Is this normal when drizzling happen ?? Aircond direction WAS BLOWING direct to passenger..(no windscreen nor leg) blush.gif

*
I think it's normal coz it happened to me as well. Exact same scenario.
Even my friend's Vios '08 had the same thing going.
To minimize this, just make sure that u clean the inner part of your vehicle windscreen thoroughly and keep it dry (with no water mark, etc.).

Can make appointment

Just to enquire whether your car meter 30KM  & 50KM  no light . Is this the all the same ?
The car's stock tyre is really noisy like lorry .
*
Speedometer with 30 and 50kmh marked differently?
It's because of the speed limit for most European countries (School zone = 30kmh; City = 50kmh; Highway = 130kmh).
Economics of scale dictates that our Fortes should share parts (read: speedo cluster) with the Euro models, hence the markings smile.gif

Forced induction is almost similar to displacement, only on the surface. Essentially, displacement is still the answer to a sustained top speed.
It all depends on what an individual wants out of his/her ride smile.gif

After 6 months owning this car, I found ada dua lubang like ekzos lubang kat bawah front seat. Kiri pun ada.. kanan pun ada. What are these?

And my engine noise still there after I changed from BHP to Caltex... The noise like coming from under the air con, or gear box. Really sad sad.gif
The noise only started after 5-10mins drive. Anyone know.. please help.
*
Those are Air-Cond ducts if I correctly assume that you are referring to them. smile.gif

Strange noise coming from your engine?
Better get it checked out by a trusty mechanic or send it to the SC (go to SCs which have the tools to run a software diagnosis on your car) for a diagnosis. It could be compression issue. Hopefully it'll turn out to be something minor.

Bro g88..don't la kutuk bennedict82 like that.
Everyone is learning together mah. Some start learning early (like you), some start learning late.
We should give credit to all whom made the effort to learn and share their experiences/wisdom.
Sometimes, we give and take..even when the question may seem simple an dumb to some, it could be something which another person had never thought of. Different people sees something from different perspectives/angles.

In any case, I hope to be able to meet you guys for TT soon. Wanna see and gain some ideas on racuns/mods.
PEACE!

test drive liao luuu.. steering feedback precise and road grip is excellent for "cheap" B segment.. only negative is engine is slow to respond when pick-up after corner turning at traffic light junctions.. something like current new Swift punya power except Rio's 1.4 unit is refined and pleasantly quiet at low revs driving..

overall it's a very comfortable car ride for passengers also for driver.. rear seats has proper whole body support unlike shorter and undersized seats found in City, Vios, Mazda2, Fiesta etc.. the only B segment which I never encountered any claustrophobic for 1 hour journey drive to Genting on Chor 9 CNY..
*
By this sentence, do u mean to say that you traveled to Genting recently (on 9th day of CNY) in a brand new KIA Rio??

bro.. i agree with you as we as the consumer has the right to express our needs and expectations.. perhaps we could sign a petition on the common problems and send to NAZA Kia, or even to KMC Korea... i believe their HQ is really concern on the customers' feedback and they are driving very crazy to all the suppliers quality, i've been to Kia and Hyundai facilities experiencing the bombardment.. perhaps our CKD models material selection has been downgraded and Naza would know well... how about with CBU owners, are you facing the same road noise problem?
*
I second the motion to write/petition Hyundai-KIA Motor Corp.
But before we do so, we'll need to compile a listing of:

1) Common problems affecting our vehicle (hopefully about 1000 vehicle-owners)
2) List of Petitioners (which will require the inclusion of VINs)

Please feel free to add anything else to the list.

so bros... should we start this petition, which I think we could make use of "www.petitiononline.com"..?
common problems:
1. car pull left
2. dashboard rattling noise
3. headlight water condensation

i once lodge a complain to the SC in sg. petani on rattling noise and they verified, and its deteriorating... so the person in charge said they will revert this complaint to Naza Kia and after awaiting for so long without any respond from them, i followed up with them again and now they replied the technical people from Naza (Kia) need to accumulate all the problematic vehicles before coming for resolution... what a lame excuse!! i was in rush that time and did not want to argue with them.. furthermore i'm working abroad now and wait until i get back in the coming months, i will taruh them kao kao..  vmad.gif  mad.gif

I afraid that I need to repeat this again, I plonked in RM2k for a new set of tires and the car once and for all transformed from unpredictable safety and noisy ride into a stable planted on the ground with much more ride refinement quieter car on highway.. sharper maneuvering response is a bonus.. thus I don't felt that spending such money is a waste. QUOTE(Ah_Bear @ Feb 24 2013, 03:14 AM)
depends on what you need ie: features, safety, design preference, ride comfort and noise level, acceleration, handling etc comparison..
Proton cars still having its weak QC, flimsy materials and disappointing durability in current modern car maker industry..
Saga FLX rattles and loose plastics after 40k km mileage, Exora CFE has its famous buzzy and sluggish CVT, easily broken cooler vents plastics for "A/C" rear passengers..

