hello sifus,

my car's insurance & roadtax is due end of this month ... i've not check with honda if they accept AMEX but if they do, will charging it via Maybank AMEX entitles me to 5% cashback AND 2x points (since it's under insurance category)?

since my OCBC Titanium only entitles me 1% cashback (falls under other category), i'm just wondering if i should start applying foe Maybank AMEX for this purpose (and also to "help" OCBC's RM50 cap, in case on certain months my spending exceeds the limit) ...

again, can i confirm that besides government and insurance, any spending using Maybank AMEX on Sat & Sun entitles us to 5% cashback AND 5x points, guaranteed?

cheers ...

noted with thanx ronnie ... called honda road tax renewal dept - unfortunately they do not accept AMEX cry.gif

their service / repair center also does not accept AMEX, otherwise i can earn 5% cashback since my car need a major repair rclxub.gif

guess the max i can earn is still 1% via OCBC, cap at RM50 vmad.gif

well, the 1-hr approval still needs you to prepare the docs and travel to KLCC ... but me sitting at home without stepping out, so i consider it the easiest and fastest so far, without have to worry about the docs ... tongue.gif

ok ... just received my credit cards this morning from pos laju ... but it came with maybank amex + maybank visa ... shouldn't the combo = amex + master instead? ... any sifus care to advice ???

not that i care much because my target is just the amex while the other card would be put in cold storage ... but just curious as to he reason behing this ...

btw, the credit limit is the lowest amongst all my credit cards (about 3 times lower than my other cards' limit) ... perhaps i didn't supply any docs (epf, income slips etc) so depending on my savings account, they could end up with such low limit ...

but considering that i'm not a heavy spender and the need to spread the spending with OCBC titanium and StandChart, the 5-figure limit is still within comfortable zone ... also to prevent from excessive potential frauds that are synonym with maybank amex ...

also, can i transfer my current 0% installments (which would ends mar 2014) from citibank credit card to this maybank amex ???

cheers ...

You have the option to choose between Visa or Mastercard. Did you tell them you want Mastercard during application?

yes, i did mention it in the email correspondence with the maybank representative ... i've emailed her about this matter - awaiting her response, if she cares to reply ... cry.gif

To transfer, you need to BALANCE TRANSFER from Citibank to Maybank.
*
correct me if i'm wrong ronnie, my understanding of balance transfer is the total amount you owe as of current date, meaning you're already owning RM20,000 (for example) and would like to do balance transfer to another bank to save the interest for a specific months (example 6 months) ...

but for 0% installment plans, my total amount owed to the bank is not necessary subject to interest because my outstanding installments are not due yet ... if i can pay all the installments on time, then there won't be any interest rates ...

so, considering my installments plan stretch till next year march, do i still call it "Balance Transfer" in the first place? if not, can i transfer my installment plan with citibank to maybank amex, and in the process gain points (i'm sure can't get 5% rebate laugh.gif ) from this?

cheers ...

hello sifus,

i was registering all the possible payees under the maybank2u's bill payment in order to maximize 5% cashback + 5x points (weekend) on my newly acquired maybank amex ...

found out the drop-down menu to choose amex as payment method, it's only available for Telekom, TNB & DBKL (cukai taksiran) ...

for IWK, Astro, Great Eastern Life, there's no option to choose amex as payment method ... i've yet to try Maxis as it keep telling me service is not available ...

so, this means those payees (that does not show in the drop-down menu) do not accept AMEX (for manual payment and not auto) via maybank2U at all?

if yes, then i have to juggle between maybank amex and ocbc to enjoy the 5% cashback - which could be quite confusing during bill payments ... sad.gif

cheers ...

Your understanding of BT is correct.

BUT
Your 0% installment is under Citibank.... which is a different bank entity from Maybank.
It will NEVER transfer 0% Installment from different banks.... if within the same bank you can for Maybank.

You have either continue paying the installment for Citibank or fully paid the amount to Citibank.
Only with BT, we can bring "debt" from one bank to the other bank
*
precisely what i suspect ... don't think citibank will allow me to do that without any penalty ... i was asking to see if anyone here has done such thing before, because i wanna terminate my citibank and at the same time to consolidate under maybank, not to mention hoping to get points if such 0% installments transfer can be done from citibank to maybank amex biggrin.gif

yes, not all accept AMEX, IINM TNB was just added few month ago. Previously cant

For Maxis, i heard some able do payment via walk in to SC during weekend.

Is up to you planning how to optimize the payment.

For me 1st priority is AMEX due to 5% + 5XTP
then only OCBC  smile.gif
*
noted with thanx ... walk-in to perform payment is not cost-effective ...

hopefully maybank amex can lower their fees to compete with master/visa ... then it would be wonderful as consumers would have to worry about 1 account only to pay monthly utility bills, and the service providers would gladly accept amex flex.gif ...

cheers ...

noted with thanx fruitie ... took me some time to realize that i need to register another new login with maxis online ...

