1) Activate your data roaming.. (If you didnt activate you might have difficulties to access internet to order go-jek, and you might need to purchase local sim card which cost RM 70++ at airport but you can purchase the same data at local store for RM 10-20.)
2) download go-jek (grab) - should cost around RM 10-15. (If you get a cab at airport it will cut your neck around RM 50++

local informed there also a bus(kura-kura) which it very cheap as per locals comment.. unsure the drop location, you can ask around once at seminyak..

If you have malaysia drivign license for bike.. then you can rent a bike and go around.. (make sure you download the ACT in hardcopy incase the police want to minum kopi.. they will ask for IDR 500-1mil but you can pay off for IDR 50,000.. best not to keep all money in your wallet..

What ACT ya? Is it this agreement - http://www.asean.org/?static_post=agreemen...pur-9-july-1985 ?

The peak season is July to Sept when it is winter in Australia and generally crowded. Weather in Bali WAS supposed to be the best too. However, wasnt the case when i was there 2 years ago - rained so much in mid-July but last year in early August, weather was great. My supir told me that weather in Bali is totally unpredictable these days and Dec/Jan which used to be rain heavy months also not the case.

My wife and I are planning a relaxing babymoon in Bali for 5D4N, we are planning to go Seminyak and Ubud.

Which would you prefer to go first, Ubud 2 nights then seminyak 2 nights or the other way round?

you can go Ubud first..so on first day u can straight away get a driver pick u up from airport all the way to ubud..its quite far..

and then on your last day its easier for you to go airport from seminyak

Just curious on the common reason for foreigners to be stopped during roadblocks. Licensing issue? If it's licensing, then the issue is similar to Thailand's roadblock.

Me and the wife just got back from our 4D/3N Bali trip. thumbup.gif

So just sharing on what i learned from my trip there. We mainly went to the instagrammable places as wife was interested to take pictures this time around.

-----------------------------------

1. Nusa Penida (west)

Since, its the rainy season you have to gamble a bit if you want to go there now. We paid IDR 600k per pax (we bought it through our supir) but if you'd like there are people who is willing to offer you as below as IDR 550k. They have Foreign & Local rates so just try your luck and ask if you can have the local rates instead. You'll probably save 30% - 40% if you manage to get the local rates.

When we went there, the weather was cloudy the whole day as it rained heavily the whole day on the previous day rclxms.gif . We only managed to visit the western side for places like Angel's Billabong, Broken Beach, Kelingking Beach and Crystal Bay. If you do intend to visit Nusa Penida, i sugest you make it a 2 day trip so that you can cover both areas.

2. Tegalalang Rice Terrace

We visited the place at roughly 2PM so it was very hot. Pleace don't forget your umbrellas, hats or sunscreen if you do decide to visit here. To go down, try and find entrances where you don't have to pay "fees", as there are entrances who will charge you. Once you're down there be prepared to pay "tolls" at certain huts. I suggest that you put aside small change so that you can quickly drop and go. If you take a while to choose the money, they might set up the rates for you instead (what happened to us sweat.gif ).

Drink plenty of water as you'll sweat a lot.

3. Bali Swing

If you visit in the morning, 9.30AM+ the lighting won't be great to take pictures but there won't be a lot of people. If you do decide to wait until the afternoon, be prepared to wait as there will most likely be 10+ people queuing ahead of you.We hated waiting so wife and i decided to visit in the morning. We chose areas where the lighting was nice for her instagram pictures, so not all is bad.

--------------------------------------------

Overall, we had no problems with other places so there isn't anything much to talk about. If you do decide to visit Bali, our Supir suggested March-May as it won't be too crowded. Avoid July like the plague as Indonesian schools will have the whole month for holiday. So the place will also be filled with locals during this time. You can visit during the rainy seasons but just be mindful of the weather. During our trip the rain mostly falls during night so we were fine.