Kia on the other hand, has none friendly treatment Service Advisors in SC, they are working everyday with no passion and happiness.
Forte isn't a perfect car / ZERO defect.. it still have some very very minor problems differs on each cars when bought new.. the famous one
being pull left steering, warm or nearly hot on cupholders plastics and front driver's side beside USB/Ipod plug-in socket and some got rattling seats
or dashboard.. but its overall built and ride quality is superior than the Preve's..

to sums up individual Forte and Preve's pros and cons in my point of view as follows:

Forte 2.0SX (sorry I have to base on 2.0's feedback because I don't own 1.6SX)
Pros:
1) First of all, very obvious you'll be greeted by convenient keyless lock and unlock and could start the engine by pressing the "START" button
right after your butt is sitting on the driver's seat by not having to take out the key fob from your pants pocket..
Preve's should have the key fob cucuk into they remote slot before you could push the "START" button.. and then
it gives you another problem.. !! when you press the button, the plastic fitting will move, see how flimsy and low quality it is ?
2) Reverse camera with auto electrochromic function. (1.6SX/2.0SX)
3) 6 speed auto brings the driving experience more lively.. one of the considerably smooth and prompt gear change gearbox around
4) 6 airbags with cruise control (2.0SX only)
5) Very quiet and most refined engine for bread and butter C-Segment class with sedate driving.. (1.6SX/2.0SX)
6) Despite its presence in Boleh-land for already 4 yrs, it still looks "futuristic" and "sporty" and one-of-a-kind
better looking C-Segment in the market at this point of time
7) Paddle shift (1.6SX/2.0SX) which is able to "feel" the gears better virtually than the CVT gearbox
8) Easy to read instrument cluster aka meter and LCD information (the way of info and numbers shown, direct and easy to read)

Cons:
1) CKD Car assembly still not great ie: inconsistent door closing sounds on each door, uneven door gaps, dashboard fitment workmanship better
than Proton, but not better than Toyota Vios & Honda's
2) Mediocre acceleration / pick-up strength.. probably due to limited torque to move the 17" inch all wheels and C segment body size and weight..
overtaking cars on highway could take a while.. (1.6SX)
torquey, smooth and quiet engine on highway, but higher revs at 4k rpm above could sound like WUUUUUUUUUUU - unpleasant screaming (2.0SX)
3) Doors closing sound still not as solid as other C segment competitors. For my case, all doors have different thud sound.
4) Slightly higher FC than the likes of Toyota Vios, Honda City (1.6SX)

Preve
Pros:
1) CFE engine of course.
2) Fun to drive especially town driving. Easily cilok here and there to overtake and cuts into ppl's lane quickly without signaling  tongue.gif
(continuous good torque on low rpm)
3) Going to Cameron Highland via Tapah old road sapu corners at 80kmph without worries..
alot of confidence and very safe feeling at any kind of road curves (legendary Lotus Ride and Handling suspension)
4) Continental car-like of ride feeling.
5) Proton's current most expensive sedan model.

Cons:
1) Lousy execution for keyless go and start stop engine. No purpose having that feature when you still need
to take out the key fob from the pocket to start the car.
2) Stupidly designed numerical font. Trying to mimic the digit numbers like the PS1 era's game console RPG games ?? HP / MP / LVL  shocking.gif  tongue.gif
3) Again.. hard to read information LCD on instrument panel.
4) Small screen and cacat cheap looking ICE HU.
5) CVT drives like a dead fish. Acceleration from the engine is noisy like driving a Nissan Vannette.
6) Exterior design esp front end looks like ikan paus. For Toyota Vios looks like dugong. Fish species.
7) Proton's infamous ciput absorbers will kaput after 3 years of use no matter how gentle or jialat you drive the car.
Same case for Proton Inspira.
8) Warranty still cannot beat Kia's warranty of 5 years with UNLIMITED kilometers mileage.

Lastly, do test drive at least more than 3 cars which within your budget and your selected ones that you like it and fits your criteria..
test drive something else which abit more expensive or cheaper than your budget also nevermind.. at least you would know
how well the products are madenowadays..

-End-
*
There you have it. The Birthday Boy has spoken!
He took time off from his important 'service' session just to share his insights on Preve vs Forte query.
I second his opinion on this.

