Guys, expecting a profit margin of 10% per annum is realistic for UT investments? What have been you average per annum margins since you started investing in UT?

10% is achievable, but a bit challenging I'd say. For me, beating EPF dividend is the target. Bear in mind that with UTs we have Sales Charges to contend with, so that makes it effectively 6% + 2% = 8% targeted fund performance.

I started UT investing in 2008,
temporarily suspended UT investing during 2010 (sold most of the funds, stopped topping up),
and resumed UT investing during mid-2012.

Portfolio mode:
2008 to 2010 - VERY AGGRESSIVE, about 75% in equities sweat.gif
2012 to early 2013 - Conservative, about 75% in fixed income

Current IRR: 6.3%. Target attained. icon_rolleyes.gif

Imagine the IRR had I not freaked out during 2010 and started with a balanced portfolio back in 2008? blush.gif

hmm.gif wondering why 10% pa? what is your risk level? can you afford to not touch the $$ in the fund for about 3 years while waiting for it to recover in the event of market crash?
suggest you read FSM guide
http://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/schoo...g.svdo?PageID=3

maybe it helps....especially the conclusion part

If MYR keeps weakening back, AmAsia Pacific REIT will move back to its highest peak.

Of course, other conditions must play its role too like optimism in the global equity.

What will happen if SAQF dropped drastically one day. It's not sustainable. Hmm

HwangIM must be having a field day goreng-ing small-mid caps lately. It's highly unlikely to have that sort of returns without active trading, even with the recent broad rally in equities.

HAQ had been uptrend since 09 if u bought it on 09, so not sustainable for nearly 5yrs? i would say they did a good job/lucky.

Maybe they change or review their holdings more frequent since you need to capture the pocket of opportunity in small to medium cap companies.
