KLSE everything depends on GE timing.. i believe after GE, result out, maybe stocks will be at the rock bottom, time to buy those u think it's fundementally strong. I believe Airasia, maxis, digi all is a good buy. Telco never runs out of business, unless 1 day u don wan to use mobile phone already, which i believe malaysia also collapse liao la haha.. HSI i think now abit too high, tho china banking sector dropping like flies, i bought some ABC shares tho.. just wanted to go for their dividend only. I am more towards dividend based shares for play safe, then put some eggs into those smaller one.

For Maxis, what price are we looking at (expecting) to fall till after GE.

Hi guys, if I were to enter into Maxis now at 6.38. Assuming the dividends stays at 40cent in FY2013, I would yield 6%, which is somewhat around REIT return.

Further more, HLB value that it would go to around 7.30. Should I buy in now, or wait for GE?

BTW, Maxis is going to spend money building 4G LTE network.

So we might be looking at capital appreciation in short term, decreasing DPS in near future, and then back to normal DPS after the project maybe? smile.gif

Wouldn't mind entering for the capital appreciation. Enlighten me here bro. Do you think the GE would impact stock like Maxis that much? Is there a reason for me to wait?

Hi takoc,

I’m sharing my view and it may different with other sifu with other explanation.

When a company offers a good Dividend, didn’t means with will shoot up the price double in short year.  We have to look the company revenue (EPS) sustainable growth to give such dividend. Telco is good business as only we don’t see a sharp increase of revenue as we know m’sia mobile penetration already 100%. Technology never stop changing, it juz matter more new product and consumer willing to pay for the product.

My 2nd point is holding power of investor- how long you want from Maxis, like seeing the children growth. As long the company is managing well and good governance there no reason the child don’t grow up in proper way.

My 3rd point is sentimental and setting goal ; when chasing high, whatever go up will go down then we must look what the purpose holding maxis as speculation or long term investor. Set your duration or exit price, either chase higher get ready of risk to go down; else you wait when go down and see it go up. For me I don’t like to chase high for accumulation becoz I believe the higher I paying the likelihood the stock may go down as a risk. My average price I collected for maxis rm5.43 around 3000 shares. I will collecting more juz matter waiting the uncertainty will happen after GE then my holding power is until retire(another 30yr).

Forgive me if my points are different or disagreement, I willing listen any sifu comment.
By the way what price you bought and what you’re expecting from maxis stock?

I picked up 5000 averagely at 5.60. Thinking whether I should collect more. Looking at short term capital appreciation due to the project.

What's holding back is the high borrowing cost. It's almost 6x of their current cash. Even if they are not distributing that much dividend, there is still a risk of that.

I think for dividend chaser, usually the first round they buy will definitely not enough to cover the stock price adjustment after that. Unless you buy way before that, else, if you buy when the dividend already announced, you already lose time + money. Back to the question on the PE/PEG back then, I can say, I forgot, as I did not keep track on the counter anymore, but as long as it is growing at the rate of about 15%, I don't see the problem to continue buying. What I just meant to say is not everyone buy Dlady for dividend purposes. If you track back historically the div yield for Dlady is not really high somewhere near 2-3% only. They might be cheering for dividend, not because they aim for the dividend, but it's because to them dividend is a bonus. Anyway people won't be chasing the stock till 49 purely just the div. If we take out the special div, the div yield at the price of 49 would be as low as 2%. Why you want at 2% div stocks when there are better div yield stocks?

So u are just trying to say that if one hold dividend stock for short term it doesn't matter what's the price because the stock would recorrect itself after dividend payout. Am I right? *not taking into consideration other information like new tenants, new projects rtc etc etc*

I usually buy after dividend payout.

My POV. Most people will buy them before dividend payout resulting in price shooting up. So I would't say it doesn't make sense. If you believe that the dividend payout will not exceed the price difference, so I guess it make sense that you buy after dividend payout.
