Uhlsports is still widely available & still the glove of choice for many top keepers, although they are losing their market share to Puma, Adidas, etc. New models of Uhlsports like Chimera, etc are not available here in Malaysia & even their old models are still very expensive here, which is why ppl dun buy em. Same case with Reusch. |

Hey Tenno,
Thanks for your advise on glove care and selection 'bout 3 months ago. I've since gone on a shopping spree of sorts after not having worn gloves for like 10 years or so. Guess it's been a necesity since I've started training and seen the kind of shots I thought I stopped seeing since I stopped playing competitively some time long ago. Presenting; my buys: Nike's Grip3. I've been impressed by this gloves which I got for RM105. The foam's quite lasting and durable, not to mention the grip. But requires some watering as it does tend to dry up after 1 hour in. I usually train/play for 2 hours. Lotto's futsalk_pro. One of the best pure futsal half-gloves I've seen in stores so far; especially with it's durability. Doesn't require much watering. Has finger-gel backing for slight finger protection as well. Current wear and tear is after almost 1 1/2 months of twice a week training or play. Grip's the worst among the rest though; as a trade-off. Definitely worth the RM80 price tag. Got myself 2 of these. As mentioned to you; these were the T90 Spyne Pros I bought after consulting with you. The fingersave's are quite durable though; but the glove's 'bit tight since the box said these were 9s but I was shocked to find out the tags stated that they were 8s. Only realised when I got back though. Fits very snugly; but I'm concerned 'bout the wrist protection; due to my weak wrists. Foam durability seems to be a problem too; the above marks are after I think 3 hours of play. Not very impressive; but I reckon it was meant to be soft gloves. Same as yours; which you've already reviewed. Haven't worn them yet though; so will try to do so later. The chemical smell is horrid though. Had to wash it once; and planning to do it again. Currently rotating the Grip3 and the futsalk as training gloves. Planning to get 1 more sub-RM100 full-glove as backup for the Grip3 though. Any suggestions? Thanks. Nice gloves U got there glozz.
Currently I have no plans to buy new gloves, since I'm only playing max. 3 times a week, & only 1 of that is a competitive game (I play every Wednesday at Uniten). My Lotto G-Force is up to the task & I rotate my other 2 for my weekend games. If I wanna buy a new one then I'd go for the new Grip 3, or maybe I'll check out the T90 Spyne. Or maybe this time I'll go for the Uhlsports... dunno yet, have yet to visit Pertama... maybe tonite, heheh. On sub-100 gloves... not many that I can recommend. The new Nike Tiempo Grips have gone a major facelift, but the palms remained the same I guess. Pumas also looks good, some places now have the v3.06 on discounts. |

Probably just me; but I personally find the Pumas relatively over-priced. What're you currently running on?
Anyway; the grip3's quite good value for money; I must say, as it's quite durable. I've been playing it for about 3 weeks; and that's the shape it's currently in. Compared to the T90 Spyne Pro; it's definitely more durable. However; the finger distancing takes some getting used to; as you really open up your palm. The T90 I must say; has impressive shock absorption. I didn't feel much when wearing them; but I'm very cautious due to it's almost no wrist protection and it's too tight to wear wrist supports under it. I've just decided to get another pair of g-force as backup so I can start using the other pair for friendlies and some games. The wrist support is very impressive; seeing as I normally wear wrist supports under the gloves; with the g-force, I can just take it off. Can't find anything interesting from Uhlsports or Reusch here though. Sucks eh? This post has been edited by glozz: Nov 7 2007, 03:33 PM |

Currently I'm looking for the Lotto Petr Cech was wearing before the G-Force. Early this year Al-Ikhsan was selling it for RM70, but I didn't buy 'em, which was a big mistake. The palm is the same as the current G-Force, & at RM70 it's a real bargain. Too bad Cech ain't using Lotto's no more, he's currently using Adidas. The one Adidas I really like is the old Response, negative cut. But at RM299, it's more expensive than the Fingersave, & only GS Gill have them.

What model is it? I thought it doesn't come with the wrist support gel thingy? He's using Adidas now? What a shame though; the G Force is a pretty darn impressive glove. Used it first time couple of days ago. Very impressed with the grip and durability; practically no chips even though it's futsal and it was a very busy night.
I wonder if they're going to stop producing the G-Force's though. Would be a shame. As for Adidas; I think I saw the Response. Was it the Fingertip response? Saw it in PKNS @ RM199 or so. But I wasn't too impressed with it though. Plus they didn't have any in size 9. You ever bought gloves online? Wanna share the shipping? I might be planning to get a pair of Reusch Shortcuts in 'bout 3-4 months on one of those buy-2-promos, but I'm worried 'bout the wrist protection. Or perhaps one of the other models. |

