Hello Sifu of forte,

I would like to hear some review/comment from you guys, as my parents has been fight over which car to go with for dozen time.

I had searched quite number of info about Kia Forte, and of course consult with different dealer/agent (Salesman from Kia showroom , agent that selling various brand of car)

Comparing Kia Forte with Toyota Vios J edition.
- With around the same price, I can get a full spec 1.6 Forte or a empty edition of toyota Vios.
- Vios has been market for quite a long time, with better feedback compare with Forte.
- Fuel consumption, Vios is more economic than Forte especially City driving.
- Forte is more stable then Vios due to the weight itself, and this is the main reason why Vios is less fuel consumption.
- Forte is more spacious when compare with Vios.
- Forte having a more comfortable sitting compare with Vios.
Basically,both have its own selling point, now here come the questions.

Cant guarantee the Forte remain good condition after 5 years, as lot of feedback from relative and friends telling that most problem occur after 3 years of usage. - What car can guarantee you? Can i laugh at you if you bought Vios and have problem in a year? 

One of my mum's close friend having issue with her window after 2 years. (driver side) - Very subjective

Forte come with lot of awesome feature, but does anyone here having issue with it especially those auto light on, wiper. People are saying more feature = harder maintenance = Higher maintenance cost. - Of course, when you have more stuff, higher probability for some to gone bad and replace. A person with one phone VS a person with 10 phones, you have higher probability for parts !@#$%

Engine sound, it become quite loader (big different)  after 3 years of usage. True or false. - I believe every car engine also become louder over the time.

Stabling, handling, what's your comment on this sector, without additional modification, or upgrade. - Decent, not excellent, but better if compare with Vios or Altis.

Multimedia dashboard, radio. Does it still work well and good in respond (touch screen) after years of usage ? - Can someone assure me if iphone still work well after years of usage?
These question is mean to be have better understanding at the car since most of you here are Forte owner, not to Pro any brand or model. Kindly point out which statements above are false, or further explain it.

Hopefully this will help me and my parents better in choosing the right car.

Agree with this, in any way Forte still worth it's money when come to those awesome function where Vios don't have. My parents using a 10 years Toyota Unser, neighbor having a aged Vios (older edition) basically they don't have any issue so maybe that's the factor they prefer to go ahead with T brand.
I am not the one who buying the car, but my parents, both my brother and I contribute some. 5-8 years later, my dad will no longer working, so it wont be an easy task for them to get a new car by that time. From their view, they claiming that even Vios might also a problem giving car, but they already know how serious will it be since they got friends with it. As long as no serious problem with it that causing high repair, maintenance fees, it isn't a must for them to get a new car.

Now they still wondering either having a Forte , City , or Inova

guys just wondering which car will have better petrol saving, between 1.6L and 2.0L.

Now to my understanding, 1.6L should be more petrol saving if
1) More to city drive (70%)
2) Less to highway drive (30%) <--full highway, smooth drive, 3 passengers,  can get around 550km-630km

2.0L should be more petrol saving if
1) Less to city drive (30%)
2) More to highway drive (70%)

Now, of course other consideration are such as how you press the pedal, how often you break, your driving style, etc. So let say for general knowledge, is my understanding correct?

A friend told me that 2.0L is more petrol saving irregardless if you have more city or highway drive. his explanation was Forte is a heavy car and if you have more than 3 ppl sit inside your car, then 1.6L is underpower. Whereby 2.0L is powerful enough irregardless of the no of ppl sit inside.

I tried to reason saying that the petrol needed by 1.6L is lower, even though there are 3 ppl sitting inside the car.

so now, which is which?

agree with you that final conclusion depending on the right leg. now let say right leg adjustment the same, and driving path also the same, between 1.6L and 2.0L, which one LOGICALLY will save more petrol?
both i can afford,just that i wanna buy a good FC consumption car only. So say 50KM difference, that 2.0L more petrol saving? or 1.6L?

i totally agree with you. 2.0 has more features and definately more powerful when i press on the pedal. no doubt about it. but one of your comment 1.6 to drive smoother, in what sense?
EPS is available for both 1.6 premium and 2.0 right? i do agree with you 2.0 has more safety features. but i'm just curious to find out on the FC.
i think you got me wrong. it's common sense that cars like myvi, fiesta, vios, etc have much better FC compare to C segment cars. after all, it's totally 2 different category. What I really wanna know is whether my own "common sense" is right or wrong. Meaning my own understanding is that 1.6L should be more petrol saving in city drive (assuming not more than 3 ppl in Forte) compare to 2.0 in city drive. But my friend's understanding was 2.0L should be more petrol saving in city drive (assuming not more than 3 ppl in Forte) compare to 1.6L in city drive. Now, which one of us are right?

Let's make assumptions i'm the driver, use the same leg, same speed, same route, etc. all the same, and only comparison goes back to 1.6 vs 2.0. Which one have better FC? If 1.6L, for example, for a full tank, maybe it will not be more than 50km different? another example? I'm curious to find out.

To my experience (and limited knowledge), 1.6L should provide a slightly better fuel economy for full town-driving environment (meaning with regular start-stops-idling time).

To be perfectly honest, if u do a little read-up on the correlation between higher C.C.ed cars and FC, you'll see the logic.

However, pls bear in mind that this may not hold true for all car/engine models. Other mechanical/electronic features in a modern vehicle can assist towards the savings or wastage of fuel.
It all depends on how a vehicle is actually set-up/factory tuned.

hi guys....silly question here...i have a 2.0 6 speed forte....2 years old

yesterday on NS highway a honda city (current gen) was beind me and after letting him pass i had a hard time trying to keep up with him...
seems like the honda city was very fast.... i was doing about 160-170 and he was still pushing forward like a real sports car

anything wrong with my car?
also anybody know the curb weight of the 2.0?

honday city's curb weight is 1,140 kg (from official website) so now i am wondering is it because my car is extra heavy?
   

2.0 in highway cant catch up honda city? Unless he heavy mod else i think ur car got prob. Mine 1.6, vios and city cant chase start gear 2 in highway.

My 'stable' meant was more towards handling. The 1.3 tonne weight it is just sufficient enough to go around.

And yes, I do agree on the braking system. I tend to change to better ones (Brembo/Endless) to give a better bite on braking. I felt braking at high speeds at times are slippery.

for forte only stiff ring available at the front..passenger at the back feel stiff? haha...

anyway yes ride will be stiffer, same goes if u install UR bars..ride will be stiffer..but handling will improve..there is give and take and everything geh la... no such thing as best in everything...

u wan better handling..u suffer on comfort..u wan comfort..then u suffer on handling.. unless if u r going conti rides.. hmm...

anyhow if install stiff ring already complain stiff..dun even go towards changing adjustable suspension oredi.. :-)

I plan to pasang mercun soon. Hope can overtake Kancil 1.3 on highway.

with my 1.6SX, single or double mercun better for me?
