Pretty much what I suspected. They use those original batteries from France. I think it's the weather that's killing the battery.

So, fully.imported car may not be a good thing too.albert from peugeot france. First batch of 408 may not be fully assembled in MY.

Can we see the brand without opening any cover?

Btw, m now at sierraglow waiting my car to be pampered..mr choong agreed to touch up my car for the coating I did few months back. Happy with his customer service. Will monitor the coating effect for few months from now.

Jus checked, cant c the brand of the battery installed as it is fully covered. A little worry as car has been running for 6minths at 14500km so far.
*
Why not just drop in to any SC saying I worry about my battery, can check what brand and how healthy , it is , just say you have 3 frens that has incidents of battery just went dead after 10,000 km.

If they say u need to pay for labour, you argue back u are trying to save them a battery. Any way under warranty period mah.

I came back to SC before on two other occasions asking them to check the ventilation system as i can faintky smell the far fume from outside, they check and tightened something and It was FOC.

Another occasion, I have sent back the car due to squeky door, and they fix it also FOC

Oh my god.. I got my Pug in Oct 2012, very likely the same batch with EnergyAnalyst. Now oledi clocked slightly more than 10,000km.

Need to find one day to go fix the below:-
1) Steering whirling sound when making turning
2) to check the internal ventilation system - outside smell still can flows in
3) to request them to change the battery?

Thinking back hard if any sign of weak bat was showing, i can only think of 2 occasions of small oddities

There was 1 time the car did not unlock when i press the unlock button, but I thought it was just me pointing the key remote wrong way, that happen may be a week or two back

2nd time , when i start ignition in the morning without pressing the accelerator, it did not ignite , but doing it again shortly, it started like normal, that happened few days before my car broke down

But I could be paranoid now because things behave pretty normal aside those 2 occasions, to be safe may be watch out for these tell tell signs?

Also do what SKYjack suggest, run your car for a 1 hour straight trip on highways, but then again I was driving up to Ipoh to n fo on 1st march, so who knows ?

There isn't any sure way you can tell, short of buying a voltage stabilizer with a readout display.

As long as you run your car everyday, the battery should charge itself.

Chalk it up to bad luck la. As long as you have warranty covering your car issues, then it should be fine. No point worrying about something that you can't prevent.

Hi Prody,

Mind sharing what is the mileage /time length of owneship when that happened? first time bat need change?

I was told my 2.0 NA is ready to be collected, with bat changed and installed, all system tested. Nego with the service manager who promise me to give RM50 discount for labour service for next 20k km service (but no black n white voucher, just recorded somewhere ,in their sytem perhaps?

Ground for asking:

Car bought end Sep 2012 (just over 5 months), mileage just over 10,000 km (service 10k km just 3 weeks back), so how can they missed it in the 1ok km service if the bat health was weak.

Need to take cab to collect car (no complimentary pick up from office to SC)

Yours also NA, I would not expect this to happen to NA, as battery drainage /lifespan should hold better compare to Turbo

The Serv Manager said, what is replaced is a newer version better battery, I will see it to believe it when I am there to collect my car after lunch
*
Battery life span for turbo car are even worst. I remember on my comment in previous thread. Last November, I went for 10k service @ Balakong which due 6month where my mileage are only 6600. Service advisor suggest me to change the battery since its critically low.

There even no sign or indicator for that before I drive to SC. There is a service charge for check and replace battery of RM180 (FOC since its still in warranty).

They replace with DELKOR DIN60L (worth RM455). Now my mileage only 12600. Im going back for 17000 service soon and have to make sure the battery is in good condition. Warranty 1 year for battery are valid following the 1st battery, not the 2nd replaced. Get them to replace again for free if baterry nearly "kong"

I was about to say don't sweat la bro, your balik kampong run will charge up the battery. But then EnergyAnalyst did the Ipoh run and his battery still died rclxub.gif I think it's our heat effecting the matsalleh battery la. Since you're covered by warranty, don't worry la!

Not the warranty, the inconvenience is the problem.

Mainly city driver yes, but my daily morning run takes more than an hour.
Now I wonder if my USB drive which is always connected somehow can drain the battery. smile.gif
*
After I read your post, I check my USB drive when reach home this evening. I switched off the engine and open the centre console to check my USB. I observed from outside and my USB drive still lighted. So I took it off.

2 hours later when I try to start the engine, it won't start. Wipers move half way n all light indicators went off. So, sudah kena lah..

Called toll free number and the guy told me that the battery in Cheras area is out of stock. So I have to wait until tomorrow morning for the battery to be replaced. They will send from Balakong SC. Luckily it happened at my house.

I bought mine in June 2012 and my mileage is 17K. Long distance travel once a month to my hometown in Labis. The rest, city driving.

Now I regret taken out my USB drive. Should leave it there. So, early owners, brace yourself..

I also thot that my battery is in good condition. No indicators at all that it will be dead after 7 months of usage. I always try to follow all tips shared in this forum. Always let the engine idle for 1-2 minutes and wait untill the fan stop before I switch off the engine each time I reached my destination. So that the fan will not run on battery. But, sudah mau kena, what to do..

I try to accept this fact and justify it with the good points of this car especially its turbo power. It's good handling and the confidence when overtaking cars at Tangkak - Segamat stretch during my monthly trip to my hometown, compensate most of negative points of this car.. biggrin.gif
