I just going to moving into new house (double story). I am able to have pet since when I'm in condo it is restict not to have pet. I just wannted to know anyone know where can adopt Golden Retriever Cheaper. In PJ there are very expensive.

I have seen golden retriever in Ampang SPCA before, but is adult one not young one. You can go there and have a look at what they have.

My friend has a few rescued GRs for adoption.... but they are adults. I will check if they are available but must promise take good care or return to us if in the end don't want lah.

Also got a rescued Irish Setter and many mixbreed puppies.

Ya.. GR look very friendly n very loyal too.. last time when i went to a petshop in subang, inside it hv a GR i think is the shop owner one.. the GR very very beautiful n obey too.. very miss her..

Yeah, Now I am living at condo also cant adopt dog. I love dog very much. Lucky I move to double story house at This May 15. So now i am searching for dog. Especially GR cause my GF like it so much jusy like u all I hope adopt it very soon.

Yes... I adopted 1 GR. Yahooo... about 1 Year old. with price RM750 pure bread with MKA certificate. Golden Color very nice hehe ... Monday i will post his photo for you all

To those who want to adopt Golden Retrievers, I hope you realise that this breed can shed ALOT of fur. Please be prepared to groom your furkids on a daily basis, and dont get upset when you see fur all over the place.

I know a few people who got GRs because they thought GRs are cute, only to neglect or dislike them later just because they shed alot. Be responsible owners ya!!

Personally, my gf has a GR as well, and I'm loving him to bits just as much as she does.

Hmm...tips on GR eh? Err...make sure your GR gets enough calcium, cause GRs are known to develop joint problems later when they're older.

wow... My dog this morning hor... dig a big hole at my sister garden... what does he wanna do ? dig diamond or tressure ? make my sister mad hehe... so naughty ler and he also wanna try bite me also (but not pain, i think he wanna play with me)

It still red but not so red... he already take injection and pill for 2 days. It look like very hard too "pee" take very long time to "pee". It just like old man "pee" in toilet. Slow and little urine i hope he will ok soon or later

Ohhh.... I have a female labrador too! Yellow colour and her name is Tammy, 6 years this year heheheh...

Nice , where do you keep your labrador ? Indoor or outdoor ? And since young ? Duh ...I am just being indecisive .

Hahha... we put her outdoor but she is a lovely thing. Spayed female so a bit chubby. She is a very light coloured lab. Her playmates are 2 boxers which are also outdoors. No one is at home most of the time besides my grandma so big dogs are rough a bit for her. So only my small spaniel stays indoors.

well, I HAD a golden retriever and a labrador before..hehe...

my goldie was Crystal..got her from a breeder in Singapore..poor girl died at the age of 10 months old due to food poisoning...swore to never ever let my dogs go near my house gate anymore...itchy fingers throwing nonsense inside...tht's what we suspect lar..cos we've seen it before..but jus this time din manage to save her...

my lab's name is Pip..cheeky lil guy..he was one of those labs with big bones..a breeder wanted to pair him up with his female pup..so we let him go..since the breeder had a big land and Pip enjoyed himself amongst the other labs..and we were having problems at tht time..

but overall, i love retrievers..such sweet natured dogs..hehe..always trying to please their owners..and so beautiful too..

i'll get myself another retriever in the future..when I have my own house with a nice garden for her..

Wow, losing a dog over food poisoning is very sad... it happened to my dachshund many years ago.

I got my Tammy from a breeder who wanted to give to us for free, but when my parents went ah,.... the breeder discussed with his wife and ask for a fee... but still good buy lah RM500 with cert.

Now my friend got 2 golden retrievers for adoption. Poor souls are 5 years old and need to go as a pair. Reason? I did not ask yet....

Fala is currently indoor but my mom suggests me to get her to stay outdoor after she comes back from training . .. . but my heart wants her to stay indoor , she is still a baby to me and dog snatchers are frequent in my taman at the moment .

Back to Tammy ...I like it creamy white colour than deep golden brown . So Tammy !!!!

Tammy got 2 bodyguards... so that is why we let her be outdoors. Labs are targets too with dog snatchers. How old is Fala? If below 1 year ah, suggest you keep indoors first.

Tammy stayed indoors for her 1st year. Then when she was old enough, only let her stay outdoors.

Hahah... My dad wanted a deep golden brown pup. But she was the only yellow lab in the litter that was socialble. Her sister was a deep brown but so scared and timid. Then all her brothers were black.

i've always kept my doggies indoor...cos of what happen to my golden retriever..AND my american cocker who got lost...i have no luck with dogs..

anyway, Tammy is gorgeous! Pip was the same colour as her...ahh..the memories..

wish i could adopt the golden retrievers..but my place is jus too small for them..they won't get to run around..

