The other day my car couldn't start.

Immediately suspected battery, there was not even enough power left to lock the car. At some point I did manage to unlock the booth.
Lucky it happened at home.

Anyway, car got towed to nearest service centre, battery was replaced within a day.

How old is your car? Are you a city driver mainly and seldom do long runs?Greatest battery drainage is during start ups. Wondering if daily multiple start ups coupled with insufficient charge periods due to mainly city drives is the cause of short battery life.

IMO,to keep our Lion healthy, good to unleash her once a week at least for an hour. Good for the engine, good for the battery! Just my 2cents worth.

It happened to my 408 too on Monday.. The battery went bad at 13K (6 months) on mileage without indications. Called the Peugeot road side assistance and they arrange for battery replacement on the spot, no need towing.

According to the technician, it was due to the batch of battery used in our car (Yokohama). They have changed it to Delco battery where they claimed much better and no complain so far.

Great stuff!, I will later check if 'Move over Yoko, here comes Delco' is the same method applied in my case

Crap, I called my SA and I request to settle my car loan now, then he say he will pay when the due date comes. Then I warn him that the due date is 10th every month and I do not want to pay both sides. Then he say dont worry, he will pay. Grrrrr. I really want to go to bash this fella

Car bought end Sep 2012 (just over 5 months), mileage just over 10,000 km (service 10k km just 3 weeks back), so how can they missed it in the 1ok km service if the bat health was weak.

Need to take cab to collect car (no complimentary pick up from office to SC)

Yours also NA, I would not expect this to happen to NA, as battery drainage /lifespan should hold better compare to Turbo

The Serv Manager said, what is replaced is a newer version better battery, I will see it to believe it when I am there to collect my car after lunch

It's not an unusual problem, even my friend's 3008 encountered the same issue as you. Glenmarie SC gave him RM80 discount voucher for his troubles, which isn't bad at all. Where did you get your car fixed? Perhaps the next time you should go Glenmarie instead, better discounts.

Unfortunately, you are at his mercy right now. And there's really nothing you can do about it short of hoping that he'll honor his promise. We'll find out more after the 10th. Good luck and keep us updated.

Ya Glenmarie would have been better, but I was thinking since my car broke down in Jln Imbi KL, so nearest will be Chan Sow Lin. The careline also by default shot the job to CSL. I bought my car from the place n did my service there, so it is easier to deal with the same service maneger which i have met last time

It also is nearest to my KL office, so not going to mull over the RM30 difference. Anyway 3008 Turbo service profit margin may be higher than my 408NA, as such, less discount for my case may be.

Hi Prody,

Mind sharing what is the mileage /time length of owneship when that happened? first time bat need change?

I was told my 2.0 NA is ready to be collected, with bat changed and installed, all system tested. Nego with the service manager who promise me to give RM50 discount for labour service for next 20k km service (but no black n white voucher, just recorded somewhere ,in their sytem perhaps?

Ground for asking:

Car bought end Sep 2012 (just over 5 months), mileage just over 10,000 km (service 10k km just 3 weeks back), so how can they missed it in the 1ok km service if the bat health was weak.

Mainly city driver yes, but my daily morning run takes more than an hour.
Now I wonder if my USB drive which is always connected somehow can drain the battery. smile.gif

I'll run a test later. Cause immediately after I switch of the car, the USB drive light still blinks.
Similarly another usb drive light blinks throughout the night, even when I already turn of my WDTV live.

not sure if the cover and heat from the engine is shortening the lifespan of the batteries?

Make sure you didn't or dont sign any release form for your old car yet until it settles. Btw If you still have your old car why not try other 2nd car dealers? Anyway 10th is soon... Just don't understand why the delays cause the faster he settle, more discount from bank. But good luck !

He already did and no longer have his old car, that's why he's now at the 2nd hand dealer's mercy. The longer the delay, the more the dealer stand to profit.

Seems like a lot of battery problem after 10k, maybe could be batch or brands. And since the service interval is quite far apart, Wonder if a battery tester will help?

Hi All, collected my car, and yes the new battery is Delkor DIN60L (price mentioned in invoice at RM455) but of coz, FOC for me as still under warranty (my mileage was just about 11,000 km only, car is mere 5 months plus old)

I asked what is the original battery, is it Yokohama? they say no it is a Peugeot ori battery, a brand called FIAM

The service manager say it will be 50% discount on labour cost for me for the next service at 20k km. (so in value will be M60 as they charge RM120 for labour there), i wrongly heard he will give RM50 as discount over the phone this morning.

Pretty much what I suspected. They use those original batteries from France. I think it's the weather that's killing the battery.

So, fully.imported car may not be a good thing too.albert from peugeot france. First batch of 408 may not be fully assembled in MY.

Can we see the brand without opening any cover?

Btw, m now at sierraglow waiting my car to be pampered..mr choong agreed to touch up my car for the coating I did few months back. Happy with his customer service. Will monitor the coating effect for few months from now.

Jus checked, cant c the brand of the battery installed as it is fully covered. A little worry as car has been running for 6minths at 14500km so far.
