6. Shopping at Sukawati. It's damn cheap! And please bargain. I always bargain with 80%. Then you can go on from there.
7. Nusa dua & surrounding beaches (Geger/ Bali Cliff) beaches are incredibly clear.
8. Hire a driver. Don't kena potong. Please search for the standard price in this thread (Min 300K rupiah). Or even rent a car..min 120K Rupiah
9. Eat sate babi at Warung Mayde Kuta(if you are a non-muslim)Eat dirty duck at Ubud. It's nice & Babi Guling.. (ermmm the taste is good but it's not excellent). For Jimbaran seafood choose Lia Cafe at the old Seafood complex...others are expensive
10. Hard Rock Bali. & also window shoppings in Kuta Square, DVD shoppings, Discovery Centro Mall or even Carrefour at Sunset road
11. Stay at ubud. As it'll overlook a paddy field. Nice

1) Bersakith mother of all temples - Damn far & watch out for those blood suckling temple committee that ask for >US30 for temple visit! Pls bargain kaw-kaw if u intend to go there! - Lotsa bad experiences here
2) Batu Karo Pura 2nd sacred Pura in Bali - Very deserted at the foot of Mt Karo - very far
3) Goa Lawah - Very far too on the way to Padang Bai port (In between nothing else) Do visit the beach opposite - It's pure black volcanic beach!
4) GWK park - Heard it's not even completed yet but $$ entrance fee
5) Dreamland beach - More like surfing beach. So water quality so-so only
6) Tempak Sireh -
7) Kunklung royal Bathing
8) Lovina Singgahsana- Very far
9) Penida & Lembongan island ($$$)
10) Tumbalen & Amed diving (Far/ deserted & $$$)
11) Denpasar - Just a city, u will pass-by anyway on your way North

Don't
1. Hire straight away a driver from airport. They'll think you are desperate and take advantage of u.
2. Eat at jimbaran restaurant that's recommended by your driver. I think the driver will bring you to an expensive place to eat. Go somewhere that's introduced in this forum. I learnt my lesson. Don't go to Damoz! It's blardy expensive. + Don't order set dinner. Choose by kilogram
3. Errr walk at midnite back to hotel at ubud. LOL a lot of dogs running around during midnite at that area. They'll keep on barking at u. Scary! haha
4. Forget to put on your sunblock.
5. Don't buy things from people that are hording you!! They come in a pack!
6. Don't go to Pacung for buffet. The food is terrible and it cost us 70k damn!
7. Batu Bulan Kecak dance - Very expensive & unreal dance. Better goto the real dance performed in Uluwatu or other temples.

Any recommended villa for 11adults in ubud? 3 to 4people in a room it's ok...but rm200 per room

Just booked junjungan ubud spa and resort for 2nights. Hopefully it's good. Anyone here can recommend any hotels in kuta that has walking distance to clubbing place?

Will be going to Bali for the Bali Marathon in the following week, will be staying in Sanur. The beach is quieter on this side as compared to Kuta? I stayed in Kuta last year.

Which beach in Bali is the most relaxing? Maybe for me to read a book on the beach.

For first timer, how many days recommended for simple tour without beach sports? How many days in nearby areas before becomes boring or repetitive? Not ready to go all over the island yet!

Atleast for me need 5 days. That is I am not really into temples. So many temples around.

For me it's Nusa dua. Didnt go lovina before.

Friends recommend Seminyak but how is transport to Kuta?

U mean how long or how to get there?

Is actually very nearby to kuta... However the roads in bali is very small, just one lane and majority one way. So if jam up it might take 30mins for nearby places.

If transport they have a lot of taxis but careful as some don't run on meters. Majority blue bird taxi will use meter but there are some imitations. So better ask before go in.

If u know how to ride bikes then its really advisable to rent bike to travel. Save time and money, imagine even if u jam in a meter taxi ?

But the traffic to me it's chaotic. So really careful while riding on bike.

Dear travellers, I need advice. My tour guide/ drive provide free pickup from airport to kuta town. But on the return from kuta back to airport I have to find transport cause quite early in the morning. 8 AM flight.

What is the best and cost effective way ? I saw in some websites, special hire drivers will charge up to RM50

Take a short taxi ride from the airport tp Tg Benoa many sea sports activities cetr along the beach.. There are lotsa private operators there

U can take public boat or private from sanur jetty to lembongan.

As of may 2013, I took public speedboat which is 150k rupiah per way per pax. It's 30mins.

There are public speedboat and slow boat. Ofcourse slow is cheaper. Other private operators are more expensive.

Just came back from 5 days 4 nights trip to Bali... had a really nice time over there thanks to our great guide, Arief... brought us to visit a lot of nice Pura (temple), beautiful secluded beaches, cheap souvenir places and the most important thing nice food to indulge although 2 of the days were raining... I would highly recommend him... .. Arief truly live up to his reputation and will always try to fulfill your request...

BTW we gained 1 kg during the trip there due to the delicious foods... need to exercise to trim down the fat again....

Tips: Must play parasailing at Nusa Dua. Not worth the price because they only pusing like 1 round but worth the experience.

Just came back from Bali. Stayed at Green Field Bungalow Hotel. It's a nice hotel surrounded by rice field.

