Some stocks have already corrected 25% from recent peak even though I am still expecting CI to reach 1520-1550 before stabilize.
Next week after CNY should be an interesting one. Either push up to take profit before GE crash or already starts the GE crash. We'll see. This post has been edited by yok70: Feb 8 2013, 02:25 AM |

Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) is believed to have raised its
concerns over the investment strategies of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), including its decision to hold a significant stake in Felda Global Ventures Holdings. The concerns were raised in its annual meeting held at EPF's headquarters. Meanwhile, another said said that the pension fund had agreed to pay out a dividend of above 6% for the year 2012. (Malaysian Reserve) Sigh! Our EPF money. |

QUOTE(felixmask @ Feb 9 2013, 12:24 PM) KLSE everything depends on GE timing.. i believe after GE, result out, maybe stocks will be at the rock bottom, time to buy those u think it's fundementally strong. I believe Airasia, maxis, digi all is a good buy. Telco never runs out of business, unless 1 day u don wan to use mobile phone already, which i believe malaysia also collapse liao la haha.. HSI i think now abit too high, tho china banking sector dropping like flies, i bought some ABC shares tho.. just wanted to go for their dividend only. I am more towards dividend based shares for play safe, then put some eggs into those smaller one. |

QUOTE(yok70 @ Feb 10 2013, 06:49 PM) Yok, from bloomberg data, it is about 1.3.But for me, uncle buffet once taught us, quote "you no need to know a women's age by telling whether she is old or not". I think these bank are quite cheap without even value them seriously. The most important is people understand the downward risk of bank. Beside all the Non performing loan (hardly to tell now, because banks tends doing good when economy good, but bad during people unable to pay loans) issues, Basel 3 will challenge some of the bank's reserve requirement because some of them are overstated due to unqualified capital such as preferred shared is included in their reserve calculation. Other issues such as convertible bond, while convertible at the premium of these stock certain % of price, will diluting the existing holder. Just make sure those those convertible are not issued price that are too low and with large quantity. Hope these help This post has been edited by foofoosasa: Feb 11 2013, 08:28 AM |

interesting article from "Focus Malaysia", a serious contender to "The Edge",
Curse of the skyscrapers Empire State Building (1953) - this iconic building was completed against the backdrop of a city and nation in the grip of the Great Depression Sears Tower (1974) - the oil shocks that rocked the US and the dropping of the greenback's peg to gold were marked by the completion of the Sears Tower Petronas Twin Tower (1997) - The Asian financial crisis was heralded by the completion of Malaysia's Petronas Towers Taipei 101 Taiwan (2004) - the building stood tall but Taiwan followed Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore into recession and saw the end of the technology bubble Burj Khalifa Dubai (2009) - the current tallest building was completed just before the dramatic crash that nearly bankrupted the tiny emirate The Shard (2012) - it was completed just in time to witness the worsening of the eurozone debt crisis Freedom Tower (2013) -the completion of the World Trade Center's replacement will come smack between the US fiscal cliff and the debt ceiling as the world's biggest economy slides towards an impending recession Menara Wawasan (Malaysia) - expected completion in 2015 ....will a recession follows ???? QUOTE(foofoosasa @ Feb 11 2013, 08:28 AM) Yok, from bloomberg data, it is about 1.3. Thanks for your info and comments. But for me, uncle buffet once taught us, quote "you no need to know a women's age by telling whether she is old or not". Hope these help |

But then if complete in 2015 or 2016, a financial crisis will be imminent. Wise people always tell me the cycle repeats every 10 years, so 1998 - 2008/09 - 2018/19 |

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Feb 9 2013, 01:44 PM) KLSE everything depends on GE timing.. i believe after GE, result out, maybe stocks will be at the rock bottom, time to buy those u think it's fundementally strong. I agreed with have bro ben3003 mentioned. Telco business is much more stable compare to others. My opinion here, try to choose shares which related with politician or government link. Anyhow i did support and brought AirAsia. Everyone can fly.... |

