QUOTE(Rei7 @ Feb 25 2013, 10:17 PM)
Besides the rebrand, it looks like they have tweaked the app a lot.
It's very smooth and it has significant improvements.
You'll feel the difference when you use it, if you use it a lot like me.

City Lens have the map for quite sometime now, when you put the phone down you'll see the map.
It's smoother and has a better experience after the update.
I don't notice much difference in Nokia Map but Lens and Drive are a bit different and smoother.
*
Other things I notice:
- Favourites from the Maps are now synchronized to Drive and vice versa. Also sync to my Nokia account on here.com. Neat.
- Economical Route from Drive has been replaced with Balanced Route. Could be a balance between Shorter Route and Faster Route, both of which remain as before.
- In Drive, we can now customize to show only the map features that we need, for example, we can tick any of these: Car Repair, Fuel, ATM, Police Stations, hospitals, parking, etc...

turn off celular and wifi, go airplane mode. your gps should work better.

and maybe make sure your 920 region is set to malaysia.
*
My region is set to US. Works fine in Malaysia and tested good in Thailand recently. Just switch off data plan, should be sufficient.

Any other function for search button besides the windows logo other than popping up bing search?

QUOTE(plue_fc @ Mar 3 2013, 08:47 PM)
the search button seems useless to me. Dont know how others think.

You can actually scan text from hardcopy (magazines, newspapers) and convert it to softcopy for Powerpoint slides or Word documents. Try it... press search button -> eye symbol -> scan text -> copy all -> paste

But I hardly use it anyway.. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(ian2000 @ Mar 15 2013, 01:28 PM)
I have been using Lumia 920 for 4 days now. When I first enquired about this phone at my favourite phone shop, the owner tried his best to discourage me from getting it and was pushing the Z10, Experia Z and Note 2 to me instead. But I have done my research via the thread here and was adamant in securing my Yellow 920 one way or the other. I have been an iphone user for the last 4 years. My last one was 4s. I didn't bother to upgrade to 5.

I was so excited on finally laying my hands on the phone (after waiting for it in the shop for almost 3 hours as I wanted a yellow one). Honestly, I have not been this excited over a new phone for as long as I can remember. I simply loved it. The live tiles are amazing. The screen, responsiveness and the simplicity (despite being a totally new OS to me) were outstanding. Only wish that there are more accessories for this.

Typical shop assistants, i feel like slapping them sometimes...  sweat.gif They treat us consumers like idiots when some of us really do our research and if i prefer this model, that is my problem. Or is Samsung paying u if u sell their phones more? Im actually surprised they recommend Blackberry Z10 over Lumia 920. If im not a businessman i see no reasons to get BB Z10 which is inferior to L920 in hardware (sorry, if anyone here is a BB fan).  Not to mention BB OS lacks even more apps than windows phone.

Same thing happened to my bro in-law. He is looking to get his first smartphone (coming from Sony Ericson), and was very impressed when I showed him my Nokia Drive getting us back to his house one day. Being a sales guy, GPS navigation is his priority. What's more, it's reliable while offline. So, recently he went to his friend's mobile shop and asked about the new Lumia. Guess what? His friend strongly recommended Sony Xperia and showed him that it can also handle GPS navigation offline. (I have not used Android before, so I am not sure if it's a dealer version of Sygic offline GPS app, or even a hacked version, or other software. Does Android have a similar app like Nokia Drive on Lumia?). And the shop owner talked about Lumia's bluetooth problems (could be referring to WP7 version), Windows Phone not mature yet, blah, blah, blah.... So, I think he's now leaning toward Sony Xperia. Not sure if he has bought the phone yet.

QUOTE(azraeil @ Mar 27 2013, 12:51 PM)
Confirm that whatsapp chat history will be wiped clean after re-flash (I did my reflash last night and I backed up everything!) but since Whatsapp only backs up to phone memory (in the case of Lumia 920 anyway), when the phone is re-flashed, everything is wiped clean and the backup is gone.

Luckily my finance program was backed up to Skydrive, other I would be one pissed motherfkr today.

Windows Phone 8 backup/restore system is bloody LAME!, I am still downloading all my apps (Gigabytes of them what with Asphalt and Need for Speed or whatever) and all the system updates (Like the Extra+Info, Network+ etc) have to be updated manually (and they cannot be found in the App Store unless you have the direct link or the CR code which is another FAIL)

I updated because I wanted the Storage Check thing and guess what, it's not there!!! WTF? I suspect it's because I need to update all the system settings first (like the Extra+Info etc etc.) Good god this is bloody painful.

I have done backups and restore of iPhones, iPads etc and everything was done in like 30-45 minutes because iOS devices can be backed up (and I mean every single thing) to the computer.

Microsoft needs to do the same damn thing

Sorry for the rant.

I thought the OTA updates are pretty efficient in Arab land? cool2.gif
They haven't officially released the new firmware over there?

if i'm not mistaken the power output is around current is around 750 mA...
which i guess is around 0.75 instead of 1 using the wall charger...

On my original Lumia 820 wall charger, the output is stated as 1.3A.

Just updated my 920 to Portico (1249.1007) via OTA. I found out that my GPS isnt working anymore. Every program that need "location service" doesnt work too. It used to be fine since i purchased the phone.
*
Did you try restarting your phone? I had the same problem after the last HERE Maps update (last week). After restart, it is working again. BTW, I am waiting for the OTA update.

hi guys,
in here drive beta, is there any way to pinpoint the destination manually?
like in papago where u can touch the map and set it as destination instead of using the search function hmm.gif
*
QUOTE(solution2u @ Apr 4 2013, 07:40 PM)
seems like cannot. But you can tap and hold on Nokia map then choose drive symbol and start navigation. Then choose Nokia Drive
*
Yeah, I always start searching from Maps. U can also tap and hold on Maps. Once location is found, 'get directions' will link u to Drive. I never start with Drive immediately unless my destination has been saved as favorites earlier.

no brand, RM25 only,
but ok la, the black plastic part, no squeek at all, good fit to the phone,
better build than rock naked shell case, except it is abit thinner..
i bought it just to use it as a stand.. lol..
got many color, dint buy black cos sometimes it is hard to find dark color when i put my phone somewhere (in bag for example)
*
Nice one. Actually I also prefer a flip case instead of a hard backcover case; can protect the screen better in the pocket and act as buffer protection when the phone drops. I used to have one for my L820, but it doesn't fit very well with my car mount when using Here Drive. Now just using a single hard backcover plus a screen protector.

unfortunately I can't find the wagon brand here
*
I got the same Little Wagon GPS holder from Aeon Melaka for about RM25. You might find one at the Aeon near you. It's all plastic and due to the weight of the phone (mine is L820), vibration cannot be avoided.
