It is natural for people to have 2 kinds of response. Some happy some not happy. It is silly to call people this or that for reacting either way ! laugh.gif

Under current economic situation, I am happy with the return. It all depends on economic situation. If the FD rate is high and EPF did not give as high return as past years, then I am disappointed. biggrin.gif

Im also not happy at all with 5.7%. I think its too low for its earnings comparing previous year results and dividends paid. A fair number would have been 6% as we cannot expect a repeat of the 6.4% as well. Yep, Im not unhappy and Im not satisfied either. shakehead.gif

I'm happy with 5.7%, despite I had expected more.

EPF returns a better dividend than their counterpart in Singapore all the time. Singapore is a highly efficient operating country, so do their CPF, supposedly, CPF should earn more and return more to their members.

However, EPF members who are not happy with the return rate, they have option to move out part of their allocation for trust or share.

I don't think so, because SGX is more efficient than Bursar. CPF has a better investing strategy and environment than EPF.

Based on EPF website, 1st time EPF withdrawal-account 2 to purchase house will direct credit to the person bank account right?

If the person use the money for other purposes such as higher yield investment vehicle, renovation house etc, will EPF track the purpose of the money usage?? (Will they recall the money)

QUOTE(MiKE7LIM @ Feb 19 2017, 02:07 PM)
base on my assumption ... It will transfer to our bank ..the usage might not able to monitor by EPF bah..so many account holder in EPF

I'm also planning to withdraw acc2  rclxm9.gif  hopefully someone can confirm this as well

QUOTE(patrickthissen @ Feb 19 2017, 10:12 PM)
Ya, I heard a lot peoples taking out EPF acc 2 for so called "house renovation".
Let's wait other members reply  biggrin.gif
*
Yes, you may withdraw acc2 for house. you may use it for anything even for investment. when u buy a house, u will fork out ur own money to pay for the 10% downpayment right? once sign s&p, u will proceed to withdraw from ur acc2. so the money is actually to pay back ur 10% that you have paid earlier. so epf don't care if u gonna use it for whatever reason.

5.7% = disappointing * disappointing * disappointing

Why?

If EPF really did not perform well in 2016, then fair game/%.

But ...

2016 revenue is the highest so far. Yes, the fund size now is bigger etc etc and thus the div % is not linearly proportional to revenue but even then, it should not be that low.

Something is not 100% right to me.

Did a quick std deviation. 5.7% is sitting at -2 SD! So even maths says 5.7 is at the extreme end.

I think I read from somewhere that EPF is carrying over a few billions to this year (will try to find that article). If that is the case, then for me 5.7% = disappointing * disappointing, i.e. not so disappointing though I prefer no carryover.

P/S If anyone here knows where the carryover article is, please share here. Thanks.

There is nothing you can do about it. If you are not able to withdraw everything out soon, this carryover will eventually benefit the members.

Probably anticipating a worse 2017. Trying to spread the dividends over these worse coming years

Question will be whether to receive 5.7 in 2016, 6 in 2017, 6.1 in 2018

OR 6.3 in 2016, 5.7 in 2017 and 5.5 in 2018 ? laugh.gif

SGD3K, chicken rice only SGD2.

Are you sure chicken Rice cost only SGD 2 ? When is the last time you been to Singapore eat chicken rice at
Kallang, Toa Payoh, Bukit Batok or Geylang? http://www.thebestsingapore.com/eat-and-dr...e-chicken-rice/ hmm.gif

Monetary Authority of Singapore objective is to hike SGD, to makes their IMPORT cheaper, as well as to control inflation. If your country
is EXPORTING a lot, lower currency exchg rate is preferred.

Singapore CPF 2.5% rclxub.gif ordinary account vs Malaysia EPF 5.7% , since many peoples here always like to compare.
CPF not doing well in ROI ?? Fixed rate also low in Singapore ..

Just less than a month ago. Woodlands MRT station to be precise. Heck even Toa Payoh Central is also that price (in January)

It's memang SG policy to put low rate for their CPF. FD is low in SG because their govt policy to make their citizen don't depend on FD.

3.5 is still cheaper than Msia.

Most retirement funds measure against inflation. SG inflation is pretty muted compared MYR inflation

Ahha, yes, I think I saw a "9" figure too. Do you still remember where is that article?

Scary thought came to mind just now.

Even with 47 billion, we get only 5.7%

How much do they need in the future to give 6+%?

I will try to study the % with annual find size and see how much that has influenced the final %. So trying to get the yearly EPF fund size.

The carry over of income is most probably to mitigate the projected 5% this year.
Each % is like how many billion?
