normally Inspiron will be bulky in design, comes with low or mid range of spec.
Vostro focus more on mid range performance since it aim for business people. vostro tend to ignore their design since business people wont look into design anyway.

but i wonder why this model Vostro 5460 is different case. It seems like Dell focus more on the design, slim, light and portability but they ignore the performance of the laptop. Lots of complain on its WIFI telling that it only cover short range and the signal detection is very weak.
*
yes, the wifi issue is bugged every1

i think they have learn a lesson not to design a spec that have short range of wifi coverage

just giv them a call complaint and they will go to your house change the current intel wifi adapter to realtek wifi adapter which is much much better and coverage also widen (as tested by me)

Yup, the 5470 has more or less the same look and feel as the 5460.
Except Haswell CPU, with Intel HD4400, (if applicable) Nvidia GT740M.

Slightly more expensive compared to 5460, and no Linux/FreeDOS spec.

since..when..did..they..launch..this?
i've been waiting for long but didn't see this thing coming drool.gif

and, they replaced the problematic wifi card
"Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230, 802.11b/g/n + BT4.0"
with
"Intel® Centrino® Wireless-AC 7260 + Bluetooth 4.0"

anyone knows how's the difference for these two?

Inspiron 11 is here in Malaysia.
The rest, we may not get the full range.

hello, joining in smile.gif

was planning to buy the 5460 @ RM2199 but now looking at the 5470 Touch @ RM2249.

reading up the thread, looks like the 5470 could be a better buy due to better wifi and definitely touch screen capability. afterall just RM50 bucks difference. never had a touch screen laptop before (i currently own an inspiron 14R which is dying on me)... any feedback on having a touch screen? don't think the shops are carrying any demo units yet?

The 5460 sept offer looks okay too, with free optical drive (ends 26 Sept). So I guess i have to make up my mind quick! smile.gif does the SSD really make a difference? am only using the laptop to do casual surfing and play videos.

bear in mind:
1. 5470 core i5 doesn't come with touchscreen
2. 5470 core i3 is the only option for touchscreen
3. SSD is more than twice faster compared to HD.

you're right. was reviewing the specs too fast online. touchscreen is the one with i3 @ RM2149.

point 3 is challenging. so its back to touch screen vs faster processing.. rclxub.gif
but then again, its 4th generation intel, compared to 3rd gen for the 5460. pening-nya..
