Hi, My name is khairi, currently still using my 2004 p2 kenari but already upgrade to daihatsu 1.3 turbo engine. Since early of this month i started to study about preve due to my family are getting bigger & i feel its time for me to move to sedan car. Yesterday, i manage to test drive preve cfe somewhere around stadium shah alam area. Its about 1 km drive, i have to agree with most of sifu here that preve really good in term of handling & comfort. The only issue that not align with what i expected is the pickup of the cvt gearbox. At start, try to drive in "D" mode, all system running smooth. The SA suggest me to start to use paddle shift & from that time i feel the transition of gear smooth but with slow pickup. This situation is really make me down as i compare to my tiptronic daihatsu gearbox. 2nd stage, i tried to us the gear knob & put it to manual mode. At this time, i started to feel an increasing of torque response when i change the gear but still cannot tackle my feeling as compare to my jap gearbox.

Overall......i must say that i am falling in love with preve cfe due to it is the only sedan car below 100k come with turbo & 2 of my cousin already show me the power of cfe (in exora bold).

no matter how the CVT was programmed, a CVT will never give the driver the mechanical feel of conventional torque converter automatic transmission.

My advice to you is, keep the sweet memories you had with your daihatsu gearbox and start with a fresh mindset when adapting to CVT.

Yes bro......agree with you.....cannot tune the CVT concept......i will start to tune my mindset... thumbup.gif

That is the result of the CVT. In "S" mode, it tends to stay at 5000 to 5500 rpm. Just pedal to the metal, and RPM *rapidly* increases to 5000 rpm. Then it will *slowly* increase to 5500 rpm. However the car speed will increase substantially. RPM has no direct correlation with car speed in CVT gearbox.

"S" mode is there to give max acceleration. But you have to bear the noise from the engine. Many have done max throttle in "S" mode to give best pickup to 190 kph, then "D" mode to further increase speed till 210 kph.

About the smell, it is normal for new cars. Everyone experienced them. But I don't really remember when it will go away. Perhaps after 1,000 km.

actually we are use to drive with a manual gearbox or normal Automatic transmission, CVT technology is quiet new for most of malaysian poeple (for low & middle income earner).

as for me, its total a new experience & it totally difference concept compare to normal automatic transmission. My understanding is, as for the CVT, we don't have 100% control on the gear transition due to it control by the ECU.

"IF" proton use the same concept as KIA forte by having a 6 speed auto transmission, maybe i will be the first customer to book drool.gif

Quality - Fiesta
Features - On par.
Handling - On par. Preve is more stable, Fiesta is more nimble.
Safety - Preve CFE vs Fiesta S, Preve wins. Preve CFE vs. Fiesta S XTR / Beta or Fiesta Sedan, Fiesta wins.
Performance - Preve wins if high speed rolling start, Fiesta wins if pickup from low speed. If hill climbing, Preve has the upperhand. But this is just in theory, have never raced with Preve before.
Practicality - Preve. Fiesta S has tiny boot and small cabin.
Fuel Economy - Fiesta

If you are looking for a family car, no point looking at the Fiesta. Like other said, wait for the Preve hatchback and see what Proton has to offer.

EDIT: Oh another thing, despite having 6-spd dual clutch, the Fiesta has no manual mode.

i waiting for this kind of comparison on Preve & kia forte (1.6 sx). Any sifu can share in this threat?
