Haha.. No way, love my Macbook. I've been throwing out things from my bag to lighten it.
One thing about fitting accesories into my bag is the 3 prong plug head. When I need to bring it along, it's a waste of space due to the prongs, if only there were more support for the 2 flat pin plug..

QUOTE(civic98 @ Oct 12 2006, 11:38 PM) I just realised how heavy the Macbook is. Was carrying it around for few hours and it was really heavy for its size. Any particular reason? macbook come with 13" inch screen rite?? then i think u nvr carried a laptop with 15" inch screen, those are even heavier

yea, vaios are extremely light with much better specs, of course you are paying much more...there are lappies with similar size which are slightly lighter...

Spec to spec, the Macbook's weight on paper is similar to some 15 inch notebooks. Haha.. Of course on the 15 inch its just the starting weight, how much can you add on with upgrades anyway?

it is heavier than the 12" powerbook i had, probably due to its 1.3" screen size difference...but i personally do not like the sharp palm rest below the keypad. and the keyboard, i don't like it, not for me, thats why i have to consider this machine out! decided after playing with it for a long time...shall wait for mbp core 2 duo...only if i can get it at discounted rate in the US...budget is around RM 6.5K.

In the end, you buy what best fits your needs. If you want a Mac then get a Mac. If you're in love with the form factor of the Vaios: then pay the premium. Your shoulders will thank you as you lug the lighter laptop around airports.
I've found (after 3 years of trying VERY hard to love the WinXP) that I prefer OSX.
I'd very much like to buy a lightweight 13in PowerBook (I prefer that name to MacBook). When it finally does show up that is.

I used Mac OS for sometime, I really do love it, but it too has it's own short-comings. Personally, I feel that Windows is good enough for me as I can do all the stuff I want there. I wanted to get the MacBook very badly as I thought I could have the best of both worlds. I've been to my local Apple Centre numerous times to try out the black MacBook. I am not too happy with the sharp edge of the palm rest and the keyboard is not for me. I need to get a new laptop soon, but I can wait till next year. My budget is RM 6.5K. Either I get a souped up Dell XPS M1210 or a Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro with education discount in US or Australia.

I've since "upgraded" to the SZ18. The S and SZ Vaios suit my use for a laptop very well. So much so that I've passed the 15" Alu PowerBook to my wife. I'd wait for the new enclosure of the MacBookPro to surface before I buy. I'm guessing it will be in January. Hopefully earlier though. The present Aluminum case design was launched in MacWorld Paris in September 2003. I remember this well as I was at the time travelling in the US between Las Vegas and New Jersey. While in New Jersey I visited the AppleStore in Newark and saw the Aluminum PowerBook on sale. I had not heard/read of it as it was freshly launched a day earlier in Paris. Point is, it's been THREE YEARS. In computer life-span that's like an eternity. The replacement has got to come out very soon.
