lokgotz and vendetta...
I ran a Get Info yesterday to check out the memory that's taken up by Mac OS X.... 5GB is spent on system files, 7GB is used for application files and a humongous 9-10GB is used for library files!!!
Damn... i didn't know that Mac OS X is soooo huge!

kbandito... why do u wanna buy a MB when u wanna run Vista OS ?? Might as well just get a Dell or a Fujitsu laptop...

all this posts of problems with macbooks are making me worried. But so far, my macbook has been performing problem free.
I had some issues installing Win XP with Boot Camp and i scrapped the whole idea, so it's running fine now. smile.gif
Hope u guys get your individual problems sorted out. I do have to say that the Macbook does feel alittle fragile compared to normal heavy duty usage Dells biggrin.gif
E.g. When i open the MacBook each time, i start wondering if i'll break the iSight camera one day in the near future... hahahaha.... it's located exactly where i'll apply the most pressure to open the macbook since the magnetic locks on both sides are rather strong...

hairol... i've also just installed the latest SMC firmware for the macbook. The fan sounds the same.
Anyways... just wondering... Can you delete the firmware update file once you have already installed the firmware? Not too sure about this lah, coz the update file is still located in the Utilities folder...

hey guys... just wanted to let you know that i've finally managed to successfully install WinXP in my Macbook. Downloaded the latest BootCamp 1.1 beta and this time around, the installation process went smoothly, partitioning was down rather fast, and the installation of WinXP didn't take more than 30 mins. The Mac drivers CD was also successfully installed without any fuss. I'm a real happy bunny now smile.gif

just to let you guys know (if u didn't know already) that MacBook SMC Firmware update 1.1 is available for installation.
It's supposed to prevent RSD for those suffering from it (I'm not) but reading the Apple discussions, it also raises the volume of the MacBook - something that i haven't detected yet. For more info:

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/mac...reupdate11.html

I have already installed it into my MacBook smile.gif

n20nine... i just installed it in my macbook. Contrary to what's being discussed on the apple discussion forum, my macbook is working just fine...
No problems with iSight, Front Row etc.
Hopefully, this firmware will do more good than harm to my beloved macbook smile.gif

Hairol.. i installed the iStat nano widget on my macbook's dashboard and it looks super cool... but the temperature and fan speed sections are blank.

Anyone know why's this happening?

my power adaptor is connected 24/7 and battery is always fully charged. So far, no problems... disconnect the power adaptor and the battery shows 3 hours plus charge remaining....
I think it's just a myth...

i don't know how true this rumour could be... It would mean a so-called downgrade for the MBP... and how would the pricing be in relation to the MB? The product line-up would be rather cluttered and there would be risks of cannibalization between product lines...
Knowing Apple, i don't think they would go down this path. Just my 2 cents worth...smile.gif

i had to install Windows twice in bootcamp before it finally worked. Patience is a virtue here... but like what civic said, make sure you have WinXP Service Pack 2 and the latest bootcamp. The Mac driver CD is also a must to do... Good luck!