Bought at 0.18.
Now in a dilemma to sell for capital gain (if it goes 0.21-0.25 next week) OR hold for this unverified 'news' OR sell and buy again? Don't know to recommend buy or not. T.A. looks good to me (my T.A. basic only so....). This post has been edited by Eugene91: Feb 15 2013, 11:40 PM |

the problem is how voters know or decide not to give 2/3 majority? In which area we need to vote for party A or B?
Is more a about 2 parties system, if the ruling party have 2/3 majority, and implement rubbish policies, then we need to voted them out in the next election. They need to listen to majority of rakyat, and implement policy for the best of rakyat, not for own party. |

i think pkr is not ready to form the fed gov yet based on the intra-coalition issues
but it can serve as a counter check to deny bn of 2/3 majority just my 2 cents |

Most of the voters now assume BN would win due to electoral roll revelations, Sabah RCI etc. So, it is not hard to guess how the voters would vote. So they say, a few more opposition won't hurt such BN is still the government.

If no coalition wins 2/3 majority, it could be difficult for the government for implement new policies - until BN & PKR learn to work together.
The problem in Malaysia is that all politicians must toe the party line. By comparison, their American counterparts have a lot more freedom. For example, former President Bush was pro-Big Oils, but California, under Governor Arnold, continued to push for green energy. Both Bush and Arnold were Republicans. |

I agree. The ruling party hopes to remain status quo, having the freedom to do whatever it likes. Unfortunately, this is the age of the internet where it is difficult to hide scandals. Most people now are aware of what is actually happening. But, old habits die hard. Politicians find their habits hard to change.
Years back, the Middle East with its rich oil wealth struck me as a very wealthy region. Today, after what happened in Egypt, I realize that the wealth is in the hands of a few with lots of hungry people that is not well looked after the government. |

If the government takes the initiative to close the income gap, then economic prosperity would emerge. But all we heard is lip service. ..."high income nation"... But how to achieve this when trade unions fighting for a decent wage have their leaders sacked by the GLC. Mind you, the CEO of GLCs are appointed by the government. If you look at the number of members of the unions in the GLCs alone, they could easily be the king maker.
I am seeing the scenario of a hung Parliament. Thus investment in the stockmarket is only for the long term. |

Might limit the number of special draws for the number forecast operators (NFO). Might impose entrance fee to Genting casino for local citizens (just like how Singapore is doing now). But anyway, I think BN will win. It's difficult to see how BN will lose after all the tricks they have used to buy votes. - all the 1 programmes (Kar1sma, pr1ma, br1m, bl1n ....) - the legalising of the illegal foreign workers, and implementation of the minimum wage. (this, i think is the secret weapon to counter the Chinese votes.) In 2008, there were more unhappy people due to the sudden petrol price hike. This directly impact their wallet and people could clearly see it hurting their lives. Hence the anger and resentment towards the BN government, and this was reflected in the higher votes for opposition. This time, I think it's the prices of housing that has gone up sky high and people could not afford housing. But this number of people is much lower than the 2008 number of unhappy people. |

Honestly, BN or PKR win... Malaysia will still lag behind versus our neighbours.
PKR cannot even get their understanding and come to agreement amongst themselves (ie. the Allah issue, banning hairdressers, etc). Then how to come to agreement on more important national policies that will dictate the growth of the population, economy? Even before winning the federal government already start fighting for the post to become Prime Minister. BN is no better either. Protecting companies (cronies?) at the expense of the rakyat. (high national car price >> rakyat spend more money on car installment instead of spending money on quality food etc), the various flip-flop policies and not thorough thinking (most recent being the RM200 rebate for smartphones costs less than RM500, then weeks later removed the cap), a disaster on our education system... just to name a few. We just need a 2 parties system, to check and balance. BN or PR, maybe not a good government in certain area, but with only 1 party to control everything, is definitely worst off.
That's why corruption is getting worst, when you are in power for such a long period. Project IC, cowgate,PKFZ..the list is getting longer. Is time the clean up, for a better future for our children. We just cannot be selfish and just think of our stocks. Your children is the best investment and you have a choice of how to secure their future. |

