I'm not sure for 408T, but for direct injection engine, be sure to decarbo the valves every 40K KM. I'm talking abt real decarbo, not those seafoam, threebond stuff. They work, but not satisfactory.
Worst is "Pour in fuel tank" stuff also will not decarbo the valves because of Direct Injection system. Just youtube to know more about DI engine

For the bottom picture (in the spoiler)
The picture on the left is an engine previously vigorously treated with 4 bottles of Seafoam, 3 bottles of Threebond and previously admitted to SC(mileage 48.4k) to decarbo with 2 bottles of Peugeot Valve cleaner....Picture shown carbon build up after all the chemical cleaning which does not help at all.
Picture on the right is after decarbo without top overhaul and dismantle the engine. Should take about 4-5 hours.

pictures are from Peugeot 308 Club of Malaysia

But since all 408T are still new, later stage when you want a decarbo can join FB Peugeot 308 Club of Malaysia and get in touch with Pugs Tkl

Just sharing information icon_rolleyes.gif

Good info. How much does it cost to properly decarbonize an engine?

Depends on the mileage, I cannot say the price because I'm not related to him

Can join FaceBook Peugeot 308 Club of Malaysia to know more....the price and other discussion about it is openly displayed there..

or just search for "Pugs Tkl" in facebook.

If you dismantle the engine to do the decarbo, will it void the warranty?

Don't they have 5 years warranty? I don't think it would really matter until after year 5, which is the same for KIA and VW and any other marque that offers 5 years warranty.
Im sure u know that warranties cover defects not normal wear & tear. Its different if you have a 5 year service & maintenance package.

I'm not sure of the finer details of his decarbo procedures....you can check it out with him , search for "Pugs Tkl" in facebook.

But one thing I know is there wont be any top overhaul involved.

it is an early speculative photoshop of the 407 replacement. at that time nobody knew that the 508 would replace the 407/607 as peugeot's flagship model and the 408 will just continue the '4' series name but no longer be the flagship model for peugeot.

so, that picture is outdated and has no significance anymore. it is afterall, just a photoshop creation and not a real car. hope it clarifies.

Hi lowpro

Not sure if u have any idea why after Peugeot changed its logo in year 2010, the current batch of 207, 3008, 5008 and 408 still has the old logo at front and rear (old logo means the one with lion sticking its tongue out) and only at the steering and wheels you will find the new current logo (lion with no tongue). Only the new 308 and 508 has new logo used everywhere.

Feel like a bit of cheat by Peugeot to dump stock of old logos like that : (

Below is the old and new logo difference

actually, you're 100% correct. they had excess stock of old lions. eventually, the new lions will find their way to the cars in the showrooms. but with peugeot, the importers usually don't have much of a say in these matters.

it is on the 508 simply because they can't have the old logo on their new flagship model and the new 308fl was introduced after the new logo was launched so they had to develop the new logo for it which is much better than trying to slap an old logo on a newly facelifted model. the older cars have no facelift so they make do with the older logos till the stock run out. but in latin america and the recently facelifted 408 in china, they already use the new logo for the 408. for that, unfortunately, i have no explanation. maybe we will get the facelift when production ramps up for the aussie and nz markets.

i think their objective at this critical point in time is the survival of their business. almost everything else will seem secondary to them already.
