hi guys. im currently in the process of surveying for my first car. currently its a choice between persona and preve. but im leaning more towards preve, well because its newer and i kinda like the looks of it and its features. for persona it would be brand new and for preve second hand.

my question to all the sifus here who have been driving the car for quite sometime is would you recomend it?

proton has a 5 year warranty, for second hand would also be covered right? so in terms of fuel consumption and reliability what do you guys think? icon_question.gif

been driving my dads proton all these years so im kinda familiar with the basic problems the older models had. been reading through the forum and seen some issues, mostly minor.. but still making me think twice about it.. for someone who just wants to pay his ansuran bulanan and service charge, should i go for it? and what are the things that i should look out for when looking at the car like chasis number and stuff..
thanks in advance thumbup.gif

PErsona / preve ?

its depend on your budget , monthly installment is difference ,
with 10% down payment x Loan 9 year :

PErsona : Rm533
Preve executive : RM657
Preve premium :Rm761

for warranty ,if a second hand car owner have full service record on proton sc previously , then the warranty will maintain
preve is a good car , no much major problem on it . dont worry bro rclxms.gif
if you are looking / wanna to have a test drive before decide , welcome to pm / contact me ,

thinking of getting one
to replace my old 2004 kia rio >.<
but seems IAFM+ manual to be abit under power. true? i need more pickup than top cuz i live in mountain area lol (sort of)
was looking at the Satria Neo R3 S2000 scheme, saga FLX and Exora.
preve catches the eye, yet the performance. hmmmm
did test drive one before. IAFM+ manual.. i liked the feel, the comfort. but throttle response seems down abit. pickup also so - so
need some enlightenment XD

Along the way, maybe cost went up, local vendor cannot do what is required in large numbers? trying to keep the selling price below RM75,000 maybe a factor...? crony companies?..many things....
Where is mat79??? Maybe he can share some light on this, i think QC from Proton is c**p, no audit on parts supplied by vendor.
From my point of view, Potong still have lots to improve in terms of service quality, car quality...maybe protectionist policy is preventing Potong to UBAH...haha...

So it's either

A) New Persona
B) 2nd Preve

I take it that it seems like budget is truly ur concern. Preve got a lot still issues that is not yet settle by Potong and mind u those 2nd hand Preve out there might be 'there' due to these problems in the first place.

Go for Preve if:

1) U have time to come back & forth to the SC to rectify small problems or
2) U can stand these minor2 flaws2 until u service ur car then only complaint of it.

Manual Preve is already known for disappointing stick shifters due to it's clucth settings if not mistaken. IMHO if your a pure stick shifters, I believe many who already bought Manual Preve will not recommend u so.

Don't exactly know how the latest batch of these Manual Exec Preve fare as it has been a while since I saw ppl come in here annoucing they have bought the Manual one bro

Hi, My name is khairi, currently still using my 2004 p2 kenari but already upgrade to daihatsu 1.3 turbo engine. Since early of this month i started to study about preve due to my family are getting bigger & i feel its time for me to move to sedan car. Yesterday, i manage to test drive preve cfe somewhere around stadium shah alam area. Its about 1 km drive, i have to agree with most of sifu here that preve really good in term of handling & comfort. The only issue that not align with what i expected is the pickup of the cvt gearbox. At start, try to drive in "D" mode, all system running smooth. The SA suggest me to start to use paddle shift & from that time i feel the transition of gear smooth but with slow pickup. This situation is really make me down as i compare to my tiptronic daihatsu gearbox. 2nd stage, i tried to us the gear knob & put it to manual mode. At this time, i started to feel an increasing of torque response when i change the gear but still cannot tackle my feeling as compare to my jap gearbox.

Overall......i must say that i am falling in love with preve cfe due to it is the only sedan car below 100k come with turbo & 2 of my cousin already show me the power of cfe (in exora bold).

no matter how the CVT was programmed, a CVT will never give the driver the mechanical feel of conventional torque converter automatic transmission.

My advice to you is, keep the sweet memories you had with your daihatsu gearbox and start with a fresh mindset when adapting to CVT.

Current CVT settings is good enough for me..smooth & good acceleration with no over revving like the original settings. If Proton could insulate the CVT sound from penetrating the cabin, the ride will be much quieter nod.gif

Yupp..my younger brother 1997 Civic EK (2 door) CVT sound also not so intrusive. Mind u that was a 1997 manufactured car..which in this case is more refine in term of CVT technology