Hi all,
Recently I was selected for my agency's squad for the Sukan Kementerian Kewangan. So yesterday I went to Pertama to get me a new pair of gloves, just as a motivational gift for being selected (not that hard actually, there was only 2 keepers, heheh). I was quite surprised to see the choices, there was more choices than I could remember just a few months ago, with more sizes. There was the Puma v-Pro (RM179.90), the non-FP version of the v-Konstrukt.... & then there was the v-Konstrukt itself ! I was quite surprised to find the v-Konstrukt (as worn by Buffon) here ! & the price I've had the Adidas Fingertip gloves in my mind for quite sometime now. It's the only other roll-finger gloves I know available in the country (the other is Puma King SL, I've those as well). Adidas Fingertip comes in 2 variants, the Fingertip Replique & the Fingertip Climacool (not available in Msia). The difference is in the palm (E6S 3mm for Replique & E6S 6mm for Climacool) & also the backhand material (Normal Polyester for Replique, Climacool fabric for Climacool, obviously). I bought the Fingertip Replique at the shop next to the Lotto shop, actual price RM169, got it for RM119 (30% off). Currently their having promo, all Adidas gloves at 30%. There are 2 Fingertip Repliques in that shop, at the same price. One was last year's model, using the E5S latex foam. But I tested it & didn't like it. It has square wrapped thumb which I found uncomfy & the straps is too small (about 1"), so if U like to wear Ur gloves really tight it's gonna hurt. I'm gonna test the glove in training today, I'll give a full review with pics sometime next week. First impression, it's a minimalist glove, minimal padding, no elastic wristband (which makes entry & exit very pleasant). The latex on the fingers is extended to the back hand by about 2 1/2 inches (compared to only 1 1/2 inch last year). I guess that's where Fingertip got its name from. The glove is worn by Scott Carson & Brad Friedel. Can't wait to test the glove !!! This is the Climacool version. ![]() This post has been edited by tenno: Nov 26 2007, 01:22 PM |

My initial tests with my Fingertips, without pre-wash, has left me feeling very impressed. As I said in the previous post, the Fingertips is very much a minimalist glove, minimal padding, but U can feel the latex all around. The grip was superb but it differs from one ball to another. But I guess it was due to lack of pre-wash. I've already cleaned the glove for the first time on Saturday, after my training, & I was pleased to see there was no chipping at all from the latex palm.
I'll post a complete review once I've used it more. Although I plan to use it as my second competition glove, this few days I'ma use it just to get used to it. So far I'm very pleased.... |

Well, since there's no elastic wristband, the fit on the wrist is only as good as the wrist straps, but U can put it really tight to prevent injuries. There are Velcros placed at strategic places so that the wrist strap won't slip out of place. As I said, it's a minimalist glove at best.Check out the Umbros, then let me know what u think. It's at the shop next to the Lotto shop (not the big shop which also sells badminton rackets). There were at least 4 models there. Even the Umbro shop don't have those. |

I've got a friendly match against Maybank today, so it's gonna be the first test for my new Fingertips under match conditions. I dunno which team Maybank will field today, but the coach is expecting the Maybank team from the Premier Club competition. If that's true then I'm expecting a bz afternoon, perfect test for my new gloves.
Just to kick things back up again for us keepers (this thread have been on-off affair mostly), let us chronicle our glove line-up. From the your first ever glove... I'll start. 1. Lion - Cloth glove, ping-pong palm, rubberband wrist closure (Retired) 2. Aero - Cowhide leather glove, very hard when dry, ping-pong palm, velcro wrist closure (R) 3. Henberg - First "true" glove, hard rubber palm (R) 4. Umbro Stefano - First mainstream glove, soft latex palm, lasted quite sometime for me (R) 5. Reusch #1 - Dunno the exact model, soft latex palm, velcro closure (R) 6. Reusch #2 - Also dunno the model, but more expensive than the 1st, latex backhand & palm (R) 7. Nike - Spare glove for my final year in UKM, elastic wrist with velcro (R) 8. Joma Golden - Soft latex palm, the glove I used to make my comeback (Given to ppl) 9. Nike Tiempo Grip - Supersoft latex palm, embossed backhand, wraparound velcro closure (Active) 10. Puma King SL 3.0 - Supersoft latex palm, rollfinger cut, latex backhand (A) 11. Lotto G-Force - Supersoft latex palm & backhand, G-Force wrist protection, overlapping velcro closure (A) 12. Adidas Fingertip Replique E6S - Supersoft latex palm, extended finger tips, embossed latex backhand, rollfinger cut, wraparound velcro (A). There U go, I've used a total of 12 gloves in my on & off playing career, 4 is still active in my possession. This post has been edited by tenno: Dec 3 2007, 10:46 AM |

Hmm... where'd all the keepers go ?
Well, my game against Maybank didn't go too well in terms of the result. As expected, they fielded a strong team, last year's KL League Premier Club champs. Although I turned up the earliest, the coach still went for the other keeper. I guess it's becoz of my inability to go to the morning's training sessions. So, although some of my teammates said that I'm better than the other keeper, I was sidelined. We lost 1-3, I conceded 1 goal in the 2nd half, & had to make at least 4 saves to keep my team in the game. But I couldn't do much about the 3rd goal, the striker went through my defence, I went in, had a hand on the ball but lost it as somebody kicked my hand. What to do. But overall I'm satisfied with my performance. Then after the game, Maybank's coach requested to have a mock penalty shootout. It went to like 9 kicks. I saved 2. But unfortunately my kick was saved. Then Maybank's keeper managed to save another & we lost. My Adidas Fingertips performed beyond expectations. The grip was just superb, I'd say a little bit better than my Lotto G-Force. The game was played at Maybank training ctr in Bangi, the field was great. The glove felt great & I only had very little wear showing. A little chip here & there, nothing too serious. I've already requested my team to buy me another pair. Maybank's keeper also used the Fingertips, but it was last year's model, the Fingertip Replique E5S, the blue color ones. My verdict? Highly recommended for all types of use, training & competition. |
