Before you comment, learn why their investment only yield 5-7%. They invest majority in bonds. And bonds don't give you much good returns unless you are looking at junk bonds.

Out of interest, if we indeed get 7.5% for either the old or new EPF funds, would you go for BeeeeeNnnnnnnnnnnn in GE14 especially you have not voted for them before?

Just wondering how this will impact the Msians in general.

I, for one, will not be influenced by this on who to vote for. These are 2 different issues (EPF n vote).

Now my gut fear is the new one will be higher than the old one. That will really push many over the fence to the oppos side.

Islamic EPF is invested only in islamic investment instrument. So it is a bit restrictive. What I believe is, the gain/loss would not be distributed to the other side. It could have different divident or could be the same.. Time will tell.

Well for me..
If EPF were to give 7.5%
It won't change my decision of voting who..
The candidate is important... Previous all for the others side regardless who is the candidate (even if he comes from others state. Jumping from one state to another)....

So whoever reading this..
Your candidate & their track record is important...
Don't just show your bloody face every 5 years once...

Now my worries is..
After this excellent result @ 7.5% dividend.. The next year one below par?? I mean below 6% or still would hover around 7% still????

Shariah gives higher definitely sounds going to happen.

Think this way, launching shariah was in last year, basically, reallocating partly members' subscription into the fund. And, naturally, the reallocation came with reassigning some current EPF assets to the fund.

EPF hold some good assets, and some are bad.

So, do you believe in, EPF will assign those bad assets to Shariah. or picking the best assets for Shariah?

Such as, some good overseas properties, will go to Shariah, or ratains in convesional? Unless, that properties are non shariah complianced.

WHO MAKES THE DECISION? WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE GETS FROM SUH DECISION?

The answer is pretty clear.

If so, it is an act of sin, cheating, indeed, insulting God's wonderful investment model.

Hmn good point..
No fund managers would want their bad investment into their new products...

So basically.. We can expect The shariah EPF would be higher. That's the sad fact we needs to accept 😥

And what's up with the "God's wonderful investment model"??
Seems like u really into it..

Like I said many times previously.. There these people who thinks our Islamic products offering "don't really follow true Islamic principles"... Yes. I know we are famous in in Islamic products.. Many look high upon our achievement... U cannot fulfill everyone needs...

I wonder whether they need to consult and get the final blessing from Ah Jib on the x% as either good or bad numbers will cause some discussions.

Hope my wife is right, with GE14 just round the corner, she feels the % will be the same for the old and new EPF funds as not to upset many voters. Ha.

They should have paid more last year. What was underpaid the previous year was carried forward to this year.

There was also quite a lot of disposals by EPF on both properties and equities in the last quarter of last year.

Looking back, it was a good decision with the Dow in turmoil now. laugh.gif cool.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Well said, there's always a way to steer things to the direction you want isn't it?

Well, one would be able to justify that shariah fund is young and therefore needs a kickstart with some good assets.

Someone mentioned that EPF was supposed to pay out a certain % of earnings by law. They cannot pay lower than that.

Anyone?

2.5% min.

The EPF ensures that your savings are secure and receive reasonable dividends. In fact, it guarantees a minimum of 2.5 Per Cent Dividend annually. To ensure dividend payments, the EPF invests your contribution in approved financial instruments for optimum returns.
