While doing all this starings, dont forget to praise a lot whenever your dog did rite! This is much more effective!!

Yeah I use to praise my dog... but some time also scold him kao kao... Like my sister... she never hit prince but always scold him when he jump to my sister. My Sister said "NO NO NO", "Go Away" every angry and he never dare to jump to my sister again.

I think they understand ... since my girl seldom scold him... so... she is the target of prince bully

Guys, I am so damn proud of my dog!! I feel like she has graduated to the next level in training. This whole week even when I am out for work, I have left her unsupervised in the house by herself. So far, no problems, no chewing, etc. In the past, I have left her in the crate when no one is home.

Hope it will continue to stay that way and not be jinx just because I praised her here.

Wanna ask
1. IF i need to FIX the feeding time or can i feed him at random time?? I feed him two meals a day - breaky and dinner. For dinner, can i sometimes feed him at 7 pm while at times feed him at 530 pm ?? Can I just wake him up from his sleep during his meal time ??

2. And when i put him in the playpen, he noes whr to go when he wanna pee poo (newspaper). THen when I open one playpen for him to come out, he doesn't noe how to go back to the playpen and pee on the newspaper. Instead, he peed at the doorstep . What can i do on this ?

3. Another problem is after he pee, he tends to step on his own urine. How to solve this too ?

4. When I scold him, he barks back at me . Wud can i do so that he noes when i say "no", i mean "NO"!!

If it is possible, feed it at fixed time, then you will find that things are more managable since if the dog used to the same routine, normally he will do the same thing at the same time, then you can arrange your time appropriately.

I suppose your shih tzu is a pup? So it is common he cant hold his bladder, when he is in his playpen, he can easily find the newspaper, when he is roaming out there, he will feel too happy & when he wants to pee, he cant hold it, & he cant find the newspaper nearby, so he will juz pee or poo as it is. So maybe you can slowly increase the area for him to roam around.

If you are worry your dog will step on the pee, you can use the pad for dogs to pee & poo rather than newspaper, it cost a little more but it is much more hygenic, currently i'm using it & i'm very satisfied with it.

Besides showing him what you does not like, at the same time you have to show him what do you like him to do by praising him a lot, after sometimes, he will understand & will tend to do things that you will praise him rather than those that you will say NO!

Ok I need some serious help.

1. I bought a non-slip mat from Giant for RM9. It has 6 pieces and when put together, its quite large. I put this in his play-pen so he wont shred the newspapers to bits. Now, I am worried that this non-slip mat smells different and he wont go poo / pee on it.

2. My dog isnt eating his dog biscuit recently. I wonder why. The portion I cut down a bit but then he only eat a bit, walk away to rest or begs to come out to play. Why wont he eat? The dog biscuit, he eat 1/3 of the whole big bag already but now he is so reluctant to finish. Put his bowl in his cage for 4 hours, STILL NOT FINISH! WHY? How do I resolve this?

3. Casper still pees on the floor and then he runs away. He 'probably' knows its wrong and was testing my patience so I walk after him quietly and caught him, take him to his pee spot and push him down, then I take a rolled-up newspaper and smack the ground and shouted NO! Then he would struggle. The next two times I hit on the ground, he struggled for his life like that rotating his neck left and right... I scared break. Any better advise?

4. My dog hardly ever sleeps. Whenever I go downstairs, I will see him awake. I come home, I will see him awake. Maybe he still feel unsafe at home. But whenever I hit the ground when he simply potty, later on, he will head-low-low come manja with me.

I feel bad, like I treat my puppy poorly. Teach him potty on newspaper but now worry that non-slip mat smells different, then he confused again. Then he pee, he cabut quickly when he see me turned around. So I had to walk after him and catch him, bring him to his pee spot, he struggle until like kamikaze like that, rather break his neck those type. I feel so heart broken...

Please advise!!

Wow... thanks for the speedy reply. I place the non-slip mat over the newspaper. So the newspaper is under that piece of non-slip mat made out of rubber. The newspaper is beneath it. I just worry he get confused with the whole smell idea because newspaper smell probably covered by the rubber non-slip mat.

Then later he come out of the cage+play-pen-combined. He wont be able to sense that newspaper is potty area cause mat smell overpower newspaper.

Today, I will be out to work. Nobody at home cause grandma has gone to aunt place. Sister will be back by 2pm after school to look after him. I hope he eats what I just fed him 10 minutes ago.

Oic, so I woke him up... I see other ppl dog sleep like pig like that cannot wake up wan. Mine like so alert... like scared ppl come bunuh him like that. Haihhh... I'm probably not doing a good job la.

dont confused your dog. our male maltese also confused. now he's doing fine. we changed the way we train to a softer approach. he seems postive towards this training. praise them alot when they do right thing. n dont scold them too harsh or hit them, they might get wrong message. we never hit our dogs and they r all well behaved.

what you are seeing with Casper with regards to eating is very typical for Westies. my Sparky also has eating problems. sometimes he will finish his food up within 5 mins, sometimes, he will take a few hours. about once in a month or 2 months, he won't eat and then pukes bile...

I see...well..I don't think that's a good idea..1st : the change of smell..2nd : it's inconvenient bcos after Casper does his business..u'll have to wash the mat and clear the newspaper..there's an extra work..without the mat, u'll just have to clear the newspapers..Puppies at this age they tend to bite anything they see..teach him not to bite the newspapers.

Regarding feeding, leave the food there for 5 mins, if Casper din finish it, take it away, feed him at the next seesion.

Gradually, he will learnt that he has to appreciate what is given, or else he will lose it.

Great... I hope I can do that too.... Now when I at home and I give prince go in... he will not chew or break anything. When I sleep he will follow and when i work he will play itself... however I havent try to let him alone and monitor it.

Begging Strips... yellow packet for RM7. Original flavor seems to be many dogs favorite including my Westie and 4 of my other friends' Spitz, Cocker, Silky mixed Shih Tzu and pure Shih Tzu likes it.

And then I dunno if it's normal or not .. My shih tzu's face stinks!! I jz sent him for basic grooming on saturday nite and now his face stinks already. The smell is covering my entire room . Got any solution to this ?? Can i get baby wipe to clean his face daily ??
