Thinking of driving to maxis store now and get the L920
Tested the phone. Impressed by the camera OMG really fall in love
Only thing holding me back is windows laugh.gif

Oh yea, i found the font is very unappealing laugh.gif
*
On the font, my friend complained the title too big, like "People", "Music + Videos" on top, he says the UI very nice but the titles too big, wastes screen space. I kinda agree because in my contacts page the top half of the screen all taken over by the big title and my own profile. But i dont hate scrolling lol.

Haiz, a lot to update liao, the maps, drive...

Off topic, a bit,,, i saw the Lumia 520 at USD $184, that means most likely in M'sia only RM 600. Makes me think that anyone who buys a RM 600 android phone is an idiot... You cant get that kind of specs and lag free experience for that kind of price for Androids.

Nokia doesn't usually announce anything big at the MWC, they usually like to have their own floor rather than the 15 minutes of news coverage at the MWC. News cycle moves so fast now so they need maximum coverage for their premium phones. MWC cover the whole gamut so, publicity wise, not so much.
*
They still stole the show with the 808 last year. But i think Nokia considered that phone as a niche device for geeks, not a high end or flagship.

Not really, Because 90% of android users will tell you "Cannot jailbreak leh... canot use cracked apps leh... i dont want pay 3 ringgit for a game..."
Seriously... =.=; I never hesitate to pay for the apps i want.

I bet these people dunno cheap phones and expensive phones have different specs. All they know is the obvious hardware - screen size, camera, screen quality, amount of space, things like that. Many people who dont have knowledge in smartphones will just ask friend or shop to recommend, given the budget price. And, 80% of shop owners recommend a samsung.

Yes that's really one of the reason.
September is the best because MS updates their WP OS in June, so phones that announced in September usually with the new OS already.
*
I think Nokia needs 2 flagships a year, just like for HTC - One X and Butterfly; Samsung - Galaxy S3 and Note 2.
I dont like this actually, phones become outdated too fast, but it's needed to stay relevant in marketshare. But as long WP doesnt support 1080p yet Nokia cant make phablets. But they can differentiate by cameras - a slim flagship with no more than 12Mp Cam to keep it slim, and another one with giant hump - camera. Make the release of these 2 flagships 6 months apart.

In android, not evrybody likes a giant screen over 5'. In Nokia's case, they give consumers a choice of a good all-rounder flagship that is slim, or a thicker one with focus to camera.

Although the Nokia GPS navigation software is good, but the satelite reception for this 920 is really weak compared with N8 and N9. With slight more cloudy day here I can hardly get the GPS to be locked, whereas with N8 and N9 side by side they can get the satelite locked on at slightly longer duration.

Today I just sesat again due to my phone cannot get the GPS lock on...
*
IMO 920 is thick partly because the polycarbonate shell is quite thick especially the sides, and if im not mistaken all sorts of antenna are aligned along the sides of the phone. I have issues locking the GPS during rain... cludy weather still can.

and I thought to myself I was the only one here facing issues with gps problem sweat.gif

not really sure what is causing the issue. signal not strong enough ?

whenever i start-up nokia drive/here drive in the car, it takes time to know which location im at.

and after knowing which location im at, it takes time to follow up where the car itself is heading.

i also make mistakes on the road by taking wrong turns. that's because i sometimes get tricked by the map tongue.gif yeah, maybe im too noob to even follow a simple map direction.

anyway, signal quality depends on which location you're at ? some pick up the signal of the location very fast on the map while at times it can take quite a while.
*
Yup, location also plays a role; in Penang damn fast, locks on in mere seconds. And when im here in Kedah state (but weather isnt good) 2 minutes liao also cant lock on properly. rclxub.gif

my here drive is on as we speak and its pin pointing me less then 100 meters away from where I am right now which is at home laugh.gif
yep, happen to me always without fail after the indicator is lock on to my location.

when the car is moving, the indicator just freezes.
done that, still the same results sad.gif
-----------------------------------------

hey im facing a new problem or a recently discovered problem.

my battery was 90%. and when I switch off and turn on the phone, the battery level went back to 100% . wtf ?

is my battery kaput so fast after 3 months ?
*
That is common, regarding the battery... even my older 2 nokia symbian phones also like that...
You know, the 7 bars of battery, the first 3 bars drop very slowly, but when only half is left, it drops faster than usual. If u restart the phone, the battery goes up by 20-30%, then later it will drop faster. I have no idea why, but such battery indicator problems is like a tradition in Nokia phones.

