dear all 408 bros, so far is ur 408 got any minor or small problem?
I heard my SA said 408 is much more stable then 207, so far no any big compliant about this model, maybe only few. not like 207, all come in different complaint

mine is having the auto lighting and auto wiping problem, already sent back for few times, the problems didn't soft but come back with lot's of scratches

207 got what problems? Mind sharing ?

I also wonder what big problem with the 207......they dun call the 207 "camel" for nothing...its tahan lasak car

this is correct, the 408 has wider tracks and a longer wheelbase which gives it a more pliant ride compared to the 207. it is in a bigger segment anyway. that said, for what it is, the 207 is pretty competent. but with that car, it is all a bit of luck. many have trouble free cars while some have horrors on their hands but even how horrible also, that car wont tell you that it has some engine fault that needs stoppage on the road and need towing. so, in a way, it does have a good reputation as a camel, it may be bumpy (solved by lowering the front springs - for older cars. new cars all come with lowered suspension already), but in the end, it won't let you down.

now my 207 is having the auto lighting problem, the auto system is not function. on the inform screen showing "auto lighting fault"
but before i send it back for the 1st service (2.5k service) my car auto system was ok, auto lighting function well. only the auto wiping some minor problem, after they tried to fix it but they didn't then the auto lighting can't function anymore.

below are my car problems tat before i sent my car back to the first 2.5k service:

1. some abnormal knocking noise when driving
2. alignment not even
3. auto wiping is not auto functioning , it have to reset it manually every time, (but at least it still can work, better then now, now is the worst T_T)
4. stirring is supper hard, but when speed above 90/km it become supper light, it will easily self turn to a side if you don't hold the stirring properly. *to me this is very dangerous O_O"
5. car 'shakes'(i dunno whats the correct terms) very serious when above 100/km
6. the rear n back windscreen is totally blur, can't see through during at night, day time can see a bit but blur. i sent to car wash but the guy try to wipe it but he said in this condition need to do polish, cost about RM300+
7. wiper can't wipe smoothly (this is still happen now)

and another 2 more issues but can't remember at the moment xD

the SA (service adviser) told me that this model (207) all sending back with different issue...

408 so far so good, nothing big problem

My dad also using 207, so far no complains other than the super slow radio player...but my dad never use all those Auto gimmick...

Not a major issue or defect but has anyone of you notice the center display unit showing 'Economy Mode Active'? It happened on my ride last weekend; when I turned the key to 'standby' before actualy starting the engine, it shows the 'eco mode' thing. Normally, it only display 'Automatic Door Locking Activated', but rather than displaying this, it display the 'eco mode' only. It only happened for 2 days and in that 2 days, my car was parked in car porch, not moving anywhere. After I brought the car for driving, only then the 'eco mode' isn't present anymore and the 'auto door locking' display is back on display.

Any explanation? Has it detect my previous driving style and decided to adapt eco mode but when I drove aggressively, it has switch back to aggressive mode? The only new things I've done prior to that happening is washing the car by myself and pumping BHP instead of Caltex.

The Economy Mode is not that kind of fuel save mode. Its kind of auto shut down certain function after you turn off your engine to prevent battery killed, such as headlamp, wiper etc. For more details you can refer to user manual page 122.

normally it could mean a few things. as with peugeot, the engineers have a limited command of english so for example, engine fault could mean a depollution issue, could mean the spark plugs need changing, the engine oil is not good, your timing has gone a little off etc. anything that is connected to the engine usually induces the 'engine fault' sign coming up.

so in the case of 'economy mode active', it could have many meanings. as far as i know, it could mean, the alternator doesn't have enough time to charge up your battery properly. the remedy for this is to go for a long drive to have it charged up. the other means that the battery is weak and needs your attention. it could also mean you left your doors open for far too long or left your radio or lights on without the engine started and the battery just got weaker (drained) because of that. usually, you just need to go for a longer drive to charge up the battery. otherwise, it could mean a replacement battery or worse still, the alternator is about to die (which i don't expect in your newish cars).

a note though, leaving your car doors open for a period of time just to air the cabin uses the battery up and if engine is not started to let the alternator charge, drains the battery. this is because the car systems are switched to 'on' mode anticipating a start up. so, having systems on but alternator not running and charging, also induces the message on your mfd.

hi dear 408 owners,I am considering the 308t and 408t as my first conti car.So far from this thread,i haven seen any major complaint about the 408 except for minor problems.Do you guys know anything about the latest 308t 6 speed having any major problem?I saw from autoworld owner complaining about wee wee wee noise coming from the engine.Cheers!

the 408T has a newer engine with many upgrades (do spend some time referring to back pages to read about the changes posted by forumers here) that should make the car a bit more easy to own and upkeep. that being said, it is not all 6-speed 308T that have issues.

1~5, sounds very dangerous to me, problem already solved?

for 6~7, u can try to use those automotive glass cleaner which is available in jusco/tesco

3. become worst, plus they made more problems, affected auto lighting fault ,
4. slightly better
5. slightly better, but i haven't bring my car to test drive yet, so far only till about 120km/h

You should get "ECO MODE" upon inserting your key only when you have done something that drains the car battery while the car is not started, e.g. switch on the radio, turn on the wiper, or simply lock/unlock the car door many times. If you simply park your car for couple days without touching it, "ECO MODE" should not come so easily. Just be careful as it can be an early sign of battery dying.
