i find that for me, the search button is quite useful actually...
kinda save a bit of time when searching stuff, rather than go to internet explorer to do so...
the only time that button made me angry is when i accidentally press it when snapping photos

Google search is no big deal, I think the most important is universal search. Work best if it can search through messages, apps, ie history, pdf etc.

You can actually scan text from hardcopy (magazines, newspapers) and convert it to softcopy for Powerpoint slides or Word documents. Try it... press search button -> eye symbol -> scan text -> copy all -> paste

But I hardly use it anyway..

How wish they it was for universal search...my ifag friends all trying to search using that haha...and always try to "press" the windows button haha..i feel wp8 got so much potential...just needs improvement .....hopefully we will see a new facebook app soon ...

3 basic things i want the most - notification center, X button to close apps in task manager, and file manager.

Android's notification center is a pull down from the top, for windows phone, i think it'd be nice to be a right swype (and just like the home screen, u can scroll through up and down). It would also be nice if the notification center has some live tile look (instead of just lists of words) and connectivity shortcuts on top. Now home screen only have left swype, no right swype. Just borrow some idea from Meego with the swype gestures.

Nice idea! But wouldn't swiping down to close apps in task manager is much better?
Hope to see updates on user experience in these areas.

IMO... if need to have Notification center for WP8, then is kinda redundant because Microsoft already made LiveTiles with notification on the Tiles. And we can still customize what notification can be seen at Lock Screen as well but it does depend on the app compatibility as well.

Would love it if Microsoft could do something to the app list ...not sure what they can do right now...but if you have many apps that makes the experience not so enjoyable ...but swype right for NC won't be suitable to be viewed from writhin apps ...I guess top bar NC would be the best...but that is like copying android and iOS ..

Thats different. Notification window across all platform one click it shows all notification from email, sms, apps update, sms, misscall while tiles can only show max 8 tiles and the biggest joke must wait it flip until the info you want appear.

i think it only work if the user have super duper crazy insane steady hands... slight shake can messed up the pic easily... need tripod or something for best result.... you guys can check at wpcentral forum for more proshot pictures... even the dev is there to gather info or bug issue face by user...

I got posted the sample before in previous version of thread. 2sec and 4sec tested with ProShot on Portico.
