Wanted to ask sifu here, why the RJ45 port in 5470 so small? Will it fit the normal cable or need to remove the cover?

Err that port can fit. Almost every ultrabook have port that can be retracted to fit the RJ45.

because that's one of the way to fit in the RJ45 into a slim form factor smile.gif
Yes, normal LAN cable can fit in, don't worry. You need need to flip the "small plastic (it is there to protect the port)" on the port downward to make the port back to normal size.
That "small plastic" is kind of fragile, be gentle smile.gif

So I decided to bite the bullet and get a Dell Inspiron 11 3000. Not sure if it will be a better choice over 5470. Good thing I can always sell it to another friend who is looking for such laptop.

Too bad it will arrive sometime middle of November.

I have just received my Vostro 5470 ordered directly from Dell website. I switched it on at first, did the initial setups, checked a bit and then turned it off. I turned it on after 10-15 mins, it wont boot. A blank screen appears with a continuous beep sound. Anyone any idea whats happening? sad.gif I tried turning it off and on its still the same. sad.gif Please someone reply!

Just call Dell support already smile.gif Either they will send a technician to fix it for your, or if it's bad get replacement unit or refund.
Just insufficient data for anyone to diagnose / guess what went wrong.

Yeah they offered me a refund, unit replacement or lcd replacement. I had no other option than the lcd replacement since I will be out of Malaysia after three weeks and unit replacement would take 20days++.

This is really frustrating. The whole new laptop feeling has been ruined. Probably got a really bad unit. sad.gif

Thanks nexus2238! I hope it is not a major issue.
@azerak, yes the one i bought is not a touchscreen. Both touchscreen/non-touchscreen are available. I think windows 7 on 5470 is not available as default as far as i know (correct me if i am wrong).