Btw, what about Inspira vs Forte? Any ideas/comments?

Agreed that the weight of the car (inclusive of stock rims) will get the momentum going...but if you noticed, it takes quite a distance for the Forte to come to a full stop!

My first impression during my first highway run back to hometown was, "Wah, cannot simply tailgate cars on the highway already coz it's quite difficult to put the Forte to a stop in the event of an emergency situation."

IMHO, my first mod will most prolly be better brake pads first (besides changing the tyres once they wear out).

No such thing. Nowadays, with high-speed cameras (reputedly costs RM250K+ of the Tax-Payers money), u can fly as fast as 250kmh and still get caught on camera.

A logical and practical response.
Anything more than 150kmh should be done only in a controlled environment (read: on track).
Of course I'm not sayin that you can't speed over 150kmh.
Just do it in short bursts, like for 2km distance or less. Then slow down to a more sedate pace and carry on te journey in a safe manner smile.gif

I agree. Please do not risk your lives and others smile.gif You wanna go fast? Can. Choose roads that you frequently travel which is well lit AND those roads that allow you to go fast. That way there are no surprises wink.gif

I used to travel MEX quite often. Managed to hit 210kmph at one point during broad daylight. Never dared to try faster than that. Seeing the meter pointing to 210 is frightening enough  rclxub.gif bola kecut already that time  icon_question.gif
Bro, you are correct on the power part. RON97 and RON95 does not give us more power. Only reason why you should pump 97 over 95 is because you want to take care of your engine. It all depends on your engine compression ratio.
I've heard this somewhere before, but Forte's compression ratio is at the low end of RON97 (recommended petrol). It means that it is RON95 compatible (wouldn't kill your engine). However, in the long run (I don't know how long though), it will be bad for your engine.
Some might think, the incompatibility is so insignificant, when you decided to sell off the car after 7 years, you won't even experience any engine issues yet. I say - partially true. Depends on your luck wink.gif
I myself pump RON97 alternately. And I have to admit, my company subsidizes my petrol (otherwise I would take the risk myself pumping full RON95 tongue.gif). My work requires me to travel a lot. So I must keep my car in tip top condition at all times. No car = cannot cari makan sad.gif

My opinion? Use your own discretion.
Malaysia's weather/humidity and your automobile class along with your purpose of transport.
If you are a frequent racer whom would need that extra edge of 0.001seconds racing from one traffic light to another or running at the highway at speeds of above 200kmh on a daily basis, nitrogen is the way to go. smile.gif

a brief feedback, just got the super firestorm installed in my forte2.0 today, this is my feedback.

1) tested both the normal and super firestorm, immediately i can feel the car response is diffferent, more responsive and easy pickup even up hill.
2) enginee is quiet and powerful.
3) on the way back home, slight press on the paddle my car already pecut easily reach 110km/h. superb pickup .

will get back after 1 week testing.

Hi vv001.
Pls let me know if u have any other mods (besides this Firestorm mod). Mods like Air Filter element, Spark Plugs (iridium, etc.), Voltage Stabilizer, Fuel Additives/Carbon cleaner, etc.

i totally agree with you. 2.0 has more features and definately more powerful when i press on the pedal. no doubt about it. but one of your comment 1.6 to drive smoother, in what sense?
EPS is available for both 1.6 premium and 2.0 right? i do agree with you 2.0 has more safety features. but i'm just curious to find out on the FC.
i think you got me wrong. it's common sense that cars like myvi, fiesta, vios, etc have much better FC compare to C segment cars. after all, it's totally 2 different category. What I really wanna know is whether my own "common sense" is right or wrong. Meaning my own understanding is that 1.6L should be more petrol saving in city drive (assuming not more than 3 ppl in Forte) compare to 2.0 in city drive. But my friend's understanding was 2.0L should be more petrol saving in city drive (assuming not more than 3 ppl in Forte) compare to 1.6L in city drive. Now, which one of us are right?

Let's make assumptions i'm the driver, use the same leg, same speed, same route, etc. all the same, and only comparison goes back to 1.6 vs 2.0. Which one have better FC? If 1.6L, for example, for a full tank, maybe it will not be more than 50km different? another example? I'm curious to find out.

To my experience (and limited knowledge), 1.6L should provide a slightly better fuel economy for full town-driving environment (meaning with regular start-stops-idling time).

To be perfectly honest, if u do a little read-up on the correlation between higher C.C.ed cars and FC, you'll see the logic.

However, pls bear in mind that this may not hold true for all car/engine models. Other mechanical/electronic features in a modern vehicle can assist towards the savings or wastage of fuel.
It all depends on how a vehicle is actually set-up/factory tuned.
