Under current economic situation, I am happy with the return. It all depends on economic situation. If the FD rate is high and EPF did not give as high return as past years, then I am disappointed.

It is natural for people to have 2 kinds of response. Some happy some not happy. It is silly to call people this or that for reacting either way !

Im also not happy at all with 5.7%. I think its too low for its earnings comparing previous year results and dividends paid. A fair number would have been 6% as we cannot expect a repeat of the 6.4% as well. Yep, Im not unhappy and Im not satisfied either.

I'm happy with 5.7%, despite I had expected more.
EPF returns a better dividend than their counterpart in Singapore all the time. Singapore is a highly efficient operating country, so do their CPF, supposedly, CPF should earn more and return more to their members. However, EPF members who are not happy with the return rate, they have option to move out part of their allocation for trust or share. This post has been edited by kpfun: Feb 20 2017, 09:14 AM |

Cant compare macam ini la. I don't think so, because SGX is more efficient than Bursar. CPF has a better investing strategy and environment than EPF.This post has been edited by kpfun: Feb 20 2017, 09:19 AM |

QUOTE(patrickthissen @ Feb 19 2017, 01:53 PM) Based on EPF website, 1st time EPF withdrawal-account 2 to purchase house will direct credit to the person bank account right? If the person use the money for other purposes such as higher yield investment vehicle, renovation house etc, will EPF track the purpose of the money usage?? (Will they recall the money) QUOTE(MiKE7LIM @ Feb 19 2017, 02:07 PM) base on my assumption ... It will transfer to our bank ..the usage might not able to monitor by EPF bah..so many account holder in EPF I'm also planning to withdraw acc2 QUOTE(patrickthissen @ Feb 19 2017, 10:12 PM) Ya, I heard a lot peoples taking out EPF acc 2 for so called "house renovation". Yes, you may withdraw acc2 for house. you may use it for anything even for investment. when u buy a house, u will fork out ur own money to pay for the 10% downpayment right? once sign s&p, u will proceed to withdraw from ur acc2. so the money is actually to pay back ur 10% that you have paid earlier. so epf don't care if u gonna use it for whatever reason.Let's wait other members reply |

5.7% = disappointing * disappointing * disappointing
Why? If EPF really did not perform well in 2016, then fair game/%. But ... 2016 revenue is the highest so far. Yes, the fund size now is bigger etc etc and thus the div % is not linearly proportional to revenue but even then, it should not be that low. Something is not 100% right to me. Did a quick std deviation. 5.7% is sitting at -2 SD! So even maths says 5.7 is at the extreme end. I think I read from somewhere that EPF is carrying over a few billions to this year (will try to find that article). If that is the case, then for me 5.7% = disappointing * disappointing, i.e. not so disappointing though I prefer no carryover. P/S If anyone here knows where the carryover article is, please share here. Thanks. This post has been edited by plumberly: Feb 20 2017, 09:58 AM |

Some mention over 9bil which I think is quite high Scary thought came to mind just now. Even with 47 billion, we get only 5.7% How much do they need in the future to give 6+%? I will try to study the % with annual find size and see how much that has influenced the final %. So trying to get the yearly EPF fund size.
