uhlsport?? malaysia got one ar..? see al-ikhsan and RSH all dun haf one...

Aye, I've looked all over but never seem to find any, I think its probably due to the small market here as they primarily manufactures gloves and are less famous in other areas (from what I think) while the other brands like Nike or Umbro supplies other stuff like boots thus making the shops more willing to depend on well known brand. But I heard about how great it was from few of you guys here, and couldn't resist it.

The price stated on the panel was RM109.90 with discount, so I was more than willing to pay for it but when he told me it was RM50, i almost died doh.gif ... And for RM50, I'd say it's more worth it then spending more than that amount on a subpar Nike / Umbro which soft latex would ruined given the games I'm involved in.

A good tips for goalie:-

Always be aware on the player that you are not concentrating when you are looking at the ball. They are the one who can make the difference.

Think ahead of the opponent. Look for any chances that he can do, and try to cover it.

Always pressure your opponent, in such as rushing out, punching the ball or etc but stay calm and concentrated.

Keep interaction with your back 4.

Last but not least, practise make perfect.

As for me, I'm one of the rare keeper who preferred to play with bare foot and without any glove. In field or in futsal, it doesn't makes matter for me as long I know that I can perform and do my job.
*
Some good advices there, I cannot stress enough communication with the back four, telling them to get back into position and reminding them about mistakes they are making. Also remember to compliment them often on good plays like good defending or clearance, it does boost their self belief and often do play better.

I used to do that too, but far too much injuries to my fingers and toes make me think again about doing. Probably bad techniques, but I feel more comfortable with protection on.

That said, I've cut down from playing almost everyday to once a week to haven't been in field for almost two months, so I do suck bad now biggrin.gif

I never knew you play goalie also <.<

I got it from Penang, one of the corner shops near Jalan Burma and co., since I don't really know about the streets and got there more or less by mistake. The shop is owned by a couple of chinese old ladies who are friendly and give good discounts biggrin.gif

Here's the pictures as promised .. ok, there is problems with imageshack and lowyat's uploading, so i uploaded in flickr instead, hope you can see it:

Ermm; you can easily get the goalie shorts at al-ikhsan sunway or just go to Pertama complex. They're easily available. Pertama has quite a wide variety of gloves to choose from. Not sure whether the price will be the same; but they've got quite alot there.

Glove wear and tear also depends on how you use it. Landing and getting up using your hands will tear any brand of glove; just a matter of time.

Yup, I remember some user said they do have Uhlsport, so I assume there are places who carry it, although not in large quantities.

And gloves will tear sooner or later, I'm just hoping this latex is more harder than the Nike ones since it tear the first one or two days of use, most probably due to my poor techniques and also my preference to use hands to handle anything, even those where other keepers will use their foot for.

Ermm; KL. Next to Sogo.

Something to note though; if you're injurring your thigh and buttock areas frequently; it could be that there's a problem with your landing technique or landing. With proper technique; you don't even need goalie shorts. They're just for protection against carpet burns.

hey, a question to the keepers that wear long sleeves, do you tuck ur sleeves in the gloves, leave it out, or is ur sleeves just nice?

mine just nice at the wrist, meaning it's always out, coz very hard to tuck it in.

well i think cuz i played in the futsal place where the pitch is kinda bad condition... once i got it injured, high possibility its gonna repeat again unless i go to a specialist...

well when i wear long sleeves i just leave it like that, i nv tuck it inside the gloves...

I don't quite understand what you mean by bad conditioned pitch. I've played on cement, grass, tar, sand, rubber, wood, carpet, artificial grass; never had the problem you describe. I assume the problem is somewhere around your thigh area? Should be a diving stance problem then. Do you warm up as well?

I've had a thigh problem; but that's the front side of the thigh; basically the lap area. Got it from a freak accident while kicking a ball. It recurred couple of times. Solved it by upping my water rehab exercises I learnt from my ol' physio. I would recommend you go to a physio rather than a specialist for sports-related injuries. They've got a much higher healing rate and you learn to live with your injury while using the other muscles in your body to compensate.

Just my opinions though.

well..1 good way was keep on shouting at them during match if they wander too far.
I used to watch my goalie idol, the great dane peter schmeichel play and learn a lot from him
his on field communication with defender is one of the best
you can keep on watching him interacting with the back 4

bout playing with or without any boots and gloves, i say it is on the keeper choice.
for me, I still trust my bare palm rather than glove(after few experiment).
it's about comfort and while bare foot might cause much higher injury(malaysian field doh.gif ), I feel weird wearing a pair of boots. tongue.gif

i dunno man, i didnt dive hard... ok for example, on wed, i usually stay really down as if like i was squatting down, i went down to my left side to stop a shot, n BOOM it hurts like hell... probably, my muscles r weak... i did warm up everytime but guess its not enuff....

I need a new pair of futsal shoes, do you think I should go for those branded ones like Nike / Adidas or those cheapo ones like Admiral?

I always though of shoes as just a protective gear and never essential to my game, so I would like some opinion biggrin.gif

Hi all,

Great to see fuzzy, glozz, krazychinaman & others keeping this thread alive & kicking. Haven't been able to log in that frequently. Haven't been playing that much lately, except for my usual weekend games. I'm not attached to any clubs currently, just playing for my local neighbourhood team, winning the local tournament 2 weeks ago in the process.

Uhlsport gloves, i believe are still available in Pertama, although the last I checked there was none of the new models was in store. They still only have those old 2005 Absolutgrip models only, still selling at an insanely high price of around RM250. U can get 2 pairs of the excellent Lotto G-Force for that price. The one ... one of U guys bought in Penang is the quartz model I believe, the palm is harder than usual, it's for hard surface, or futsal. To get it at RM50 is a great bargain.

I still have 3 pairs with me, & I dunno whether I'd wanna buy new gloves since I'm not playing as much as I used to, although the new Nike Grip 3 (replica of Lehmann's) looks pretty good. I still have my Tiempo Grips which I use as my training gloves now, but I didn't like the palm, U have to really moisten it to the point where water will drip off from the glove for it to work. But the new Grip 3's looks pretty good.

Well, the fasting months starts tomorrow, meaning I won't be playing for a month. I'll keep in touch. Chiow !!!

i tried it a few times but i dunno whether o not it will damage the rubber texture...

I do that, it does increase the grip. But I only do it before the game though, I'm not sure if we have to constantly maintain the moisture, though with the new Uhlsports, I've discovered that it can't handle some of the ball even with moisture so I've had to spit on it a few times, it did improved but at the end I resorted to using my old pair after one too many slips.

I think this is the first time I notice the 'personality' changes among gloves, so it taught me a lesson to choose the right pair next time if I need a new one and also do not throw away old ones until they are truly useless biggrin.gif

I saw in Al-Ihksan's webpage that the F10 are going for RM119, so I'd be scouting for that or another model at RM99. Heck, if luck have it, I might even end up with an old Total90 model, but I understand I'd be wise adviced to go to Pertama Complex to scout for such deals sad.gif

No, it does right down to the size. Very lucky, this one biggrin.gif ... It was good in an earlier match with a different ball, I put it down to the ball used rather than the glove itself.

haha u sure? where u guys play? for tournament?...

not for tournament laa.. but for challenges..
always rotate keeper due to players lacking of interest in that position..

btw, i feel most importantly a keeper must:
1) Be able to cover angle properly
2) daring enough to rush out in order to give no time for strikers to pull the trigger
3) stand big and wide
4) fast and quick moving around
5) release fast counter attack when there are opportunity
