i also have been looking for it since last month.
the spec and the design is so tempting.
but there is no review from cnet and techarena.
i wonder if the hdd can be swap with SSD?

QUOTE(jason_tee @ May 10 2013, 05:38 PM) Just got mine today itself, ordered from Dell, took around 1 week plus to deliver to me which is not really an issue. yours is with mSata SSD?Hasn't really start using it yet, just boot up to configure and play around with it less than 30 minutes so I can't really provide any review to it. Overall, it feels good, with the aluminium design, it feel cold in aircond room, wonder will it become hot if it is not...Very thin, very light weight. Looks like it is a finger print magnet due to the design so for those who like their laptop to look nice all the time might need to wipe it every time when using it how long it takes to boot up from cold? |

QUOTE(pastacarbonara @ May 13 2013, 10:34 PM) I ordered mine about a week ago. Dell just email me today saying that it should arrive latest by 17th which is this Friday. so this laptop is really upgradable for SSD is it?Ordered the Red cover with Ubuntu. Don't really fancy Windows 8 and I have an original W7P on hand. Will probably get a 120GB SSD and 8GB RAM next week and do some self-upgrade. i am also planning to save bucks and keep the cost minimum so that i can upgrade it later win8 seems like not mature enough for daily usage how long is the delivery? 2 weeks? which set u bought? core i5? |

QUOTE(pastacarbonara @ May 14 2013, 07:47 AM) Yup, the i5 as it has the Ubuntu OS option (which I don't really need). yeah, normally dell delivery takes no more than 5 days.I was told by a forumer that it is able to take SSD. I'm still holding the purchase until I get the ultrabook and have a look at the standard hard drive. I ordered and paid on the 7th. Dell emailed me yesterday that it should arrive latest on 17th. Quite long if you ask me. i wonder if this dell vostro is considered as ultrabook or not |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ May 14 2013, 09:38 AM) out of 4 model, only 1 is ultrabook rite?so what if we purchase the cheapo unit and swap with SSD, can it consider as ultrabook? since the thickness is only 18mm, less than one inch and installing SSD can increase fast boot |

QUOTE(xyuenx @ May 22 2013, 12:31 PM) I want to get the Ubuntu model because I don't like win8 and feel I need a long time to get used to it, which I don't have time for as I need to do a lot of important assignments. Don't want to fork out extra for an OS that I dislike. same goes to me.i dont like Window 8 but the boot up time is faster compared to Win7. |

if using ULV, u get better battery lifetime
if using non-ULV processor, will u get better performance? if i take the non-ULV processor, with windows 8, upgrade to 8GB ram, and change from HDD to SSD. is it the better option? or just take the ULV processor with mSATA with 8GB ram? |

QUOTE(xyuenx @ May 22 2013, 07:52 PM) But Inspiron 14 is much much heavier. 2kg if not wrong. True. I guess the most popular reason people buying this model is for its slimness and lightness. I wont consider anything thicker than 20mm or heavier than 1.8kg QUOTE(aristotletan @ May 22 2013, 08:00 PM) Battery is one of the concern but my priority is on the fast boot and lightweight Thanks for your info on the battery life |

QUOTE(scarxxx @ May 22 2013, 09:12 PM) Just finished my testing on the battery life. WowMachine Spec: Stated in my signature OS: Stated in my signature Settings: - 100% brightness - no screensaver - power management turned off - WIFI connected 1. Turned on my laptop without any power from the adapter. 2. WIFI connected automatically. 3. Leave it as it is on my desk. Result: It can last approximately 3.5 hours (left 5%) Other Findings:- The heat is very minimal. Thanks for the feedback So i think its safe to assume it can sustain about 2 hours if surfing and do a heavy task rite? |

QUOTE(mfitri77 @ May 31 2013, 12:52 AM) I did have a look at the 5460 over the weekend. However, I am not convinced that it is the best option if you are looking at it spec wise. In what aspect u feel that its not the best option?is it the spec wise only or price wise? in your point of view, is there any other better option? HP Envy? Asus vivobook? |
