Reduced land acquisitions from 1012 to 690 lots means the alignment are shifted more along the highways or public spaces such as parks.
Another very unlikely reason is that they moved elevated rail to underground.
BTW anyone has the update of the alignments and stations?

Just realized there's a provisional stn called Salak Jaya in between Salak Selatan and Kuchai.

Also the previously "proposed" re-route out of Universiti and UM macam tak jadi....

KUALA LUMPUR (July 18): New MRT3 Circle Line construction tenders may begin by mid-2026, said MBSB Research, after MRT Corp’s fourth and final tender validity extension lapsed in March 2024.

The re-tender is anticipated due to changes in project alignment and station placements, following a 32% reduction in land plots required for acquisition to begin for MRT3 from 1,012 to 690 lots.

“Construction of MRT3 may begin in CY27 (calendar year 2027), which will keep contractors busy possibly up to 2033,” MBSB said, adding that contract awards are expected towards the end of the land acquisition process between end-2026 and mid-2027.

UM station can ease the congestion along jalan university. Staff and student can use the MRT. Leaving the road for critical service aka ambulance and patients coming for appointment. Some secondary students can take the MRT as well. Such as CHS and SAS.

looking at mrt3 stations and their locations now, in retrospective mrt1 station locations werent' that bad after all.

i dont know why many interchange stations in same location need walk so far just to reach to different line. Is it because of cost reasons that they can't build so near each other?

More of people protest .. which also hiking up compensation cost and realignment

Easy answer will be. Developer didn't pay or leverage enough. See who owns the majority of undeveloped land near Asia Jaya maybe we might get an idea.

But having circle line that didn't cover any business hubs, I really don't know the true value of this line. It's not connected to KLCC, TRX, and now they want to skip Bangsar south as well. If they really skip all business hubs, this line is dead on arrival.

Places like Bangsar south, bangsar, mont Kiara, KLGCC, TRX. Developers don't really care if your line goes there. Those places is self sufficient, hence lansi towards MRTcorp lor. That's my speculation, this is not /k.

You dont understand the concept of circle line

This circle line is to merge all the other existing lines

Bangsar South and Bangsar already LRT
TRX already have MRT 1 and 2
Mont Kiara will have the Segambut station further walk but if you care to read the news residents protest is one of the main reason

Guys, why are they keeping the "final" alignment a secret, given that it's been approved and land acquisitions have commenced? Isn't this unfair - cronies and insiders will benefit with the informational asymmetry at the expense of the average Malaysian citizen.

Does the KLGCC mall have a [/B]covered walkway[/B] so that patrons can walk from/to the upcoming MRT stns (like 1U or IOI Damansara Mall)?