For Supir services we used Pak Kliman's service. He has been offering his service for about 10 years now and he mainly does this with his 4 other brothers. But if demand is high, he will outsource to his friends. Rate is quite good at IDR 375k per day. Had no troubles travelling to further distance like Ubud and Mount Agung with this rate, so we were happy we didn't have to pay extra.

He says he can also bring you to dolphin watching at the northern part of Bali or watch sunrise from mt Batur. If you do you would probably have to leave the hotel very early to start trecking up as early as 5AM but that's just not our cup of tea. Sunrise is generally at 6.45AM while sunset is at 6.30PM. So just remember this if you decide to go watch sunset/sunrise.

That's all from me. Hope ya'll have fun in Bali like the wife and i did rclxm9.gif

Hi all

Planning to go to Bali with my wife and kids at the end of May and planning to stay at the Holiday Inn Benoa since it's very kid friendly (e.g. got kids club and kids eat for free).

But other than that, what other things can I do in Bali that is child friendly but not too far from where we are staying? My child is turning 5 in Sept.

Hi guys. Returning to Bali again since my last trip in April 2018. So excited to be able to go back again.

This time, I'll be based in Ubud and will mostly spend time in the villa and in Ubud only. Except for my last day where I'll check out and have nothing to do until my flight at 11:30PM.

Would like to ask some suggestions and recommendations, hope to hear from you all.

1. Grilled/ BBQ Seafood in Ubud?
My last trip I rode a bike to Pasar Kedonganan in Jimbaran. Bought my own seafood and let the warung nearby to grill. I miss the taste of ikan bakar and the different sambals with a plate of hot streaming rice!

Do you think I'll be able to find any Warung or restaurant that serve grilled seafood like those in Jimbaran?

2. One free day, flight at 11:30PM, What to do?
I'll be checking out from my villa in Ubud before noon. And will make my way down with a whole afternoon and evening to spend.

I plan to visit a beach club where I can just chill, swim , makan minum there. I chose this because I can keep my bags there, then shower before going to airport.

Would you do the same? Or you have any other suggestions on how to spend my free day in Bali and make it in time for my midnight flight? I've visited most tourist spots before so I don't think I wanna do that again.

Hope to hear from you guys! Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion, I just got back today at 3:30AM.

Yeah, my initial plan was to check out from Ubud villa and go down to the city before my flight out at 11:30PM. My dilemma was to spend my day at a beach club (so can keep luggage and shower before heading to airport) or hire a supir for the entire day to jalan-jalan etc.

However, yesterday before check out in Ubud, I decided to book a cheap room in some hotel/ inn near the airport (around RM50) so that I can keep my luggage and wash up before my flight. It worked out fine and I used Go-Car to go around. Since weather was damn hot and humid, a clean shower was definitely needed after an entire day outdoors and before my flight.

Anyone who fly out from DPS at night may consider this option, especially if you can't keep your luggage in your hotel/ villa if you are in somewhere far like Ubud and you need to come down in the afternoon.

Going to Bali from 17th - 22nd March. Basically, our tour day is from 18th - 21st. This is my first time there and with limited planning time, I requested the itinerary from Pak Yanto.

Itinerary as provided by Pak Yanto:

Day1:
- Nusa Dua
- Water blow
- Pandawa beach
- Melasti beach
- Sunset at uluwatu
- Jimbaran seafood

Day2:
- Ubud tour
- Tegalalang (padi bukit and coffee plantation)
- Kintamani and Tasik Batur
- Tampak Siring Temple

Day3:
- Bedugul tour, Ulu Danu Beratan
- Buyan Lake, Tamblingan Lake, Wanagiri
- Pasar Candi Kuning
- Tanah Lot

Day4:
- Big Garden Corner
- Sanur, Taman Mertasari
- Legian Beach

Do you guys think this itinerary is workable? I am travelling with 8 years old kid and already told Pak Yanto not to include anything with jungle trekking / heavy activities. As for the temple visit, do I need to be aware of anything do's and dont's?

TQ!