Choose the PKR or BeeN is like you buying something............. PKR - the "item" is cheap because less in corruption, you pay lesser tax/fees. But the "item" you get may not useful as their mgmt service is short of knowledge and experience. The DAP & PAS cant even agree on the Islamic issue. So, cheap thing but no good BeeN - You need pay higher tax, part for the corruption. But most of the time the "item" is better. They able deliver improvement to country, just the corruption pulling back many of us. So, good thing but no cheap This post has been edited by StupidGuyPlayComp: Feb 18 2013, 02:39 PM |

The reality is they can't even decide on how to allocate the posts. The coalition is toooooo fragile!! But I do hope they can continue to deny the gov of a landslide victory You see what happen in Perak once PKR won the state..............DAP and PAS arguing, both submit the candidate(menteri besar) to Sultan, end up the Sultan only choose PAS. |

imo, who ever wins the election also we have opportunity to profit from it
before election short market. after election, if BN wins, buy all GLC or long market. if opposition wins, short market. this is my opinion only. buy/sell at your own risk |

I think a lot of ppl warn about the debt in Malaysia is because over the last 8 years, our debt increases drastically. We are now in over 50%, while Singapore is close to 100% also no issue. So, I believe the problem with Malaysia is because we accumulate debt drastically over the last decade rather than over the whole period of establishment. And our debt can only go up due to the high number of civil servants that we have. Even if no corruption occurs, it just a matter of time before we go bankrupt. Corruption only accelerate it.

Funny that many foreign investors asked CIMB why now still have selling pressure since FF already low and GE news already at the end.
They asked who is selling?? CIMB said local institutional funds loh. (I bet they laugh and still blur blur wondering why why why! What a joke! It seems this is uncommon in world market. Attached File(s)

QUOTE(StupidGuyPlayComp @ Feb 19 2013, 02:36 PM) Malaysia’s external debt last year stood at RM257.2 billion, Prime Minister cum Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said. “The national debt that encompasses the Federal Government external debt, Non-Financial Public Enterprise and private sector is 30.2 per cent from the Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” he said, adding that the government’s total debt that comprised external and internal sources, was RM456.1 billion or 53.5 per cent from the GDP, as end of last year. More than half of Malaysia's debt is external, the other half is internal. Overall already >50% GDP. However still lower than all those problem country which debt >100%. For 2013 the debt to GDP ratio is expect to surpass 60%, and half is external... This post has been edited by gark: Feb 19 2013, 05:08 PM |

QUOTE(StupidGuyPlayComp @ Feb 19 2013, 05:11 PM) well, this depends on short term or long term. Very hard to predict since we really dunno how PKR does if really let them manage the entire country. We already sees lots of frustration and contradiction between PAS and Rocket. But then, if they end up manage it well (such as Penang), the country may boost into a new era and perhaps index shoot to 3000 also possible! |

QUOTE(jasontoh @ Feb 19 2013, 03:33 PM) I think a lot of ppl warn about the debt in Malaysia is because over the last 8 years, our debt increases drastically. Singapore is close to 100%? Really?? |

Never heard of Singapore debt close to 100%. You need to back it up with facts. They have more than SGD200 billion in reserves, strong currency and robust economy.
We simply cannot compare with them, any downturn will hit us hard compare to Singapore. Our debt is serious issue, because we rakyat going to pay for it, not petronas. |

US they basically sell their debt to ppl, ask who wan to buy their debt, they need the money to build the nation further, but they have the GDP to pay, i believe no problem. |

