no no, dun misunderstand
you are too kind to dig it up for him

but i reckon most of the questions here can be avoided if the poster read the 1st 3 posts first
or maybe i need to reorganize it properly  hmm.gif

anyone can provide ideas on how to make it better?  notworthy.gif

i believe your comment was directed at me ...

well, first of all, appreciate your hard work pumping all the info on the first page ... but i believe it's info "overload" so people tend to scan thru instead of reading it with a microscopic view as if doing a thesis for PhD ... probably that explains why people tends to ask the same question again and again over this thread ... and that's what keep the discussion lively otherwise the Q&A won't explode to such magnitude, would it? ... flex.gif

if everybody tends to have such high discipline to re-read again and again from the first page onwards, then i doubt seniors here would have such a huge post-count to their belt ... biggrin.gif

anyway, don't get me wrong ... me not here to criticize but to share my opinion ... sometimes we hit new problems / queries as we go along so a new problem to one may be an old problem to others which need certain confirmation hence the repetitive question in this forum ... tongue.gif

cheers ...

My turn now. sad.gif
Got an unauthorised fraud transaction USD 18.25 Karmaloop Inc about 10 minutes ago. Called CS to reverse out and block my card. Luckily, I checked the transaction alert SMS.

I'm new to amex card and haven't received my statement yet. Can I pay maybank 2 cards bill via cimbclicks? Because normal credit card number is 16 digits but amex card only 15 digits. Anyone has tried it before?

I have a question. I'm actually contemplating whether to use my 2 cards when I'm travelling, or to bring more cash. As I know that there may be some fees imposed when you put through transactions with other currencies besides the exchange rate. Can anyone enlighten me with more information about how it works?

I don't wanna go travel thinking I got the item cheaper than m'sia and in the end check my bill to realize it is actually about the same price after the conversion from the bank and also the transaction fee or sth.

No extra charges - just the exchange rate is applied.

Of course it's not at the spot rate (ie. the rate you'd see on XE.com) but a few % out, here's a few of my last foreign currency transactions - I'm lazy to check rates on the day but you can work it out ... I think there's a thread dedicated to this somewhere too.

Amex :

19-Jun-2013 17-Jun-2013 US$11.99 RM38.35
09-Jun-2013 08-Jun-2013 US$4.65 RM14.72
02-May-2013 30-Apr-2013 HK$325.00 RM130.75
25-Apr-2013 24-Apr-2013 GB £562.73 RM2,697.74

Master :

30-Apr-2013 29-Apr-2013 HK$746.00 RM294.41
29-Apr-2013 27-Apr-2013 HK$7,748.00 RM3,063.16

No extra charge but the rate will definitely be higher than money exchanger (how much higher no1 will know unless you call Maybank from overseas when u want to make the transaction lol).. I read somewhere the Maybank 2 Card's MasterCard has 1 of the lowest rates (but still higher than cash exchange) ... You just need to compare the danger of carrying so much cash and that difference in % .... it's not much and for me I'd rather swipe my card

edit: Just remembered .. there was once it happened that the card rate is lower than what I've exchanged with cash ... maybe coz when I exchange cash it was high .. then 1 week after i went overseas the rate dropped .. well this explains how mild the "extra charge" is for the Mastercard ... If you're spending and claiming from company I have a tip for you ...exchange some cash at Mid Valley (famous for low rates) .. get the exchange rate from the airport (get them to print a receipt - which is always highest) .. while in overseas just swipe with your cc ... come home .. compare the cc rate with the exchange rate .. submit whichever is higher lol

hello sifus,

i know this has been posted on the page-1 but i just wanna triple confirm ...

the 5% cashback on weekend spending is calculated for a calendar month, means from 1st till the last day (28th/29th/30th/31st depending on the month) of the month - is this always TRUE?

reason i'm asking because i just got my maybank 2 cards this week ... and yesterday (sat), i've already swiped more than RM600, leaving about RM400 before the RM50 limit is hit ... so sunday is the last day of the calendar month for june 2013 ...

in this case, on monday (1-july), the RM50 limit cap will start all over again from zero?

cheers ...

This info is already on the first page.
Yes, Maybank2Card's weekend cash rebate is based on calendar month (i.e. 1st to the last day of the month).
However, you will need to take extra precautions when it comes to weekends that fall on the last 2 days or last day of the month. If the merchant doesn't post your transactions immediately (or within the same month), your cash rebate will be counted in next month's cash rebate.

Transactions date determines the eligibility of cash rebate.
Posting date is important if the weekends fall on last day or last 2 days of the month.

ronnie has put up a nice example case and it is on second post, please read and don't ask this kind of repeated questions in the future.

noted with thanx ... as i've mentioned before i even dare to start asking - i already read the first post and i posted just to triple confirm ...

why i've a feeling that this forum is so harsh on newcomers ... seems people who like to ask question here have to get ready to be punished with "unwelcome response" if they missed out on first page's Holy Grail's juice ... perhaps moderator should just delete all posts that seems repetitive question? that would make some seniors here happy, i suppose ... shakehead.gif

cheers ...