We've basically gone through the same thing which is losing our four legged darlings . I once had a ECS and it was stolen , thank to our cruel neighbour . And I then want to keep my dog indoor !!!!!!!

and i also found out from the breeder who i gave my lab to..my lab's future mate was poisoned by some construction workers nextdoor...so sad!!!!!

he's still alright..and the breeder is moving somewhere else to protect his doggies..

Ahhh, next time lah. I always have dogs for adoption but mostly they are mixbreeds and mongrels. Once a while got golden retriever. Oh yah, I got a mini pincher... interested? Hehehe... adoption lah, not sale.

Get bodyguards for your dogs next time.

Fala is about 5 months plus / 6 months .. I too thinking of getting a bodyguard for her , but it's impossible as am staying in a terrace house .

Arent these fellas conscience-stricken ? pei lui pack then they know lah .

Keep her indoors first. I found that if you keep labs with watch dogs, they act like watch dogs also. Coz my boxers bark and act aggressive with strangers near the gate, Tammy does that too.

But once stranger enter the house with our premission, Tammy instantly change into a friendly jumping dog.

Since your Fala that age ah, better put indoors first.

But sometimes they will throw poisoned food to lure your dog to eat... if your guarddog is greedy, then bye bye d...

Yah... that is the worst thing... happened before. Now pray pray no one dare to do such thing yet. My neighbours all nice and like our dogs, eventhough malays... so kinda safe a bit.

We only worry when got robbery case, then they will come to poison our dogs like last time.

yeah, and some people dun like guard dogs cos they bark when strangers pass by...so if u have horrid neighbours, they'll report u and do evil things to ur dogs..kinda sad...they dun appreciate the dogs are jus doing what come naturally...sigh..

good thing retrievers are generally good-natured..

my uncle's goldie never barks at anyone..stranger or not...so one night I told her, if u dun bark at strangers, they might come in and harm us..

so then my other uncle came back and was unlocking the wooden door..and she started barking at him...hahahaha...

Definitely . Guard dog , hmm what do you recommend but it has to be a small breed one ...you know lah terrace house . Another thing I am afraid is my Fala might not like a companion after all . *note* she is very possessive .

terrace house is quite difficult to keep guard dogs. UNLESS you willing to walk them in the early morning when there's less people...

But the size doesn't scare them... LOL...
Usually ppl will look at the size of the dog to determine whether they are fierce or not...
Like Great Dane, eventhough it's not a guard dog, ppl see the size alrdy scare...

Eh this minpin hor ....my neighbour used to own a minpin but it barks 24 hours non stop one ..if in this case , we will all be staying awake late at night guard our home with our minpin .

I have ZERO knowledge about mini pinchers ...so bear with me if I said anything wrong and irrelevant.

So so so true about the physical appearance . I dont mind waking up early in the morning to walk my dogs . I was once scolded by this Ah Pek , he loudly said my labrador will bite him when I was walking my then 3 month plus Fala ....

What i mean early is around 5am
Last time i saw a uncle with around 6 Rottweilers at 4.30am... i cycle pass them, damn scare lar.... hahahaha

Ahh.. to be frank , I am not going to get any dog like a dobe or a rottie as I have no experience in training especially these dogs you have to have great control over them ..so yeah just any dog can bark very loud and face like want to eat you like that then very good liow .

Nice to have a GR I have 1 too just 9 Month currently. You can see in my avatar. GR is very friendly like to jump over my body and bite me (not pain 1)

Remember that always comb GR hair everyday because the flur are always drop. If you not comb it, it will even more to drop. Give more time to your GR it need more interative.

I think GR is very intelligent. I just with him and train him 2 weeks he know SIT, HAND and pick item to me when i throw it away from me. But just need patient sometime I will keep it indoor later because currently he at my sister house. I will moving his earlier June after I finish my MBA courses

IMHO, i think that a mixbreed will do just fine, especially when there's strangers passing by, they'll bark non stop and like going to eat you up kinda look. But some mixbreed are quite timid, so it depends on your luck. Not to forget that most mixbreed are medium-sized so i think it's suitable for the kind of house you are living in.

anyone got a GR up for adoption dying for a companion now. my last dog died with i was 12.. im 17 now .. finally past the trauma. and ready for another dog

I too am looking for a mongrel but I am afraid as it might not get the attention it deserves lor . Much think twice before getting another dog , my purpose to get a guard dog to guard my Fala is a tad bit TOO OVER lor , SELFISH ME .

your Fala is like my GR ler cannot be guard dog 1... get mongrel ? better u get rottweiler it look more fierce... but actually very friendly also just a the already can scare people.

It depends on the owner. So you have to check with the owner about that.
RM1500 with or without cert as it makes a lot of difference.
Cheap dog? Try to look for breeder rather than petshops.

Rm 1500 with cert ........well i call breader ...most of them i got it from STAR newspaper...

low yat forum and www.puppy.com.my is quite good forum for training. My dog with me 3 weeks and he know HAND, SIT and pick his favor toys to me ... I really impress with his performance

Yeah true... it only can get from breader... my GR was get from breader... with MKA cert and microchip it only RM1000 haha. It said the dog cannot become show dog that why sell cheaper... i already with him 3 weeks and it look Ok because i only want is as my guardian or as pet.