I don't know about Singapore's public debt as well, until previously there is one interactive page on this statistic, provided by a LYN-er, only make me aware of this. The debt is easily explained and there shouldn’t be any reason to panic yet…The bulk of the Government debt are in the form of security bonds called Singapore Government Securities and the Central Provident Fund Board (CPF) is the main holder of these bonds. Hence we can say that Singapore Government do not really owe other countries or private entities any debt but they owe CPF quite a substantial amount of money. Why then, does the Government need to borrow so much money from CPF? The answer is an ingenious plan by the Government to create a money flow cycle to fund public housing. CPF was created as a pension funds that belongs to the contributors (Singaporean & PRs) and not the Government. In order for the Government to use the fund in CPF, they have to ‘borrow’ from it. The houses were then sold to the people at a comfortable rate to repay the debt and interest owed to CPF board. The cycle continues to present day and as the Government spends more on public housing, it borrows more from CPF and that explains the high national debt owed domestically and not externally. We can now see that the huge Government debt is no cause for alarm. However, what the Government should do better is communication. Without explaining the details of the debt, people – including the good economics professor from China’s “BeiDa” – would not know the intricate details of the funding model for our public housing project and would therefore be misguided by statistics & confused. |

Parliament has to be dissolved this week if the general election is to be held in
Mar. Sources said it was now likely that the 13th GE will be held in Apr instead, even though Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was very keen to have everything "done and dusted" by the end of Mar. Three important things are still ongoing and would need a week or two to complete before Najib can even see the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for his consent to dissolve Parliament, said a party official. He identified the three incomplete matters as the BN manifesto, candidates' list and general preparation of the coalition. It is learnt that there would be several BN manifestos for this election: the main one for the whole country, one for women and the other for the young. Several crucial states, especially the ones BN is trying to recapture, would also have their own proposal which have yet to get approval from Najib. As for the candidates' list, Najib's headache seem to be the choice of the proposed mentris besar for Kedah and Selangor - two states that BN is keenest to recapture. Daybreak Malaysia February 20, 2013 5 The BN headquarters has only just started issuing banners, bunting, computers and other infrastructure support this week and this is supposed to go on for at least two weeks for the items to get to the grassroots level. I found out that many many planters recently announces their plan of increasing production etc.
However, none of them speak about increase earnings. Quite a joke. |

Hi guys,
recently I am looking at Dialog and today I read few research report by few houses. Most of the researcher used DCF with diff WACC. Just wondering how do they determined the WACC and where do they obtain the CF for each Centralised Terminal Facilties(CTF). Since each terminal Cash Flow are not provided publicly and each research house report has diff CF for the same CTF. Hence I am curious how these analyst figure out each terminal Cash flow then. Pls refer to the attachment for the screenshot. Maybank report: Kertih CTF: WACC - 10.5% Amresearch report: Kertih CTF: WACC - 7% RHB report: Kertih CTF: WACC - 7.2% OSK report: Kertih CTF: WACC - 6% Anyone here und how they derived the Value for each CTF? That why I never trust any research valuation. Pretty bullshit in my opinion. DCF = CF / (1 + wacc) etc etc etc They simply adjust wacc to get what they want. Pretty much the same I think, just they back by some "prove" ( pretty bad prove). Probably put in scenario cast like in worst, best or normal etc etc and then estimate the cash flow based on the past year data. Fancy & Complicated.DCF = CF / (1 + wacc) etc etc etc They simply adjust wacc to get what they want. CF part Also simply come out with an amount to get the DCF they wanted? And their value often get adjust by market sentiments too. |

I spotted some stock with good dividend yield (>6%), however due to election fear & investors opt to have more cash, they are left unattended.
To name a few, Luxchem, Zhulian, Tambun, Maxis, Wellcal, Bstead Reits price on the other hand, standing firm with not much discount. |

QUOTE(panasonic88 @ Feb 21 2013, 03:10 PM) Rough calculate At 6.x% net yield, slightly better than EPF. At RM1.08, is getting 7% yield. Do you personally prefer Reits that constantly add in / acquire new assets into their portfolio (like Axreit/Sunreit) or you prefer the other way? 2x more than FD. The more important is the portfolio asset especially the asset location. If adding in so so property with high vacancy one, then no good already. Having said that, constantly add in could mean potential higher distribution due to leveraging effect. So far Axreit is the one manage to add in more properties without shareholder need to fork out a single cent while without increase the borrowing ratio, this is ideal scenario. If add in more properties, while shareholders need to fork out money to subscribe right issue one, then no good (from my perspective). Quality of asset is very important that determine the reit is suit to long term holding or not. |
