Finally they updated the info on the SIM card, it was not written micro-SIM back then when it just launched in Malaysia, so when I received mine, I wasn't prepared as I did not have micro SIMc card

You can double check your OS version compare to those OS version that can run it. I remember Whatsapp did not work in the old version of my friend's Z10, once he updated it, it works flawlessly.

I'm not a WeChat user, but if it is a normal messenger type, soon when BBM hits iOS and Android, any other messenger would be dead

If you don't have to urgently use your phone, take your time to update to the latest leaked OS, since it's a lot easier to update it now compared to OS7 or previous version. It's just that it takes time to backup and restore it through BB Link. But sure it is worth it.

Did you sideload instagram and flipboard? How are they working on the Q10?

Yes both are sideloaded using the new easier way with Chrome browser (unlike back in the day sideloading Playbook using DDPB)

Both working fine, infact some article said Flipboard working better in BB10 than in android. As for Instagram, in Q10 small screen, at the editing (effect) picture window, our picture will take almost all the screen and blocking the icons. But the icons are there if you know the position, just press it and it will work like normal.

Ok boys (and girls), for those that are interested to know the battery performance from the .4285 leak that i installed yesterday, well i got a whopping 14 hours on a single charge with 9% left. One of the most impressive yet. Hope it'll get better with the 10.2.

Download BlackBerry Link from any BlackBerry sites (preferably UK one). In fact, Link just got updated today for both OS X and Windows. Just remember to click on the Mac version in your case

for build .4285 i noticed some changes on calendar, from black to white and other settings.

yesterday my q10 was depleted to 0% from 00:00 till 19:15

full charged at 23:45, unplug it, till now 09:05 left 77%

Told ya to be patient... Anyways, downloaded the contacts app that you mentioned Will give it a try tomorrow when traffic is less on my phone. A forummer in crackberry mentioned that a security wipe will get the 4g/3g/2g back on my phone. Failing which i've to reinstall the OS fresh

yea.. but i dont see the point of having either 2g/3g/4g with the current lte/hspa/umts it just the display and we dont often see it also lol
but if you really need that then i suggest a security wipe is a better option compare to reinstall the fresh OS

Bro, H+ is different... This 4G is real 4G signal from Maxis, if no 4G coverage it will back to either H+ or 3G!

H+ is better than 3G, the option is good as it will connect your phone to what is available automatically, if you only set to 4G/3G, then you enter an area with only 2G, you will lose mobile network connection and you might not realize it because maybe the phone is in your pocket or in the bag.

why would u want to see a 3G if your mobile can detect faster connection (H+ and 4G) haha
mine at most only H+ and often at 3G

maybe my simcard or my package does not have 4G plan or my area does not has 4G coverage.

I'm not really updated, but the last time I heard, only Maxis postpaid has 4G support.

Any plans with Maxis above 2GB plan will get you 4G coverage if the area supports it.

The thing is, with this new settings, I may assumed that the network is on HSPA but in actual fact, it's in 3G! My new settings now shows everything but 3G. In fact, I put my settings on today as LTE/UMTS but i'm surprised to see E on my display

UMTS = 2G
HSPA = 3G or H+

I know. But, instead of showing UMTS, it's showing E! Btw, 3G is 3G and H+ is HSPA. So, my point is, with my H now, i don't know if it's 3G or HSPA. At least with the old settings, it defines properly. I could be con now!

For prepaid or postpaid?

it will now show UMTS because UMTS is a Standard, E is the technology, if you are networking person then you should know this like i do. Whereas 3G and HSPA is still considered third generation technology thats why if the settings is HSPA it will show either 3G or H+ because these two is under 3rd gen technology (HSPA is just an improve tech from 3G). If it is showing H in your mobile it is HSPA if it is showing 3G it is 3G. You are not conned, you just misunderstand about this tech.

Even in old setting, if it is showing H your settings still under 3G then how would you determine that, like now you were saying it H but dont know whether it is 3G or HSPA. old settings also give you 4g/3g/2g/gsm no hspa if i still remember correctly.

main point, all my saying in first paragraph should clear your mind now

I'm on SurfMore 50 (postpaid). Average use (mainly work; i've Unifi at home) about 1GB.

They did before, BIS only available for postpaid user back then for RM120 per month

KNS... What a waste of my whole night! After wiping my phone, the result is still the same LTE/UMTS/HSPA/GSM setting. Looks like i just gotta learn to live with it

Worst part was the intouch app lumps first name and last name together so i've names like for example Thomas Chan that became Thomas Chan Chan! Took me awhile to sort it out. No more wiping for me unless it's really necessary!

Err.. It's normal only when you downloaded new/latest OS, heavy multitasking and/or your phone is trying to get 'better' signal e.g. You've got 4G switched on but you're in a non-4G area.

Lols.. haha anw, in this build I notice the scroll smoothness inside mobile hotspot after establish a mobile hotspot connection is real bad. I did not experience this laggy on previous build.

Means .4285's build is a big improvement over the other builds. Personally, my Q10 was really hot before (the same goes for my ex-Z10) and the most is just warm

Is the BB10 platform has something like the Android to keep track of your bandwidth usage? Forgot to ask when i briefly check out the demo unit.

Nope mine is normal. It gets hot only when i first set up contacts and calendar sync, only for a few hours.

Mine gets really warm occasionally.

Usually it is warm when there is heavy process or data transfers, same goes to my other handphones.

May start side loading soon! Haha... Not android apps tho', but the new OS10.2 alarm clock!

i have a problem with my Q10.
been using it for a month or so.

my Q10 will auto restart whenever there is a bump on the phone.
eg: 1. when i drop my phone on my work desk when i am seated.
2. the phone bumps against any object while i am holding it.

this doesnt seem normal.
however, i would wanna double confirm with you guys here, see if any of you experienced this.

I'm afraid it's hardware problem, if you're lucky could be only battery contact problem, but it could be worse, better send for warranty claim. Good luck.

Been using my Q10 for the last 3 days and in all the 3 days it can't last me the day. Usually pull of charger at 7am, and by about 3 or 4pm, battery will be about 30%. Using it for office mails, bbm, whatsapp mostly. Not sure what you would define as heavy, but guess i am a slightly heavy user. 4g on all the time.

Currently using build that came as stock 10.1.0.238. Will it help to change to any of the leaks?

Definitely! I'm on. 4285 leak now and my Q10 does about 12 hours averagely with heavier usage compared to yours

BlackBerry will release OSes to carriers but it's up to the carriers if they want to push it out to their customers. I've been installing leaks religiously and so far my advice is, go for 10.1.4285 as the 10.2 is really buggy.

Head over to crackberry.com go to forums, then look under blackberry 10 hub. Then search for leaked OS. Both the stable builds of .4285 or .2354 are there. Follow the instructions there and you'll be fine

Yes, BlackBerry Link is as such that you can only restore back ups from newer OSes; in other words - not backward compatible

However, there's a way to "cheat"; to rewrite your OS to "older" number. Again, head on down to crackberry.com for more info on how to do that..
