells gloves in Malaysia, so no importer la. But then again, if U have money ... just go for it la. |

I'm totally fed up and hence I opted for online store, which there are plenty of choices i can browse around, I spent about 3 hours in browsing for gloves in my previous order... my current favorite is Adidas Fingersave Alround E6s... very comfy and it comes with 6mm ultra soft latex, durability is very good as well, used it for about 5 matches still no wear & tear, except there's a slight wear on the finger part, got stepped on by a striker yesterday... No body wanted Sells gloves? glozz got a few of them... |

I also wanted Sells gloves, but I'm quite happy with what I have now. Also, I'm not a fan of FPS gloves, to me they're heavy & restrictive. I'm an old school keeper. Minimalist glove like Fingertip Replique works fine for me. I guess I'ma stick to the Fingertip line for now, unless I can find other roll finger gloves, like Puma King.yes, indeed, malaysian market lacks choices... Well; FPS gloves are real fingersavers; especially for me. I've got long-term injuries in almost 80% of my fingers. I wear FPS gloves and volleyball fingerguards while they recover.
The lotto pretty much sucks for futsal on anything other than turf. One dive and you'll see latex flying. Been on a non-temptation drive? heh. Anyway; nahh, think I've given up on football. Knees can't stand it. As it is; I'm feeling old with 4 futsal sessions /week and 1 training day / week. |

In futsal, any kind of injuries you could imagine is always POSSIBLE.
A fren of mine almost had his finger broken while goalkeeping... he was trying to catch a high ball when a striker attempts to head the ball into the net, when the striker jumps, he causes the GK lost balance and the ball hit his ring finger directly and causes hyperextension, you can almost see the bone joint coming out between the finger and the palm... i almost had phobia on this and was thinking to quit futsal... Personally I also had quite a number of finger injuries that stopped me from playing for a couple of weeks... ever since i realised there are gloves with fingersave feature, i stopped purchasing non-fs gloves. I'd rather spend a hundred bucks more for better protection... rather than losing my fingers due to some hero-wannabe strikers... which is not worth it at all... glozz, you're still young lah... i thought u wanted to be like an old fren of yours that is about 40+yo but yet still very fit and agile... you are quite there already, stop giving yourself excuses... |