Day 1: Arrive Ubud. Walk around the town centre
Day 2: Participated in the Lonbong Cooking Class. It was a nice experience. They will pick you up at the hotel in the morning. They brought us to a tour of the traditional market and back to their house to prepare the dishes. It was fun and entertaining
Day 3: Went for the Rice Field Trekking by Green Field Hotel. They brought us to a village to trek the vast rice field
Day 4: Walk around the town centre, street

Does the airport taxi run late? Any reliable taxi companies like silver bird (or was it blue bird) like in Jakarta?

bluebird is the most reliable. But there are alot of imitation with slightly the same colour and the bird logo design.

But in airport vicinity, you will not find any metered taxi.

you will need to walk out towards the main road outside the "parking tol" booth.

Where do you recommend to stay in Kuta and Ubud?

Anyone can give pointers on how to differentiate between the real bluebird taxis and the imitation bluebirds?

I had to do the same for tegal sari. Actually does help a lot. Lol in the end we didnt really do much packing when we goin back kl.

Anyway, we just tell front desk that we are changing room and ask them move our luggage then we went out and just goto the new room.

I really like ubud very much. It's very peaceful and quiet. Compared to kuta, it's just traffic jam, shopping and clubs.

The color and logo of the bird. It really took me awhile to differentiate.

The blue colours are almost same-same and the bird logo slight differences only.

indeed, the colour is the hardest. Especially for me, during night time. the blue is like same.

i actually took twice bluebird and once non bluebird. I asked non bluebird if meter, he said ok. At first i was quite skeptical about its meter (some said they can tune the meter =.=)

I just read some bad review about the Grand Mega Resort & Spa Bali in Kuta, any recommendation in Kuta?

My proposed itinerary. Any suggestions if it's feasible, especially for Day 3? Also which hotel location will be the best to accommodate this schedule? I guess the ideal will be 1st day in a hotel in Jimbaran, while 2nd and 3rd day at a hotel in Ubud? I am looking for straight 3-days stay at a same hotel if possible. Thanks a lot

Hotel in Bali is cheap. You dun need to choose Tune.

Cant comment about the room. My hotel i stayed is just next to tune.
So location wise is actually quite good.

Walking distance towards Kuta Beach/Hardrock.
Shops are just around.

Just alil walking distance towards jalan legian. But its walkable.

Just trying some alternative and will be staying in others when we go to Ubud

Can't comment good or not. Subjective. My hotel is fave hotel kuta square. It's cheaper than tune. Rm95 compared rm120 tune hotel.

For me I just need a place to sleep and mandi as most of the time we were out. It's clean but don't hve much facility

I think no specific place to makan around tanah lot. If u can travel to ubud. I recommend to try naughty nuri ribs.

I like traditional, old stonework and those multi-roofed temples. What is not too difficult to get to from Seminyak? I want to chill, not get stressed bargaining with drivers on long road trips. Anything similar to Taman Ayun Mengwi but nearer? Is Tirta Empul spring easy to get to?

PS: Still doing my homework. Mengwi is not too far but looks like Petitenget Temple is good enough and nearby. Might save others for next trip. How is the situation for changing ringgit? Lots of information to skim from Amazon site free samples.

This time I was the sole planner and I find that with a little research, you can actually save a lot in Bali. A little research goes a long way to reduce your travel cost. 1. For me is not worth the hassle but depends on amount.

I suggest to use cimb withdrawal from ATM. Better exchange rate compared to change MYR there.

Furthermore u can read scams of money exchange in bali.
If use ATM withdrawal, can prevent carry lots of cash around. If you have cimb, just activate the international withdrawal b4 you go.

The money changer scam is not that serious. Just remember this: do not change at the non-branded changer. There are many businesses like selling t-shirts, souvenir and stuff that also do money exchange. Avoid them cause they are most likely to scam you. Go to those that are from large company that have many chains, where their staff have uniforms. Those are legit. This was informed to me by my local guide and tested by myself on the chain outlet.

Anyone got the latest rate for driver in Bali? Just want to compare since Indonesia just increase their petrol price by 44%

Got quoted 1,150,000 IDR for 3 days travel.
Including airport pickup since i'm arriving at 11pm

so i would say about 450-500k now for a full day tour? hmmm

He said he would charge 1,050,000IDR if it wasnt the petrol hike

Your 3 days is not all full day right? 450-500k just assume you get 2 full days only.

But my last day i only need half day as i will be checking in Ubud.
So i ask him to pick me up from airport at 1st night instead.

im going to bali this friday, so far my driver didnt say anything about rate increase..the rate quoted previously was 350k for full day & 250k for half day..if airport trf only 100k (seminyak/kuta/legian area)

our program:
friday ... pickup at airport 2pm, half day tour ard kuta, seminyak etc
saturday ... full day tour to the Nusa Dua, GWK, Uluwatu etc
sunday ... full day tour to Taman Ayun, Bedugul and Tanah Lot
monday ... half day tour (shopping mostly) & transfer to airport

so total is 1.2m IDR to be shared between 6 of us (200k each person)

anyway, im asking for re-confirmation on the rates to avoid any susprises

400k a bit high. 350k is normal. My also same, and lower as well due to this is my 2nd time with the same driver. haha... very nice guy.

Cant compare the rate anymore.
After petrol hike in Indonesia, price wont be the same again.
Their petrol increased by 44% if i not mistaken.