Anybody got good headset recommendations ? Non in ear types that can work (Mic,volume/call buttons work). Thanks in advance
*
Avoid bootlegs and pasar malam headphones. Get one that cost at least in hundreds. Take note of these brands: AKG, Audio Technica, Denon, Pioneer, Sennheiser. The first 2 and last one are more commonly used with phones/mobile devices. If you care about fashion/good looks you can also check out Skullcandy.

What specific model, you'd have to do your own search online or ask around, depending what taste you have for music (whether you want balanced, bass - low and mid emphasis, or acoustically tuned headsets). There are no perfect headsets for mobile devices, audiophile class headsets that are perfect usually have too high impedance (requires amp) to be used with mobile devices and designed for home use, and too large to be portable enough.

Avoid Beats/Monster unless you only care about bass spam, and since it is celebrity stuff, you pay more and get less in audio quality.

*Edit
For me I'm a Sennheiser user. I swap between the Sennheiser HD203DJ (for bass: pop, R&B, rock, RMM 190) and HD449 (acoustic headset, RM 360) depending what songs Im listening to. The HD203's wire is ridiculously long (as expected from a DJ headset) although it is portable, and you really want to take care not to damage the wires. And i have other higher priced headphones but for home use.

Actually im not getting one for music.. but rather calls. Anyone tried jabra chill/active.. Cant find much in garrage sales for decent wired handsfree. For music i have a separate DAP and headphone and iem. Not willing to spend hundreds on just calls..hehe smile.gif Prob below 100 is okay smile.gif And also prefer non in ear types...if you know any..let me know. I guess i can find pasar malam headsets but voice will sound boxy and unclear..and dont know if the mic is good or not.
*
Ah, calls... then better go for bluetooth ones. Jabra is pretty good, i liked Jabra Stone, very stylish but bloody expensive for something that produces mono audio ==;

Maybe im old skul...but i prefer wired ones..hehe~ Any good wired handsfree ? or maybe those brands like edifier or sensonic or smtg like that should be okay right? better than pasar malam brands i guess... sweat.gif
*
For music i prefer wired; for calls i prefer wireless lol. That kind of handsfree ah, nokia outlets have or not? I dunno about your place, but my place they sell older models of Nokia brand handsfree for 90+, but not really sure if it is compatible wit windows phone.

I experienced this once, only music player and bluetooth running but the phone is always warm and battery dropped a bit faster despite data being switched off. I just restart the phone no problem ady, must be some background apps that didnt even appear in the task manager,

Nowadays flagship phone cycles down to 6 months from yearly, which kinda piss me off because phones get outdated too fast... Just like Samseng release S3 in mid year and Note 2 in year end, HTC has the One X and Butterfly...

Using data? Either Skype or Whatsapp (or both) at fault. Switch off data when not using.

For me, when i dont use data i always switch it off, and most stuff are manual sync including mail. If i dont use data, i can use 2 days before it reaches 20%. If occasional data usage, can last a day. I listen to music a lot, at least 3-4 hrs a day with a full size headset.

I dont use whatsapp at all so far. I installed it but didnt configure anything (Dont have an account yet). I also noticed taking lots of photos (like, 100 of them) battery also drain damn fast.

Was Asphalting for quite a while, like over an hour or longer just now and my battery plummeted 50% LOL. Surprisingly the phone is only a bit warm, not very hot.

i find that for me, the search button is quite useful actually...
kinda save a bit of time when searching stuff, rather than go to internet explorer to do so...
the only time that button made me angry is when i accidentally press it when snapping photos laugh.gif

I accidentally press on it a lot, especially when playing games of taking photos