maxis new online sucks - after registered my amex info for "pay by phone", it doesn't tell me how to get 6-digit code to perform payment using pay-by-phone method ... called maxis customer service only to be told that i need to wait for the pin code from maxis ... mad.gif

but the amex registration process at maxis doesn't tell me so, and it even allows me to re-enter the same amex info again and again without ability to tell me that i already have the same record (amex info) in their database ... hope they will eventually send me the pin code cry.gif

no no, dun misunderstand
you are too kind to dig it up for him

but i reckon most of the questions here can be avoided if the poster read the 1st 3 posts first
or maybe i need to reorganize it properly  hmm.gif

anyone can provide ideas on how to make it better?  notworthy.gif

i believe your comment was directed at me ...

well, first of all, appreciate your hard work pumping all the info on the first page ... but i believe it's info "overload" so people tend to scan thru instead of reading it with a microscopic view as if doing a thesis for PhD ... probably that explains why people tends to ask the same question again and again over this thread ... and that's what keep the discussion lively otherwise the Q&A won't explode to such magnitude, would it? ... flex.gif

if everybody tends to have such high discipline to re-read again and again from the first page onwards, then i doubt seniors here would have such a huge post-count to their belt ... biggrin.gif

anyway, don't get me wrong ... me not here to criticize but to share my opinion ... sometimes we hit new problems / queries as we go along so a new problem to one may be an old problem to others which need certain confirmation hence the repetitive question in this forum ... tongue.gif

cheers ...

hello sifus,

i know this has been posted on the page-1 but i just wanna triple confirm ...

the 5% cashback on weekend spending is calculated for a calendar month, means from 1st till the last day (28th/29th/30th/31st depending on the month) of the month - is this always TRUE?

reason i'm asking because i just got my maybank 2 cards this week ... and yesterday (sat), i've already swiped more than RM600, leaving about RM400 before the RM50 limit is hit ... so sunday is the last day of the calendar month for june 2013 ...

in this case, on monday (1-july), the RM50 limit cap will start all over again from zero?

cheers ...

This info is already on the first page.
Yes, Maybank2Card's weekend cash rebate is based on calendar month (i.e. 1st to the last day of the month).
However, you will need to take extra precautions when it comes to weekends that fall on the last 2 days or last day of the month. If the merchant doesn't post your transactions immediately (or within the same month), your cash rebate will be counted in next month's cash rebate.

Transactions date determines the eligibility of cash rebate.
Posting date is important if the weekends fall on last day or last 2 days of the month.

ronnie has put up a nice example case and it is on second post, please read and don't ask this kind of repeated questions in the future.
*
noted with thanx ... as i've mentioned before i even dare to start asking - i already read the first post and i posted just to triple confirm ...

why i've a feeling that this forum is so harsh on newcomers ... seems people who like to ask question here have to get ready to be punished with "unwelcome response" if they missed out on first page's Holy Grail's juice ... perhaps moderator should just delete all posts that seems repetitive question? that would make some seniors here happy, i suppose ... shakehead.gif

cheers ...

really that bad? mine one - even after i received my TAG on my phone, the pop-up window for TAG sent message still loading ... could be due to carnival sales that generate huge processing in their servers (just kidding) ... biggrin.gif

i've made some transactions on sat (29-june) and sun (30-june), both last days of the month of june 2013 ... at first i couldn't see ALL the transactions viewing from maybank2u portal under "transaction history" even on 1-july ...

only today (2-july), i can see all of them and fortunately all of their "posting date" did not spill into july, otherwise it would be included into july weekend rebate calculation, if i read the page#1 correctly ...

so, i'm just wondering if it would be of any benefits to forumners to identify which merchants actually did their posting date in such manner (such as transaction date on 29th/30th but posting date on 1st/2nd or even later than that) ...

not sure if those merchants deliberately did their posting 2 days or more for certain reasons but it would surely affect AMEX spenders, especially if the amount is huge ... just my opinion ... ignore this if it would not make any difference ...

cheers ...

It happened to me once long time ago, no data is collected here yet, but now thanks to the effort of members here and ronnie, the table at 1st page is a good guide. I try to avoid charging big amount to amex during this special weekends, but if no choice, then it is still okay too. On the merchant side, i think it is random (see they are free or not). Once, my transaction at a shell station was posted 1 week later.
*
hmm, since it's random and not static info, i suppose it won't do any good to identify them ... thought there's a certain pattern on such merchants ...

what merchant you swipe the card? from what i found in this thread, Dell & Agoda didnt process their CC payment on weekend, so you will never got 5% cashback if use on this 2 website..
*
well, from my sat & sun transactions, found that Adonis's posting date is 1 day later - in this case, swipe on sat with posting date on sunday ...

so, supposing if i swipe on sunday instead, perhaps the mentioned merchant will process it the next day, which is monday (1-july), hence may affect the cashback into the following month, july ... anyway, i'm not sure but just guessing based on my transaction record ...

i've mailed to Amex customer service & called Maybank - they assured me as long as transactions are made on weekend (sat or sun), you're entitled to 5% cashback, regardless of the posting date ...

so, i'm curious with the case study of Dell & Agoda above, since the transaction is done on weekend, by right should get 5% cashback regardless ... but then such online transaction may be different rclxub.gif

my Petron transaction always posted on the next day
hence pumping petrol at Petron last Sunday (30/06) means I will get the rebate calculated in July
*
really? i haven't try pumping petrol using amex because still using SCB due to its 15% cashback ... will keep that in mind ... flex.gif

btw, does all other petrol stations (besides petron) also get processed the next day, if you're aware?
