QUOTE(nexona88 @ Jan 31 2018, 06:59 PM) Lulz Yes I agree with you, I'm guessing it's in the range between 6.5% to 7%7.5% dividend ahh.. Can dream on.. Best is around 7% only ๐ (I think leh) don't shot me if real one is higher ๐ ASB announced this year that the dividend for 2017 is 7% and historically EPF dividend is never higher than ASB dividend. This is due to ASB's asset allocation is more than 70% in equities and the remaining in fixed income instruments vs EPF's asset allocation is 46% in equities and 54% in money market & fixed income instruments As you can see EPF's asset allocation is more balanced (less risky compared to ASB) due to EPF is the people's retirement savings, and they have to guarantees a minimum of 2.5 Per Cent Dividend annually. |

Made self contribution last week on Thursday 25/1 and surprisingly the amounts are not reflected in i-akaun right now. Never had a problem before this.
Am worried won't be able to enjoy the dividend for the whole month of Feb. If it's only reflected tomorrow, I still won't get the dividend for the month of February , correct? |

QUOTE(drbone @ Jan 31 2018, 08:51 PM) The amount that was deposited needs to be in before Feb 2018 for me to enjoy the whole monthโs dividend is it not so ? The dividend which is going to declare is only meant for contribution made in 2017 and together with existing balance. Any contribution made after 31st December 2017 won't be take into 2017 dividend calculation. Apart from that the way, EPF calculates dividend for your monthly contribution is different and precise. Contribution made on January 2017 will be entitled for full year dividend rate. Contribution made on February 2017 will be entitled for 11/12 of the full year dividend rate. Contribution made on March 2017 will be entitled for 10/12 of the full year dividend rate. So on and so forth. Take note, the above dividend calculation is only meant for contribution. For your existing balance as of January 1st, 2017, they're entitled for full year dividend rate. Details: https://1-million-dollar-blog.com/how-to-ca...e-epf-dividend/ Hope this clears your worries and concerns about the contribution made this month (January 2018). QUOTE(plumberly @ Jan 31 2018, 08:52 PM) If I remember correctly, EPF is using daily balance rather than minimum monthly balance. Best is to ask EPF. Planning to ask tomorrow and will update here. The self contribution has never failed before via Maybank. Always the funds have been in latest within 3 working days. |

Yup my concern is not regarding the dividend thatโs gonna be declared in the coming 1-2 weeks. Itโs about whether I will be able to maximize full 11 months when the dividend rate is declared in 2019 for 2018 balances. Any contribution made after 31st December 2017 won't be take into 2017 dividend calculation. Apart from that the way, EPF calculates dividend for your monthly contribution is different and precise. So are you saying if funds are in on 1/2 or 15/2 , I will be able to benefit for February based on the date I put in ? Or is it based on the minimum amount of the balance of that particular month ? |

QUOTE(David83 @ Jan 31 2018, 09:03 PM) Great if this is true. I do not make withdrawals at all. Good to know that I get daily interest irrespective of the day that I deposit the money into the account. However , will still call up EPF tomorrow and confirm. Thanks. ๐ |

Guys an update about my predicament yesterday. So , the self contribution amount could only be seen using the iPhone app but not via the EPF official website. Need to scroll down all the way and it will be visible there. So this means, my funds were in fact already in before 1/2.
Hope this clarifies. Happy contributing! |
