some question for MBP user, i plan to buy 1.. i'm really interested in the 17" one, and i'm a hardcore gamer as well.. just want to ask.. when we use bootcamp to booting up win XP, do we need to manually install the driver say the graphic card driver?

Apple's Boot Camp will make a driver installation CD for you.
QUOTE The Boot Camp burns a CD with the drivers Windows needs to recognize Mac-specific hardware. It is very important to do this before starting the Windows installation. Read up:http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/ http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/apple_boot_camp.asp |

For the gfx driver you can always use ATI Catalyst for best performance. Also, use ATItool to clock up your gfx card's speed because MBPs come with x1600's with lower than factory default clockspeed. (Not sure if this is still the case for c2d MBPs).

I've read somewhere that they even underclock your c2d intel processor to reduce heat.

QUOTE(KTay @ Nov 13 2006, 08:38 PM) uhmm... Most laptops will have their processor clockspeeds brought down from time to time to save battery power... (If you're running in battery mode) It reduces heat too but I don't think that's the main reason the clockspeed is brought down... |
