Morning world. Another day... Midweek. How has your forte been treating you? Mine gave me a surprise this morning. It came out error message "steering not locked" and won't start when I press push start this morning. Then I try again, ok already. Weirdness.

This issue is being explained in the users manual & can easily been solved if we notice the error message on the supervision cluster before u going out of the car. It's due to certain steering position that unalign with the auto steering lock mechanism. This should not happen if we keep the steering in normal straight position when we turn off the engine. It's not a problem by any means & very rarely happens

I believe this only applies to the early batch of Forte that comes with 2 year warranty which has an option to purchase for another 3 years extended warranty from the insurance company. Current Forte with originally comes with 5 years warranty from NazaKia should not face this issue i believe...

Share the same sentiment as you, some more the worst part is the warranty under Allianz does not cover as comprehensive as under Kia. Besides, as mentioned in some previous post, there is RM200 excess fees to be paid doh.gif

Can the KIA Sales Advisors whom are 'regulars' of this LYN Forte Thread provide some insights into this?
These are genuine users/potential purchasers whom are getting restless over this "5 YEAR WARRANTY" issue.

Thx for the info bro. smile.gif well, maybe it was misaligned but the probability was slim coz I reverse park into my porch and its always straight when I switch off my engine. Anyway thanks! Now I pay more attention to the locking sound whenever I stop the engine. smile.gif

Dear Bros/ Sister,
Can I really get the exact confirmation :
My car was registered in Nov 12 . Do we need to get the letter from Kia confirming our car is under 5 years warranty ?

I have following this threat for so long, some says yes, some say no. I am quite worry, if not the 5 years warranty, I would not consider Forte although it has value to buy it. Even different SC saying different answer.
TQ

Shell: 2.89.5

Mine is only 2.83.2 .. he went back to Naza Galaxy to update. I was wondering if it is possible to search online and update ourself.

Anyway have the link to update the HU shell?

Thanks

just to share something i read from FB last week or so, for extended warranty seems it is not up to KIA to decide.
owner got it warranty rejected because he missed/late for his 2nd service last time by Allianz.

So guys try to be at least punctual for your service.

hi guys....silly question here...i have a 2.0 6 speed forte....2 years old

yesterday on NS highway a honda city (current gen) was beind me and after letting him pass i had a hard time trying to keep up with him...
seems like the honda city was very fast.... i was doing about 160-170 and he was still pushing forward like a real sports car

anything wrong with my car?
also anybody know the curb weight of the 2.0?

honday city's curb weight is 1,140 kg (from official website) so now i am wondering is it because my car is extra heavy?
