If u are looking at China fund, u buy when Shanghai index and Hang Seng China Enterprises index are low.

US fund? When Dow and S&P 500 are low.

Emerging Markets? When MSCI EM index is low.

ShangHai 3 years low P/E 12.xx

Dow all time high P/E 14.xx laugh.gif

Shanghai going down, Dow creeping higher, but when Dow falls, Shanghai also "follow sentiment" and falls tongue.gif

Short term investor probably cannot stand the volatility of shanghai market. But over the next 3 or 5 years, should be able to perform. Otherwise, we will see shanghai labelled as 6-8years low. laugh.gif

Every month, e.g. they should update 30-Apr-2013 fact sheet by 20th May.

Japan Nikkei continues its crazy bull run shocking.gif

Rebalancing every month is crazy. Quarterly still okay icon_idea.gif

Most private equity already enter Japan few months ago. Public equity, now still waiting for SC approval, by then the nikkei is considered as very hot market laugh.gif

Company profit first, customer priority is second!

Just like PM, they seem to always hard sell a market when the hype is maxxed and the market toppish laugh.gif

My theory is like this. First they use cash under company to buy japanese stocks. Profit is all theirs. When valuation is peaking, by then they only allow subscribers. Thus reducing PM stakes in japanese market. But PM could have sell their japanese stocks in nikkei exchange. So this theory might flaws. laugh.gif Unless the company buy large volume until it is difficult to dispose.

I did experience quite a big loss by putting all egg in one basket. Public smallcap fund lost 50k in 2011. But now it has recovered. The fund has a good very good fundamental and good track record. The best fund in PM. But it could make u loss big time.

Another obsevation is that, keep significant cash. During early euro debt crisis, KLCi slump to 13xx level, only bought little because expect it will drop further. Me and sifu wong standby that time. Too bad it rebounds. laugh.gif doh.gif

Japan earthquake, market drop. But rebound so quickly with natural resources dominate the market. Thailand flood no effect.

Recent GE13, didnt do much sell or buy. But expect it will drop because nobody know who will win. I did research on past GE events, proven drop everytime. But this time it rallied like mad.

Conclusion, stop speculating. Keep significant cash in case market drop. icon_rolleyes.gif

Buy in stages. Say you have 20k spare cash. Buy 10k, the rest go in by 5k + 5k.
