2. Yes, 6k discount. Being told by SA today last day to get 6k discount for 508T. Still too much for me to spend on a car

Overall to me, 508 is a better car, just that i can only afford 408 at the moment..Felt 508 under power, where having no such with 408 driving..i guess the 508 bodyweight does make the difference

When you buy a car you have to look beyond the monthly installment and petrol.

You also need to budget for regular maintenance and also have spare cash for unplanned maintenance.

This is especially true when buying a European brand car.

Do you also have a backup car?

I'm not sure for 408T, but for direct injection engine, be sure to decarbo the valves every 40K KM. I'm talking abt real decarbo, not those seafoam, threebond  stuff. They work, but not satisfactory.
Worst is "Pour in fuel tank" stuff also will not decarbo the valves because of Direct Injection system. Just youtube to know more about DI engine

For the bottom picture (in the spoiler)
The picture on the left is an engine previously vigorously treated with 4 bottles of Seafoam, 3 bottles of Threebond and previously admitted to SC(mileage 48.4k) to decarbo with 2 bottles of Peugeot Valve cleaner....Picture shown carbon build up after all the chemical cleaning which does not help at all.
Picture on the right is after decarbo without top overhaul and dismantle the engine. Should take about 4-5 hours.

pictures are from Peugeot 308 Club of Malaysia

But since all 408T are still new, later stage when you want a decarbo can join FB Peugeot 308 Club of Malaysia and get in touch with Pugs Tkl

Just sharing information  icon_rolleyes.gif

It is strange how this discount is derived by Peugeot. When I was there at the 3S (claimed 4S but more like 4S ready) centre last week 15th Feb. I was told the discount for 3008 is RM5k.... so 8k for 408, 6k for 508? It does not coincides with price level of the models.

I think the step up financing makes ownership easier but it only effectively defers higher cost at the later years
So really it is a personal choice. For me 8k discount now worths more because the value of money is really depreciating fast judging from the inflation that has gone crazy nowadays and is projected to continue that way

Peugeot has overstocked 408.
Higher discounts to clear it.

I'd guess, greater discount for slower moving models. We do see a lot more 508s than 408s on the road. I could afford the 508,but chose the 408 for 2 reasons. I did a lot of research before buying.

1st reason for 408 choice was the mods brought on the Prince to improve reliability.
2nd I was totally unhappy the way NAZA trashed 508 owners over GPS issue.

But wouldn't the 508 have more mods since it's actually sold in Europe, China, and everywhere else except in US/Canada while the 408 is sold everywhere except Europe and US/Canada to the best of my knowledge.

Isn't it usually the following? More places sold = higher volume product = more aftermarket mods?

Anyway, here's something interesting from Peugeot Brasil for the 408 limited. Look at the center console, it's touchscreen and it actually looks pretty damn sleek. And look at the badge, the font design looks very elegant, I'd admit it's also actually quite nice to look at.

After doing a lot of research n study, finally i put booking for the Pug 408T white to replace my satria neo cps...already pay the d/p and now waiting for a nice reg number rclxms.gif

This thread and the old thread really help me in making the decision to pick my new car..i would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all forumer that contribute in this two thread. I learn a lot from all your post, esp on the experience owning a pug notworthy.gif

I bought the car from the only distributor here in Kota Kinabalu (Angkatan Hebat) and manage to get the old version which is without the aero kit, i dun think i'll pay extra for that kind of bodykit. Hopefully the car is in a good shape and not much problem.

As for suggestion since this group is growing, i hope TS can put more info on the 1st page such as the common problem faced by owner and whether it can be solve or not, place to go to solve the problem, checklist on getting new car rolleyes.gif , tips/tricks for the car such as as resetting gearbox by turn off the car and step on pedal for 15s, wind up all window using remote etc. and other info that is helpful
take preve thread as examples --> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2671435.

By doing this hopefully it will attract more ppl and reduce ppl from asking the same questions and can be a guide to ppl before going for service etc..

Again, thanks to all of u and wish me luck for my new car smile.gif