I got my Fala via The Star . Obviously lah I checked about other breeds too but I LAB-CRAZE so ended up with something I LOVE BEST AND NO AN OUNCE OF REGRET . I remember hor , there's this old man selling his Golden dirtcheap at RM600+ with cert , the location is Klang . Another one is in Seputeh , RM1200 and negotiable ler somemore champion line he claimed . Plenty . Call up MKA , ask for the breeders no , and then start calling , dont rush into buying a puppy though , choose wisely as it will stay with you for you know how many years .

Wow.. RM 600 with Cert ...damm cheap i think the dog age is 1+ years or more. That y they sold it cheaps.
So far i had check the range is RM 1200 to RM 1500 for a Male Golden.
Hmm..wondering whether should i get a female or male.......
I prefer the colour to be Gold ...but i saw most of the colour of the golden at my place a bit Yellowish....
Champion line ...well i dont think i need that ..... as long the dog is in good health....

I'm glad you know why your GR is cheap. I've been always wanted to tell you bout it but then since you know about it, i'll pass.

Price vary according to breeders because it depends on how much effort they're poured into taking care of the pups. Sometimes breeder sell more exp because they wouldn't want the buyer to just simply take care of the dog. When one buy a dog at a dear price, one would take care of the dog better.

yeah for Dog Lover breader will do this... but just let you know now breader are focus on money and not to the dog. Just like my GR, according to the breader friend, he had never take care of him and just give him good. Alot of sickness like bladder affection also never cure it until i brought it. The purpose of him is earn money....

Dont label all breeders focuses on money. You'll get a handful from me later.

There are a few kinds of breeders

You got the backyard breeder: this one really breed for money lah, never take proper care of the dog. Normally breeds more than 2 breeds but it is not surprising if they only focus on one breed also.

Then got the puppymill: This one will have more than 4 breeds of dogs and sometimes 10 to 20 dogs, they breed non-stop and put in very poor environment. Very sad as the dogs are sold very cheaply also. Normally petshops get their stock from puppymills.

Then you got the homebreeder/hobbyist breeder: This one will treat their dogs very well. The dog is normally a pet dog that has been bred. Homebreeders won't breed so many and might not breed often also. But do check, some backyard breeders claim they are homebreeders so do some homework first before buying a dog or puppy. The prices from home breeder is affordable.

The Show Breeder: This one will have a few to many dogs of the same breed. The owner would go to many dog shows to show his stock. You will notice the dogs are very well taken care of, some even live in air con rooms and get top quality food. Price from the show breeder is sometimes not affordable. It depends on the quality of the dog. Just be prepared to pay about Rm2k over for a puppy from a show breeder.

Think no matter wat category the breeder claim they are, go ahead to their place & examine yourself, & pick the 1 who care of their dog most.

last time when i got my GR, we went to the breeder's home in Singapore to see the pups and the mom and dad...the dogs were well loved by the family and the mom and dad were champion line show dogs..

i remember playing with the dogs in the house..they have access to the whole place, including the bedrooms..haha..

but of course the price was expensive..paid them RM3000..
but that was 9 years ago...so mayb over the years price drop..

the owner often called up to check on my GR's condition too..

so sakit hati when she kena poison....argh..

Show champion line dogs often never drop in price. Like a show GR the price is RM3k above. A show cocker spaniel is RM2.5k above, a show shih tzu is Rm1.8k above... But they are worth the money coz there is quality in the dog. But still depends on what you want, if say for companion, just get a pet quality unless you thinking of showing, then go for a show quality dog.

Always track the background of the breeder coz I was almost conned before by a home breeder that kept giving me stories saying his dogs are better than show breeder dogs and his dogs are imported show line... but see the background, know liao he is a homebreeder that breeds 3 different breeds and he never show his dogs also. The worst is his dogs breed eveytime they on heat. So just beware... the price he gave me was the same as show breeders of that breed.

So best is contact a few breeders and view their dogs. The dogs that are well cared for are worth buying.

I believe my GR is getting from puppymill with very poor condition and bad food. My friend of the breader tell me the food they give just a rice + something inside for them ... Shit... i must take care of him well now ... to replay what he lose last time when puppies

eh ... I going ask one question about my GR. Now he is at my sister place. Every time i go there... he like mad when saw me/gf, when i open his chain and he like mad... jump here and there... like so happy... ok that is fine

but he act really mad... when i bring him go out to garden i release him... to poo and pee and he run like mad also. I very hard control them to clam down. and he go to another people and jump to that people also. I call him and he wont bother. just keep run :-s Any method to help me clam him down? dont Run here and there like mad dog ?

Is he chained up all the time? Does your sister play with him when you're not around? there's a lot of possibility. One word for it, hyperactive...all the stored energy are vented out whenever you release him.
