QUOTE(DellMalaysia @ Oct 8 2013, 10:19 PM) nvm buddy, as long as "5460" we can smile when sitting side by side with Mac Air user. how come 5460 performance cannot beat macbook air?even though the performance cannot beat Mac Air, but to be able to match 75% of Mac Air design considered as power already asking about my model more than his Mac Air. mac is running on i5 (Intel HD5000) vs 5460 is running on i5 (Nvidia630M) Should the 5460 better performance compared to macbook air? |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Oct 10 2013, 11:36 AM) Quite a few owners posted they have increase RAM to 8GB. what is the different between DDR3 vs DDR3L?As mentioned, there is only 1 RAM slot. So you need to buy 8GB stick and replace the 4GB stick. 5470, better stay with DDR3L (~ RM250). 5460, some owners said could use DDR3 (~ RM200). Quite easy to remove the bottom panel (access to almost all components). Good idea to learn so that you could remove dust from fan / heat sink yourself in the future. i saw some specs like 1.35v & 1.5v how to differentiate? Im worry i bought the wrong item CRUCIAL DDR3L 1600 8G soDIMM 1.35V (NOTEBOOK) Spec: DDR3 1600MHz/ 8GB piece Sodimm 204pin LOCAL LIFETIME WARRANTY. QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Oct 11 2013, 03:47 PM) 5470 don't have FreeDOS spec. TechHypermart is offering free dos versionAnd for any new laptop models that come FreeDOS, don't pitch your hope on drivers for WinXP, count your lucky star if brands released drivers for W7 (if at all) http://www.techhypermart.com/dell-vostro-5...p-notebook.html |

QUOTE(bojan @ Oct 17 2013, 12:20 PM) those wondering how to reformat and reinstall windows for dell laptops... even if they dont come with recovery DVD... look inside the laptop for a file named "factory.wim" good info, quote for future usethis is your factory setting original windows image.. all the serial info built inside already apparently such that when you reinstall this .wim image.. you do not need to re-enter the windos serial number.. so find this factory.wim and make a backup copy somewhere... in your backup external HDD or your DVD or your thumbdrive... whenever you need to reformat.. use this image again... how to restore factory.wim... that's a whole different story.. it could be tricky.. just be sure that the image is x86 or x64.. and use the image restrore software corresponding to it.. |

I'd tested my 5470, the WIFI seems lousy when pair with unifi original router.
Connection always lost when my other device remains connected. Sometimes the WIFI status show connected but unable to load internet website. |

QUOTE(shawnme @ Oct 24 2013, 10:18 AM) Hi, I have the same problem, but I dont think it's due to the 5270, i have the same problem with my ipad, iphone, PC, other laptops and android phones as well. No doubt TM unifi give us shitty router... When I'm just sit next to the router, the connection seems fine, never disconnected even once, but once I went inside room, the connection seems getting weaker & disconnected. My room distance to router is less than 10 meter & only 1 wall in between. I also noticed the signal bar shown is not accurate, it shows 3-4 bar, but actually the signal is poor when i click to view the details.I read somewhere else that the Unifi router is famous for this, but i never had any problems until recently, but my router is about 3 yrs old now. I have had no problem connecting to other routers though. Signal strength is fine too. Even better than my phone. BTW, I noticed 5470 have 2 graphic cards. 1st is built in Intel HD & another is Nvidia GT740M, do we need to select which to use or both will run at same time automatically? QUOTE(shawnme @ Oct 25 2013, 11:04 AM) I just noticed .. My bluetooth is working fine as im using bluetooth mouse from dell also, it never got disconnected.1. Dell's auto detect thing for the drivers etc...DOES NOT WORK !!..at least for me. So I have to search one at a time..to look for updates.. DAMN !! 2. The bluetooth on the Vostro 5470, ain't working. It gets connected, the disconnects 3. After updating to Windows 8.1, the obsolete digitalPersona fingerprint thing is pretty much useless with IE 11. 4. McAffee is driving me crazy..slowing everything down by half. Agree on the McAffee, it slows down everything & it does not have the option disable the auto startup in msconfig. |

After tested my Vostro 5470 for almost a week, I can conclude that the wifi is sucks.
I had my iPhone, iPad & another Lenovo laptop together next with the vostro 5470, all device was connected to my wifi where the Vostro unable to detect the wifi. The distance between my Unifi router & all the devices is less than 10m (distance by a wall). I don't think is the router problem because all other devices was connected except my 5470. Might need to call Dell & get them to resolve this issue for me... |
